5:30 pm |AT&T Center | San Antonio, TX
    Trail Blazers (7-3) @ Spurs (7-4)

The first of six straight away from the friendly confines of the Rose Garden takes the Trail Blazers to the Alamo City  to take on one of the West's best, the San Antonio Spurs. This is the first night of a back-to-back for the Trail Blazers who will attempt to become the first team to defeat San Antonio at home. The Spurs have won seven straight at home -- the only unbeaten team at home in the Western Conference. But what Portland has going for them is recent success not only against San Antonio -- 9-2 over the past three seasons -- but in the ATT&T Center as well -- taking three of the past five meetings on their home floor.

Even without Manu Ginobili, San Antonio is still a dangerous foe, especially early on in the season. The Mavericks, Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Jazz are just a handful of opponents already sent home packing from San Antonio with a loss. The Spurs are night and day, Jekyll and Hyde when they play at home compared to the road. At home they are outscoring teams 104-91 versus 106-95 away from home. Unfortunately for the Trail Blazers, the biggest discretion at home vs. away is three-point shooting. San Antonio takes and makes more 3's (10 3PTM, 22 3PTM vs. 5 3PTM, 113PTA).

The key to ending San Antonio's streak is playing with fire, energy and intensity. Take the ball to the rack at all costs, force the Spurs to collapse the paint and kick it out to wide open shooters. On defense, play with a purpose. Too many times last night against Orlando, the double team was too late, the trap didn't come hard enough, and we gave them the lane to the basket expecting help which never came. Just play hard for a full 48 minutes and let our depth wear them down.

Sad thing so far is that the Blazers in previous years have been among the best in the league at second night of back to backs but so far 1-2. I'm still happy with the 7-3 start so far but we need to dominate this roadtrip, not sure about SA?

The Orlando game should prepare us for this game because the Blazers are pretty much going to face the same thing alot of drive and kick to 3-pt shooters so defense and rebounding will be key if we do that we should be able to play our uptempo game and run the Spurs out of their gym.

the Spurs still have some perimeter shooters. we lacked perimeter defense against orlando (not sure if that rests on Nate or the guys). we have to find a way to cover the outside and contest those shots. and while we're at it, let's ty not going down by 20 points in the 4th quarter tonight.

if the blazers spot the spurs 8 points like they did to orlando. the spurs will shoot free and easy the rest of the game just like orlando did. hell any nba team would. lets not give up easy layups in the first 2 minutes of the game tonight.

im so sick of watching NBA games be decided by refs 4th quarter the whistles went off too fast on san antonios side and they quit blowing on blazers side. refs should be held accountable and fired for blowing games they switched a foul on blair to parker and they blew tons of calls all going san antonios way. i love basketball but im going to boycott the nba if this crap continues to happen. it's pathetic. they blew our chances in the playoffs last year i've seen them do it to us in the playoffs against the suns calling absurd fouls on one end and they tossed this game tonight. refs should be fined for blown calls since players are fined for techs.

my only thoughts coming from this game are 1) blazers need to learn to shoot and 2) sign rasheed wallace if he comes back.

A GREAT start, but the finish was something very unexpected. I'm starting to worry about this team just a bit. In 3 of our 4 road games this year, we've got blown out which is troublesome to me. Now Camby's out for who knows how long which is the worst news possible. With Camby out and LA on the bench Tiago Splitter of all people scored at will in the paint. I loved the fact we were aggressive on D with 18 steals but we still gave them too many open looks. Hopefully we can bring it tomorrow night in Houston.

Coach McMillan says he's leaning towards starting Batum if Camby can't go tomorrow.

Its depressing,I had such High hopes for this team, but the bottom line is we are pretty mediocre right now,and we always struggle in houston, hopefully tommarow we can turn things around

This is why I wasn't to gun-ho about calling this team contenders yet you got to win on the road thats what contenders do. It seems that both teams were sleep walking through this game until the Spurs got it together I saw when Camby went down the air just went out of Blazers and I also saw the Blazers of old once the Spurs stopped LA the offense got stagnant and until we start making outside shot and have more player movement teams are just going to keep packing the paint and LA will keep playing heavy minutes hopefully we get it together against Houston.

Simpson where is this source because I am pretty sure no one on this planet would have Batum 3rd on a SF list let alone a SG/SF list.

You do not need to be a great rebounding team, if your team is efficient (Miami near 50% shooting), gets to the foul line a lot (Miami), does not allow many offensive rebounds, forces turnovers (Miami), and does not give up a lot of easy points (M...
