Will Barton dropped 72 points against NBA talent in an exhibition game recently.  The Trailblazers 2nd round pick in this years draft, 40th overall, seemed to be on a mission.  Noone has been more critical of this young man as I, and yes...this was merely an exhibition game featuring little to no defense, but the Blazer rook did it with a 40 min running clock.  Barton's team, Baltimore's Best, cruised to a 124-109 win over Team Under Armour.  Though only a baby step, a step nevertheless in his quest to silence his many critics...including yours truly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_IEA6n9nPA  ...if I'm not mistaken, I believe CLE's Kyrie Irving is among the defenders getting torched.  Other recognizables participating included Kemba Walker, Deandre Jordan, Derrick Williams, and MIL's Brandon Jennings.   As I've written, if Barton can stay healthy, the talent is undeniable.

I said the very same thing about this kid Dawg. Peoples doubts about him stem from his weight. He is probably never going to be huge. Actually no probably about it, but neither is J Cross. His handle is outrageous. He was shakin cats out of their socks in that game. He might even be a solid point forward. And the way he grabs boards i can see him starting multiple fast breaks. Stotts said he wants to play fast and free. If thats the case, this kid is going to play a major part in that philosophy.

Craford, Prince, RIP, Durant the list goes on. First I was scared because of how skinny he is but he makes it up with attitude. I think this guy has a chance to be veryy good. But then again, I dont feel comfortable giving him a chance yet.

I'm assuming you mean big minutes, Siccolo. If a guy puts up a 72 point game against HIGHSCHOOLERS you're an idiot not to give him a chance. He's not going to start, and he may not be in the regular rotation all year, but he better get some meaningful minutes or I wouldn't give Stotts another chance. The Thrill might not be a star-caliber player, but he's a workhorse with some serious talent which can't be overlooked on a young, rebuilding team.

@ D_pickett, we may have lost the Thrilla but NOW we've got THE Thrill (I know they're different players/position ;)!  I disagree w/ u on him "not be[ing] a star-caliber player," I think he DEFINITELY has the POTENTIAL to b a star in this league too; now, I WILL (pun intended ;) agree w/ u that he might not reach that potential though (but I believe this < u do ;).  IF he keeps that chip on his shoulder attitude, work ethic, & puts in the time... I wouldn't bet against this guy.  I don't think I'm being a homer on this 1 (some may disagree & call me crazy but I'm just going to say, observe what he's going to do; he looks like a fast learner but be patient w/ him & the other young guys; I promise that they'll all have some games THIS season that will open the eyes of the NBA/fans, especially Will & Lillard & bc of this, teams will @ times effectively take them out of their games BUT I think both these guys r special & they'll b able to adjust.  Year 2, Will & Lillard r both going to b worlds better than their awesome rookie selves! :), u can just "feel" it from some guys & this guy has that star quality about him (I felt/believed this b4 his 72pts).

Yes I ment I dont feel comfortable giving him huge minutes. Rather first give Elliot a chance. I wouldnt be mad if we gave him some. Just not 25-30 minutes right off the bat.

Claver will make a great squad player when he develops his outside shot. His size is an asset because he can guard SF and stretch 4s. If he can be a better rebounder and add a post move to his game we could be looking at a possible answer to our f...

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
