4:30 PM | TD Garden | Boston, MA
Trail Blazers (6-9) At Celticss (8-7)

    What To Watch For

Don't Let Washington Beat You Twice
As bad as the loss was to the Wizards, the Trail Blazers must show they have short memories and erase that defeat from their minds. If the players let the Washington get to them and start feeling sorry about themselves, it will trickle over into Friday's game in Beantown. Boston is made up of a bunch of veterans and they will know when blood is in the water and they'll go for the kill. If we're looking for any favors, we're looking in the wrong place. It will be very apparent early on if the players are focused on the Celtics or if the loss is still lingering. Look for the hustle plays by Portland. Are they diving for the loose ball? Are they beating Boston under the boards? Are they fighting to get to the line? If the answer is yes to all three of those questions, then Portland has successfully gotten over the previous game and is ready to handle business at hand.

    Damian Lillard's Field-Goal Shooting

Lillard may have reached the 20-point mark once again, but against the Wizards he shot just 6-21 from the field. His sub-par shooting from the field started on this road trip, going just 4-12 in Brooklyn, and carried over to Detroit where Dame was just 4-18 from the floor. Through the first three road games, Lillard has made just 14 of 51 attempts. The Trail Blazers are at their best when Lillard is playing efficient, getting teammates involved and picking his spots where he sees fit to score. If Lillard is able to shoot over 50% from the floor and dish out 7+ assists, Portland will upset Boston in the TD Garden.

I can honestly say that im thoroughly disgusted with our road performance so far. Its going to take every ounce of pride and courage, and an injury to the entire starting five of the Celtics to go into Boston and get a win.

Rondo will probably be suspended for this game..they had a fight tonight against Brooklyn and he was ejected. We seem to play better against upper tier teams than bottom feeders. I'm not counting us out of this game by any stretch.

@riverman...I saw that fight. I believe Rondo took a poke at Humphries as the pile was disappearing behind the basket and out of camera view. That being the case, you're right...a suspension is coming, which is unfortunate. Unfortunate because the emphasis placed on this season has clearly been the development of our kids and not so much the w/l record. Dame only sees Rondo twice...well, once now. Speaking of Dame, I'm not at all worried with his recent struggles. The kid is tired. The rigors of the grueling NBA schedule are hitting him now, and Stotts had better keep an eye on his minutes on this road trip. The difference in speed of the game isn't nearly as big of a transition as is the schedule for rooks. Added to the schedule, and the Blazers being in the middle of their longest road trip in years, Lillard is logging 40+ minutes a game, particularly hard on PGs.

Price needs to get some run in Boston. He is a heady vet and excellent defender. Winning on the road requires D, something the Blazers haven't exactly been known for thus far this season. With Rondo likely out, a tailor made opportunity for Stotts to split time between his starter and back up a little more evenly. Get the W and rest Lillard some. Go Blazers!

Easy Siccolo. Resist that Chicken-Little-"the sky is falling"-urge. Not that bad (yet). I knew some of the optimism among fans on our boards would be squashed with disappointment this season. Just reality setting in. This is a developmental season. This team was not a playoff contender. I would say though, that if just one of a handful of players logging too many minutes were to drop due to a fatigue related injury and be unavailable for an extended period of time, thousands will jump on that Chicken Little bandwagon. Curious as to why the front office seems to be oblivious.

Siccolo,  it might be time for you to find a team you can root for. This site says I am a Trailblazer fan...negative affirmations really don't contribute anything to the msg boards.

I agree with you BDawg...I like seeing Price get some chemistry developed with the starters and I also like seeing Damien play off the ball on occasion to get his shot going. I think we will bounce back in Boston.

    Rondo got a 2-game unpaid vacation. Looks like a Terry/Lillard match-up.

I still want them to win even tho we suck.  It is an honest question, how can we expect to win games if we cant beat the 2 worst teams in the NBA?

When 3 of your starters have to score 20 plus to win a game your not a good team. Whrn you cant defend, you suck. When you have the lowest scoring bench you suck.

Still watching them play, still love them, not going to throw away my Blazers posters, snapback, jerseys.

Im just saying our roster is not good.

    Had to get this out.

Siccolo..this is not an honest question. It's bashing. Who can we beat? now that's a question..answer: Lakers, Rockets, Wolves, Kings and probably any team in the league when Our allstar isn't battling back spasms, our two guard isn't playing with a sprained wrist, our small forward isn't coming off the flu on the road....I could go on but you hope we lose every game left this season and draft Greg Oden? That's just nonsense. Game before the Wizards you were beaming praise at Lamarcus..next game you want to bench him, trade him..etc....take a deep breath young man.

^ I'm with this guy but honestly our bench is gonna take time we have alot of rookies on our bench that are still getting used to the nba game and will likley need half of this season before they really settle in

Finally we agree on something ^ :-) Loved Rod's toughness and his ability to get to the cup and finish, seemingly at will. I had even renamed him "God" Strickland at one point.

Rondo was scared to face Damian Lillard, so he took the easy way out and tried to beat up a reality TV star.

Win or lose the Blazers have to show me something I wouldn't mind coach Terry taking a page out of coach pop book and rest some of the starters and play the bench most of the game if not this game hopefully the next games coming up on the road trip because our rookies are not gonna get experience on the bench and our starters are playing grueling minutes I think this is a perfect game to see what these guys can do against (after what happen to them against Brooklyn) a motivated Celtic team.

I know Rondo being out gives us a better chance to win, but the basketball fan in me wanted to see Lillard go head-to-head against Rondo.

I think this will be a statement game for the Blazers. I look to the guys to really step up and expect defensive adjustments across the board.

The GOOD...Starters got their rest.  Nic topped the PT column with 33 min.  LaMarcus looked much more like the LA we've all come to know and love, unfortunately that came in a game when eveyone else disappeared...a role reversal of sorts.

The BAD...VERY poor shot selection and non-existent defensive intensity.  When you go out on the road and play a quality team and shoot in the low 30s while allowing nearly 50%...you're going to lose, and lose big.  Really, this is the summation of the game in a nutshell.

The UGLY...the game, from tip to horn.

Ay ay ay. I missed the game and checked out the highlight video on NBA.com. Let me rephrase that... I watched Boston's highlight reel. There wasn't a single Blazer highlight on the video.

Dame had his first single-digit scoring game in the NBA. It was bound to happen; I was just hoping he'd wait until next season to have it.

One thing I can say is the run for Will Barton is going to be an investment with a huge payoff later. I hope he stays on this team and he can be someone with that 6th-man role coming off the bench before too long.
