Is Przybilla The Answer For Portland?
Yes- We're getting killed on the glass, need more toughness (53)
     87%
No- We need to get younger, worried about the health of his knees (8)
     13%

    *UPDATE*
    Trail Blazers Sign Joel Przybilla
"We've been actively trying to get Joel to return to Portland for some time now and we’re thrilled with his decision to come back to the Trail Blazers family," said Acting General Manager Chad Buchanan. “Joel is a hard worker, a great teammate and a player that does the little things to help you win, all qualities that will help us down the stretch run."
    From Jason Quick-
According to agent Bill Duffy, who spent halftime sitting courtside with team president Larry Miller, Przybilla is expected to make a decision Wednesday between signing with Miami, Chicago, Milwaukee or Portland ... or remaining idle at his home in Milwaukee, where he is an All-Star father to his two sons.
"I think Portland is always the sentimental favorite for obvious reasons," Duffy said. "Joel has a home here and he had the best years of his career here. And at this particular time, it looks like he is needed, too."
"Joel knows how we feel about him," said Chad Buchanan, the team's acting general manager, and one of Przybilla's close friends. "And we are always looking for ways to improve our team."
The question here is whether Przybilla wants to return. Last season was a tough one for him. His right knee, which endured two ruptured patella tendons in the span of three months, wasn't fully recovered, causing him to limp around the court. Then he was traded by the Blazers to Charlotte in February, after which he shut his season down on March 7 after playing five games for the Bobcats.

Is this what the Trail Blazers are missing this year? Is The Vanilla Gorilla the answer to all of Portland's problems? Are his knees 100%? How long until he's in game shape? So many questions, so little time to answer.

At his age and with his knee history, there's no way you can say that Pryz is "The Answer" for Portland... but you'd be crazy to try and argue that he wouldn't help us at the current time.

Of course, it would also help us to train up Chris Johnson a bit more, give him some minutes and close tutelage from Camby, and let him prove what he's capable of! If he has good technique, he's not gonna be pushed THAT far out from the glass, and with his youth, leap, and length, there's no reason to think he couldn't be a younger version of a Camby-type rebounding/blocking center. PLUS, he's already on our payroll :)

As for the idea that we're getting killed on the glass, that's not gonna be fixed by a single player in most cases, that's gonna be a matter of getting your players to respond to their situation, recognize a deficiency and how to fix it, and be more aggressive about grabbin boards. It's a team responsibility, starting from Coach down, especially now that we have time to practice and hammer out the bad habits!

i love the thrylla i dont know where you would fit him in. maybe craig smith is pretty much done and kurt backs up aldridge instead of crash moving down to the 4. no doubt i love his attitude maybe his toughness would rub off on the younger guys who act afraid to take shots.

    From Quick-
My sense is Przybilla has chosen Portland but I dont know that for sure. He did tell me he checked in with Wesley Matthews this week.

Portland continues to get killed by offensive rebounds, Pyzybilla would be good to help offset that. Let Armon Johnson go, sign Joel, done!

He may not have more than a season left in him.. or he might have more.. but with Oden not coming back it definitely wouldn't hurt to have another tough big in there to crash the boards. We have a good team that just needs to click. But I would have no issues with the Vanilla Gorilla coming back! I'd love it!

Still don't feel comfortable saying he's the solution for Portland's problem at Center, but he wouldn't hurt, and he's certainly going to do more for us than Oden at the moment... as long as we're not having to get rid of anyone other than Armon to give him space... and it would be nice to see his toughness and passion have an impact on some of our up-n-comers.

If the Gorilla comes back I'm definitely down to bust out my Pryz jersey :)

Be a good help on the inside, with his mental toughness and leadership abilities he could teach to the younger players. I'd like to see Joel retire as a Blazer for what he has contributed to Rip City!

Bring the man in! I don't care if he only plays half a season and retires. To me this question is like asking "you're going to a bar-fight, would you like Mike Tyson to come along and back you up?" YES PLEASE! Joel is tough, big, and smart. Once you look at the possible front-court combinations, there's really no question:

    Camby and Aldridge - defense/rebounding/offense
    Przybilla and Aldridge - defense/rebounding/offense
    Przybilla and Thomas - toughness/rebounding/defense
    Thomas and Aldridge - offense/toughness
    Camby and Thomas - defense/rebounding
    Przybilla and C. Smith - toughness/hustle
    Camby and C. Smith - defense/rebounding/hustle
    Aldridge and C. Smith - offense/hustle

He may not be "the answer" but he certainly answers a lot.

We definitely need more defense and rebounding. And more height is something we desperately need at times. I always like Przybilla and was sad to see him go. Plus Portland has always loved him. Welcome back, Joel.

I liked our chemistry better when Pryz was with us.  He may give a run at starting for us if things go well enough.  He is underrated in my opinion and it will be a relief to have a trustworthy rollplayer who's seven feet tall back in at 5 for us.  Love it.

Good news, a big who can take up the lane, alter shots, grab rebounds and help us in the half court game. This is really good news.

not only can we go small with aldridge at center but now we could go huge with aldridge at SF with pryz and camby in the middle if we had to. if batum could run point batum wallace aldridge camby pryz. basically the opposing team wouldn't score unless they hit a half court shot.
