Making offer sheets to RFA's will always benefit the Blazers.  They need to keep doing it.  I was disappointed when the Blazers lost out on Paul Millsap years ago.  I felt like they didn't offer him enough money.  The Jazz reluctantly matched.  Millsap has been good but the Jazz lost Boozer in free agency.  Utah then felt compelled to acquire Al Jefferson and Derrick Favours.  Not exactly a sign of confidence in Millsap.  The Blazers offer hurt the Jazz.  The RFA offer for Wesley Matthews was a fair contract.  Utah didn't match and haven't found a solution at shooting guard since.  Even if Utah did match it wouldn't have hurt the Blazers.   Remember Trenton Hassel?  MInnesota does.   They couldn't let Portland have him haha.   INdiana did Portland a favor by not delaying their decison on Hibbert.  Portland must repay Indiana and force another team to shell out a big contract.   HOw bout a 4 year 45 million tender to Brook Lopez?  Foul up the Dwight Howard trade...yep.  Force Brooklyn to match it.  The good Lopez sister only  averages 20 ppg. Who needs a center that can do that?  Blazers do.  This scenerio would be a win win for Portland.  Brooklyn would be in salary cap abyss for 4-5 years.  How bout a 4 year 35 million tender to Robin Lopez?  Overpaying...yes.  Does PHoenix want to lose him...no.  Make Phoenix pay 23 million in salary next year for Gortat, Lopez, and Channing Frye.  Who cares if the Blazers overpay for Robin Lopez?  They will have to overpay to keep Batum and next year they wont be able to make offers if they keep Batum. Feel like Sticking Denver with a tough decison?  How bout a 4 year 50 million tender to JaVale McGee.  Denver surely would match on him.  I will be extremely disappointed if the Blazers dont make another RFA offer.   It benefits the Blazers whether they really covet a player or not.

McGee is the rfa that I wanted most to begin with, we should roll the dice and see what happens. His skill set compliments Aldridge better the hibberts in the first place

McGee was someone I wanted as far away from Portland as possible... until I saw him play in a more disciplined and better coached Denver team. He never got on TNT Shaqtin' a fool again! He has the physique to be successful. My concern is that we will definitely have to overpay to get him. Denver didn't trade Nene so that they can have McGee for half a season. This is what I call a high risk low reward situation, but I'm also very tempted to give him a try...

Be careful how you ratchet someone's salary for another team.  What you do might turn around and bite you later.  Any team can do what you describe so watch out.

Right now it is happening to us with a guy named Nick.... no not St. Nick......   I think a max offer to Mcgee would be great after we sign and trade Batum to Minnesota for 2 first rounders and BRANDON ROY if that's legal.

It's not legal, and we're not trading him. On one thread Mbmurr you say that you wish we could be contenders THIS year, yet on this one you want to get rid of one of our only vets and potentially top offensive options? Confusing.

I don't think McGee has signed an offer sheet yet.  Kaman just signed one.  Hibbert is going to sign with Indiana.  McGee is the current option of choice once the Batum fiasco is completed.  Regardless what we do we will not be much better than last year except we may have a better work ethic and more effort.

In order for us to be not much better I think all we would have to do is show up and breathe. This season I think will depend on 4 people and it is not Lamarcus, Lamarcus cannot carry the team (nor should he), so it will be up to the people we drafted and E. Will. I do not have much faith in our newly acquired euroleague I look at their numbers and figure if I cut them in half that is what I pretty much expect if they make their numbers than they are pretty much just average. So if neither Lillard,Barton,Meyers,or E.Will dont have a breakout year than I will agree with your statement. As for moving on to the next RFA I think we should stand pat until the deadline at the middle of the season and see what we got and who is up for grabs.

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
