Rip City more like WIMP(mod-edit...inflammatory slang) CITY

We lost to PISTONS, KINGS, WIZARDS

    WE SUCK (mod-edit...unnecessary profanity)

I thought it was depressing that the world will be ending soon, damn, the only thing that should end is the existence of this miserable team.  Why are  Blazers even a professional team, are you serious, they don't know basketball from eggs.  Its like Shrek took a big one (mod-edit...unnecessary profanity), and the blazers came out.

Its like Greg Oden ate his own feces(mod-edit...unnecessary profanity), then took another one(mod-edit...unnecessary profanity), and that bm(mod-edit...unnecessary profanity) became the franchise we call the Portland Trail Blazers.

We are just one of those teams now, Those GARBAGE teams. We should send the whole team to the D League.

    Still a Fan I guess

Haha. Take a chill pill siccolo. Not every team will be able to be the best of the best. Sometimes we get the shaft and just have to deal with it for a couple of years. This team was a competitor for the playoffs for a long time and once we get back to true Blazer form, it really won't even matter how bad these past seasons have been.

"True Blazer form", haha, this is the True Blazer form.

I used to think like you, but think about it, we have tried new management, new coaching staffs, and new players, the only thing missing from this team is SKILLS. We just don't have the talent and we never will.  This is no winning formula when Portland is involved in the equation.  They need to come to terms with the fact that they SUCK.

    Sorry Mane

Ha! I know that they suck. I live in Salt Lake right now and that lose to the Wizards was a very hard day to take. I got so much crap. But this isn't indicative of blazer basketball. When I think Blazer basketball, it's Pippen and Steve Smith and Rasheed bringing the heat. It's BRoy burning the Mavs for a miracle comeback. They suck now, but everyone has a down period. That's why its a competition. It'll get better. Not this year but whenever we find the right pieces for dame to work his magic and make it his team.

lol @ this kind of had me laughing but honestly when you have a rookie point starting you gotta expect to lose some winnable games especially when you have a below average bench and this season is gonna get worse if our bench is full of sub par vets and rookies who haven't found any real minutes

Did anyone honestly think we were going to make the playoffs this season? My highest hopes for a rookie rebuilding team is still a 500 record and 2nd round of the playoffs, although that is fading fast. In the meantime enjoy the ride. It's more a process than a problem..

Agree 100%.  My only issue is the question now being begged...  How much of our future do we risk sacrificing...for our future?  Many of our core are building blocks for that future, and with this severe lack of depth, the health of that core and everyone a part of it is in jeopardy.

Some people don't have the mental steel to stand a rebuild. "Still a fan I guess." That makes me respect you...

In the 2007-08 season, 2 years after beating the Mavs in the finals with Shaq and D-Wade, the Miami Heat went 15-67. That's a .183 team. 4 years later, they won a championship again.

Sometimes you have to suck to start building a contender. If the Washington Generals had a chance to draft in the lottery for a few years and trade with NBA teams, they might have a real shot at contending for a title.

So my question, alleged Blazers fan, is this: would you rather have 10 years of consistent first-round exits from the playoffs? Or would you like to see us make it to the finals after a couple years of really sucking?

On a positive note, I listened to Dwight Jaynes a short time ago explaining that thru some research he had discovered that this current Blazer bench is the most unproductive of any since records of such a thing were kept, dating back to 1988.  Why is this significant you ask?  Why positive?  Those of you reading this that were around then know what kind of formula this is for building a championship contender.  Hopefully the front office is as capable now as it was then and as forward thinking and adaptable in what has been a constantly evolving business landscape in this league.

...agree pickett.  Would add that Olshea has said he is building for "sustainable success", which for me at least, adds to my optimism and my patience.

I just don't get these type of posts. It's not like we're the Lakers with 4 Hall of Fame player on the roster with a record currently sitting at 8-12. We are a YOUNG team with little to no depth, showcasing a rookie point guard as one of the team's go-to players. What else would you expect? There are going to be a lot of highs this year (beating the Lakers) and a lot of lows (losing to the Kings and Wizards), so try to stay grounded. This team, as constructed, is not built to contend. We are rebuilding, so just enjoy the development of the young players along the way.

I totally agree, DHawes. That's exactly why I'm such a big Lillard fan. He's something special to watch, and I tend to watch his performance more than the score these days. I just want him to become one of the elite PGs in the league. That would make us a team to reckon with. On that same note, though, I'm not entirely happy with LaMarcus's lack of consistency this season. It's not a great trade-off to get a great new rookie and lose the dependable contribution of your all star.

I agree with the development of the young players.  Tell me how are they going to be developed when the starters are playing 38 to 40 minutes a game.  Management has said this is rebuilding but obviously this was not communicated to Stotts.

What I said is not false at ALL.

I did not state the facts in a respectful/ mature/ intelligent way

    BUT

    They are still facts

The Blazers are not a good basketball team. Hopefully this will change soon. If we are going to develop our players why is our starters playing 40 mins a game when Claver, Babbit, Barton are on stuck on the bench. YOU CAN LOVE SOMETHING THAT ISNT GOOD

My question is: How many of these bench players do we really  want to see stay on the team? It's kind of frustrating to deal with players who I honestly don't see a future at all with the team when we could have a player like Chris Johnson who is young, a hustler and just gritty. I always thought we would keep him as a player on the team.

I am lost i mean really lost i must have missed something. Am i the only one that knew this was not going to be a good season after the massive roster dump and coach dump we just had. This is not focused to all of you but if were really going to be that mad about us losing to teams like Washington and Kings then we got something twisted. I am not saying you dont have a right to be passionate but come on i could hardly under stand this post with all of the bleeps in it.

Listen i have been through the Clyde and Porter days through the Jail blazer days to the Rise with us to now the rebuild together and let me tell you this isnt that bad. I mean we could be having a worse season. I am enjoying watching this team play right now because is see what they are trying to do. You guys talked about how many minutes or guys play and they should be playing the younger guys. Well last i checked most of our guys are young. here is how i see it. Victor is a test subject for this team ever since his injury a few years ago he never has been the same player i think games like tonight is his ceiling. Joel freeland has not been playing basketball that long has room to improve but is getting some good looks,  Barton he is kinda the black horse in this hole thing i see flashes of greatness he could be something special.

With that being said we need to play Batume because we decided to Pay Batume not a choice i would have made but now that he gets the money then he needs to play and learn to be more consistent, Mathews needs to play because he is the glue for our team and best on the ball defender. The center is a area i would rather have Lenord starting not because i dont like hickson but because i think lenord is the long term option at this point. I would love jj to back up lamarcus off the bench give us a stronger bench.  And that leaves me with LA i see trade LA and why is he so inconsistent well that leads me to why he needs to play it is going to take more than a season for lillard and him to mesh perfectly. Which is why liilard plays so much as well.

sorry for the long post but i felt i had something to say. It is a rebuilding year i bet with a few moves we will be back in the hunt for the playoffs. Title team thats a ways off but the play offs i can see that maybe next year. I remember Oklahoma didnt do well right out of the gate just saying.

I think people don't see the right picture and that is team salary.

If team A and team B both have matching salaries is it not logical to expect similar quality teams?

I understand there are players like LeBron that change the whole dynamic of "team sport" but for the most part teams have 2-3 stars on each as is the case now in PDX. I believe decisions on a team cannot be made without giving the team an entire season to gel and see what they can do together before making a final judgement because this is a new coach, new system, and new players.

To make the team better who would you consider trading and for whom?

Suck...we might.  It ispossible for us to end up arund .500 at the years end.  We get a taste of winning then our expctations adjust.  Then we are brought back to reality.  What will you think after we beat a good team?  We have won 3 of the last 5 by the way.

@siccolo your statements are always so miserable to read always talking about Lamarcus Aldridge and how he should be on the bench or traded. Honestly do you know anything about basketball? He is a top 5 pf, What more can you ask for? If you thought this team was going to be contenders this year then you don't know anything about this team. Last year was frustrating because we were supposed to be contenders but whatever, stuff happens and you have to get over it. I'm just happy we got a great draft pick in Damian Lillard. I'm also happy that we are competing fairly well we are 9 and 12 and yea we lost to the Wizards and pistons but we were on a 7 game road trip. No team had to go on that road trip with 2 back to backs I might add. Stop trying to rip the team every chance you get. I question your knowledge about the nba because our starting 5 is very good and very young so wait a couple years and stop being so miserable.

Patience hasn't necessarily ever been linked to the good folks in Los Angeles who support their Lakers...and, quite honestly, why SHOULD they have to wait a year for that team to develop? Those attending games watching their purple and gold this year are having to pay exorbitantly for their tickets and their all-star team...NOW.

@Siccolo...the next time you think the Blazers suck, reference this post.  To attend a Laker game this season, you will pay PER SEAT somewhere between $280 and $320 on the average.  The Lakers, not unlike many teams in the league, have adopted a tier pricing system, meaning how much you pay for a game depends largely on the popularity of the opponent.  Thus the word "average" (which also is taking into account the varying quality of seats in the arena).  For example, if you want to see Miami in LA on Christmas day and you aren't the owner of season tickets?  $900/seat at the box office, and roughly $2,582/seat on the secondary market for a spot in the 100 level (Bloomberg Businessweek).  Some ticket search engines have the secondary asking price as high as 6K/seat.  Compare that with the average ticket price for a Blazer game ($61/seat).  Now compare records and standings (at time of this post).  You see?  it could be worse...ALOT worse.

Time has passed since the Washington game (agree was very bad). Stotts is starting to play the youngins.  Like every player\coach they want to win and will go with what they know (veterans), but to win big you have to gamble sometimes and play the unknown quantity (youngins). Remember when Z-Bo got a chance in the playoffs and "went off" the next year he was huge for the blazers (he's gone because he's an idiot, but he can play). I still think they can be a 500 team maybe?  It took three seasons before Roy and LA got to the playoffs (fate played another role with Roy).

I do criticize Stotts for he clock management and roster rotations early in the season, but I have seen better results on this subject lately.  You have to have at least two starters ith the bench at all times or the youngins will go stupid with some of their shot selection.

Remember you can have all the money and cap space for FA's, but its only good if they want to come here. Thats why we have to develope through the draft and be patient.
