jerry sloan's teams are known for mastering the pick and roll. with aldridge and lillard and now maybe even hibbert this could be a perfect match.

Sloan is the leader we need since I do not see us signing one via FA

OK so what is our new GM Waiting for?  If we get a championship caliber coach then that would show all these FA's that we are serious about winning.

Our new GM is talking to free agents like he should be. We need a coach, but we can't lose the free agency race in order to nab a new coach. Sloan isn't even on most teams' radars, and I think Portland could have him quicker than most. Either Olshey knows that and is biding his time because of it, or there is someone else on hold for the position. Make no mistake, Blazers coach candidates have been contacted. It's just being played VERY close to the chest, and the front office has been able to sneak it by everyone because we've payed attention to the draft and now free agency. Neil said he expects to have one by the time free agents are signing. Expect your new coach in about 10 days, Blazer fans.

    Rip City, baby!

Sloan is great at coaching the pick and roll (ask Stockton and Malone).

Not sure he will have the patience to coach what is looking like 8 players with less than 3 years of NBA experience on this Blazer roster.

Think that might be assuming a bit much, Cmeese... I feel like I've heard vet players can be just as frustrating to coach, because they're set in their ways and habits. Young, unformed talent is more likely to be a coach's dream situation, if he is the type that wants to mold them.

I was just thinking I am not sure he wanted to come back to the NBA to help a team rebuild. He very well could be into that and I would always extend the offer to him.

I think Jerry Sloan would be the best choice! He has coached in are division for a very long, he is a very good coach. He also would be could for these young players who could use some discipline and experience from a seasoned winning coach.

I haven't been too big on the Jerry Sloan thing much. Until now.

Let's face it, Portland is in a rebuilding stage, could take 3-4 years. With the inability to lure free agents, they will have to build through the draft. If that means trading LA then so be it, yeah I said that. You need a coach that can coach. Teach these young guys how to play and with some discipline. After 3-4 years Sloan may be ready to call it quits but at least he would have them playoff ready.

Jerry Sloan gets the most out of players more than any other coach, Nate was good with that but too late now. If Sloan would be willing to coach here then I don't see what the hold up is.

Let's be honest. Sloan wants a championship contender. Dude is old and just wants a ring

I still say he is a no brainer.  I know he wants a ring, but I think he is the thing that could bring this team together.

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...

Cmeese, you want to trade Aldridge too? Seems like you only care that the championships are under the Blazer name, and you''re willing to throw anyone under the bus to get it.

I love the Grit and Grind, and I love the Spurs timeless play. I think if the Spurs get to the finals, they will beat the heat, but they won''t beat the Grizzlies easily, and the Grizz can''t beat the Heat. I know it''s weird.
