From the New York Daily News-
One dark horse team could be the Portland Trail Blazers, the nearest NBA city to Nash’s hometown of Vancouver. Nash has several business interests in Vancouver, including ownership in the Major League Soccer team there, and playing for the Trail Blazers would make sense personally and professionally for him.
    The Oregonian's Mike Tokito adds-
Now that would be an interesting dynamic. Nash, an owner of the Whitecaps, would play in a city full of devout Timbers fans, and have his checks signed by Paul Allen, who owns a stake in the Seattle Sounders.

Also, Nash is a vegan, and is any big (or biggish) city more vegan-friendly than Portland?
A few other destinations were mentioned such as New York (big market/reunited with Amare Stoudemire) and Toronto (only Canadian franchise & NAsh was just named the GM of Canadian basketball). I've said this before and I will probably say it again: Signing Nash to a 2-3 year deal while also picking up a point guard in this year's draft (Kendall Marshall, Tony Wroten) to be his heir apparent is the next best option outside of signing Deron Williams. Most will want Portland to get a point guard and stick with him, handing him the reigns to the offense immediately and see Nash as just a short-term fit. But, I would counter that by saying, Steve Nash doesn't play heavy amounts of minutes. He played just 31.6 minutes per game this past season and hasn't logged more then 34 minutes a night since the 2007-08 season. So not only is Nash fresh, despite nearing 40, but his backup would get a lot of meaningful run. And who better to mentor a rookie point guard then Steve Nash?

I like Nash but we better add significant other pieces this summer to capitalize on signing him otherwise it would feel like a waste to me.

I guarantee you, Steve Nash would find a way to get this team into the playoffs. We are lacking a floor general right? WELL THERE YOU GO! Nash for Point Guard!!!!

The beauty of Nash is his unselfish nature that translates into his game. The man is a winner. But not just that,he's a teacher. I hear all the time in our thing how we should go after Dragic. We wouldnt even know who that boy is were it not for him being under the tutelage of Nash. He might have eventually evolved into what we see of his game today, but make no mistake about it, he's better because of playing with Nash. If we are lucky enough to get him, it doesnt matter who we pick as our point in the draft,he'll be fine. And Nolan would grow exponentially with Nash in his ear. Now, if we make a run at D'Antoni, its a wrap. Steve will be here. The fact that his hometown is Vancouver B.C. and that he owns a Soccer team there is just a perk for him. Go after D.Will, Rondo,Nash, and or Lowry/Dragic. Wouldnt that be something ? Nash and Dragic together again.

Steve Nash would be a Blazers, hands down, if we were a contender. I'm sure he loves the area and fans, but I don't see us contending for a title in the next 2-3 years which is Nash's window of opportunity. He's gotten so close that I think priority #1 this summer for Nash is to sign on with a team on the brink of breaking through. I could see him taking less to sign with the Knicks, Heat, maybe even re-unite with Dallas for one final push. Now if the market isn't so hot for Nash and some of his first options aren't keen on adding him, then I could see him winding up in Portland.

@clydefrog He defintely wants a contending tem! but, i bet you that if we got Nash and depending on who our draft pick is, he would come to Portland!

Oh how times change. Just on Monday, Marc Stein reported that the Trail Blazers were among three team in hot pursuit of Steve Nash.
Sources briefed on the matter told ESPN.com that the three teams with salary-cap space best positioned to make a credible run at the 38-year-old, at this early juncture, are Portland, Toronto and Brooklyn (should the Nets lose D-Will).

New York and Miami are also frequently mentioned as potential Nash destinations, but neither the Knicks nor the Heat have the requisite cap room to make a serious bid. The Blazers, by contrast, have coveted Nash for years in trades and will finally have the financial flexibility to chase him, offering the closest proximity to Nash’s Vancouver roots than anywhere else on the NBA map among other perks. Sources say that the Raptors, meanwhile, will be determined suitors in the Nash Sweepstakes, with a serious offer forthcoming to try to bring the newly installed general manager of Canada’s national team back to home soil after 16 seasons south of the border with the Suns and Mavericks.
But after hearing Neil Olshey's introductory press conference, he made it very clear that the team will not go after aging veterans and wants any players they bring in to be here for the long haul.
I think rebuild is the wrong word. I think retool. I think that the organization is in a great position. It takes a lot of time and effort, we did it a couple of years ago to have basically all three elements converging at once. Two lottery picks, cap room and then flexibility with your own and other free agents. So I think as those things converge as long as we make the right decisions in the draft and free agency and with the guys we retain on our roster we can accelerate our curve back to where we want to go. But I want to make it clear we’re not looking for quick fixes. We’re not looking for aging veterans that can slide us into the eighth spot and then we’re right back here a year from now trying to figure out what to do. This is a seminal moment in the future of the Trail Blazers and we need to handle it properly. I’m just excited.
Is it a smoke screen? Or is this his vision? I have to say I agree that I don't want a quick fix, but Nash would have been awesome in Rip City and I think he would have been able to make LaMarcus a better player over the duration of his career as well as tutor his understudy.

i think... and this is just sayin here.. nash's use would be mostly for the younger talent as a leader kinda like what miller did ish.. i thnik itd be great to see him in a blazer uniform.. however.. im not really gonna hold my breath bout it.. i think dragic would probably be the better fit as far as our new GMs point of view.. as far as long haul player.. but i also think nash would teach and make a real difference here if he desired.

Perhaps.. its wishful thinking. but either guy would be awesome.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
