Trail Blazers (25-26) At Heat (34-14)

    What To Watch For

    Play Inside-Out
While the Heat are the defending NBA Champs and hold one of the league's top records at home (22-3), they are still vulnerable in the post and the Trail Blazers have arguably the best post scorer in the game in LaMarcus Aldridge. And LA has been especially dominant over the court of this six-game road trip, averaging 27 points, on 59% shooting from the field (49-83 FG), 10 rebounds, and 3.5 assists. When the Blazers stunned the Heat in Portland back on January 10th, it was Aldridge who had another monster performance, racking up 20 points and 15 rebounds which allowed Portland's three-point shooters plenty of wide-open looks. Portland must first look inside against Miami if they want the season sweep.

    Hope LeBron Cools Off
LeBron James is the best basketball player on the planet; I don't think anyone will debate that. And the five-game run he's been on has been incredible to say the least. He's scored 30 or more in each of those five games but it's the efficiency in which he's done it that's been the amazing part. He's shot no worse than 61% over the court of this streak and he's still finding time to grab the usual 7-9 rebounds and assists per game. If he's on, there's really nothing that can be done. Portland can try to double or trap James and force him to dish it off to his teammates, but the Heat are littered with shooters and scores alike, namely Dwyane Wade, Ray Allen, Shane Battier and Chris Bosh. Back in January, the Trail Blazers were able to hold LBJ in check as he scored just 15 points on 6-16 shooting -- the first time all year James had failed to score 20+. So it can be done.

I think its time for stotts to play the same guys off the bench, his constant shuffling of players is doing harm, obviously he needs to play match ups, and he needs to shuffle if there is an injury,  but it seems these guys need some condidence and consistent playing time. Victor and freeland looked good together its time to go ahead and let them get into a groove out there.

I agree with kenny about Victor and Joel. Joel has been injured so that's hindered his playing time. Our starting core doesn't have the legs to come back in games and play lock down defense for 4 quarters. If I'm coaching, Damian would have been on the bench a lot more against Orlando. Part of Stotts rotations have been due to Damian, Wes, LaMarcus and Nic making big comebacks but it fizzled badly in Orlando

This one will be ugly.  LeBron is playing on another LeBron level, making the MVP race one between just he and KD.  Obvious where this season is headed (lottery), so forget about the numbers on the bright, shiny board and play some guys.  Agree with both kenny and riverman.

We always seem to play well when no one is giving us a puncher's chance. The Heat are coming off of an emotionally charged victory and have a Finals rematch looming with the Thunder right before the All-Star Break. We're sandwiched in-between two high-profile games which could help us fly under the radar.

Fair calls ALL GAME against a "big name" team would be a refreshing change... especially when we're winning !!! Some bad calls and lack of good calls lost the game for us...our guys worked hard .... PROUD TO BE A BLAZER FAN !

I hate complaining about the refs, but this game was called like garbage.  Refs hit the rookie wall.

The superstar "get out of foul trouble free pass" is beyond ridiculous. As great as he was this trend started with Michael Jordan. He'd scream at refs and never get T'd up. LeBron is that guy now. Damian being a rookie won't get calls but LaMarcus is an allstar and he can't buy a call. It ultimately sends the wrong signal to young fans and hurts the game. Sells a lot of soft drinks and shoes though.

LeBron played 39 minutes, and again, did not commit a single foul.  Ya right. Such a joke.

This disparity with regard to the "interpretation" of the rules you refer to river, hasn't been among the many reasons I've seen listed by fans as to why free agents find Portland, and other small markets, undesirable. Rest assured, players are aware. Again, Stern has created this mess and will soon be shoving it onto someone else.

If you would have told me before this game JJ would play 13 minutes and not grab a single board and Nic would play 39, scoring as many points, 5 as he had FGA and TOs? I would have thought blowout. Nobody told our guys they weren't "suppose" to win. Great effort. Late game collapse is simply symptomatic of a young team and something I consider in retro as a valuable lesson moving forward. "Those who do not learn from their mistakes are destined to repeat them"...Hopefully notes were taken.

stotts needed to call a couple of time outs during that heat run, and a couple foul calls would've helped too. Played pretty good at times though.

Sanders better shotblocker, better dunker and around the rim, Asik better defensively. I think Asik will have the better career.
