Trail Blazers (6-2) vs. Clippers (4-2)

The Trail Blazers begin a home back-to-back against the Clippers, looking to exact revenge for a New Year's Day loss down in Los Angeles. Coming into the game, the Clippers will bring a three-game winning streak to the Rose Garden as well as a full two days of rest before the contest. Also of note, L.A. has played just six games so far this season, the fewest amount of any team in the NBA.

Early on in the season, it's already becoming very apparent that as Gerald goes, the Trail Blazers go. In Portland two losses this year, Crash has not registered a field goal make, which was the case in the Trail Blazers' 92-88 loss against the Clippers. In that contest, Wallace only took five shots and didn't even get to the charity stripe once. And when Gerald is on, just as he was against the Lakers, this team looks nearly unbeatable. So to get Crash going early and often, I'd put the ball in Camby's hands at the top of the key and just have Crash run his defender wild on the baseline and have Marcus put the ball where it needs to be. Nothing gets a player in rhythm better than quick layups.

As for CP3, let's continue what we did on New Year's. Aside from the game-clinching drive, Paul was a non-factor. The statline read 17 points, 7 assists, 1 rebound and zero trips to the foul line. If Portland holds CP to another line similar to that, we win this game going away. The only reason the Trail Blazers weren't able to do so the firt time around was the fact we shot 42% from the field.

Will the Trail Blazers get revenge?

Absolutely Blazers will get revenge! Clips are not too strong, above all on the road, and Trail Blazers are perfect at home! The most important is play as a team. a lot of assists, good D and everything will be alright. also we have more options in attack. There are 6 ballers who can get 20 or more points!
Some solutions how can we stop Griffin and CP3? Maybe Gerald on Blake?

I think Griffin and Jordan will be dealing with an L-Train that has bit more coal in the fire.

remember billups didn't play in the new years game so they were missing some of their firepower. billups is older and he plays better at the start of halfs. dont let him get them off to an earily start and the blazers should be able to hold them down a good bit.

The Clippers could prove to be trouble for us. CP3 has a nak for being able to beat Portland. We really need this win!

OK hear me out I say we start crawford, the man gets to the line, 29-31 with 60 plus mins less then wallace an mathews who are the closest to getting the line as crawford, put him in an throw some picks an let him drive to the rim, ok so he might not be a strong finsh at the rim but he gets fouled an he drills  his FT'S, an he has the quickness to get by anyone, so let him get teams into early foul trouble, them put your starter in aganist the other teams bench rite! plus it takes time for crawford  to warm up get him in early, an by the time you need him he'll be ready to light it up....Think about it!

I will preach this over and over, but we need good ball movement and good player movement off the ball. Basically we need to take a page out of Ramsey's 1977 playbook....watch some films of that team as it was art....constant motion with several options and the reason why we had 6 Blazers in double figures all season long! Too many times after LA get's the ball in the post (who is obviously our #01 option on offence) after the passer has made his cut on the baseline to the weak side corner all player movement seems to just freeze with everyone watching what LA is going to do! What happens is that if LA is shut down by a double team or is posted too far with his back to the basket all of our players are out in the 20-30 feet zone away from the hoop...the clock ticks down, LA has to kick out and we end up chucking up all these long distance shots, which as many of you have noticed, we have not been making!!! We need constant movement when the post has the ball with people cutting and coming off picks. The standing around stuff HAS TO STOP or sooner or later every team will have our number and our win total will not be what it should.

On another note I really like JC's aggressive play on offence. Yes, he has missed quite a few shots to begin this season but I like the fact that he CAN create his own shot when needed and he has confidence as a shooter...and we all know what happens if he heats up. I do think he does need to give up the ball a little more and create his own shot out of running the offence which once again leads back to MOVEMENT without the ball. Just think of good ole Reggie Miller and how he use to move off the ball...incredible.

Tonight's keys: Rebounding, keep CP3 out of the lane, better shooting and MOVEMENT. Hey, these guys are in their 20's and are athletes...they should be able to play back to back games without a hitch, especially at home.

    peace out,
    daddy

If there can be a must win this "early" (given the lockout) in the season, this is a must win.  They need a win right before a 6 game stretch on the road including a back to back.  A win tonight will feel sooooo good at a very deep level for everybody.  Plus, a Blazer win will silence the talking heads in the media.  If I see another Hyundai add with that wannabe all star dunking I just might lose it.

My keys to the game are LA, Camby, and Wallace clicking on offense early.  Camby and Wallace are playing with a ton of emotion this season and it rubs off on everybody including the 6th man!  Also looking for Felton and Crawford to keep improving and finding their sync with the rest of the team.  Felton's passing has not been crisp or accurate, and he continues to over-penetrate and turn the ball over.  Crawford's ball handling and offensive firepower is exactly what the "new" Blazer offense needs, but getting your shots doesn't help if you keep missing.  If those two can tighten up their game and get in sync with their new teammates, the Blazers will crush anybody in the West.

Big Win and I don't think we can be stopped, I think that Blake Griffin should go back to filming his Kia commercials. Another big one tomorrow against Magic at 7PM on KGW!

I really thought that Ray deserves the game ball tonight. He played great defense on Paul and just ran the offensive beautifully. Even when he made a mistake, he'd come up with a big steal or force a turnover.

I wasn't too thrilled with the late-game offense though. It seemed like we ran too much clock and when they took away our first pick and roll option, we were forced to just throw up contented shots. Luckily, Matthews and Camby got put-backs but we really need to continue to just run the regular offense and let the clock take care of itself.

Outside of that, it was a great win. I do worry we helped out on defense too much, leaving their shooters open after just a few passes around the horn. But I think they'll look at film and see what worked and what didn't.

I don't know about watching Tapes of 1977 I mean,Who on our team was even ALIVE back then. But now in the NBA they have this new thing, its called a 3 point shot, and I love watching our team jack them up.The Game Against the magic is our biggest of the season 'cause we are going on the road and we need that win,not to mention the prolifification(new word) of being perfect at home. We own san antonio they are our bitch, but H-town always plays us tough and the blazers are capable of playing terrible like they showed in Phoenix,so we need to rain down some 3 balls and take that next game against the Magic

GREAT WIN ! ...far away from Portland ( I mean from Poland  ) it looks very good. For me player of the game: Felton - good in offence and defence and of course excellent game by LA and GW and that the way this team this season  can do something in championship battle. Two stars, which at least one scores +20 points with support form other players = win. and one more thing : PTB could play better and I expect that specially from Jamal Crawford who can play only better ...
    GO BLAZERS !!

Nice game!  Despite LA going stone cold after the 1st quarter the Blazers managed to lead the entire game.  I'm pretty impressed to see the Blazers beating back runs by tough opponents and putting in 4 solid quarters.  Was very pleased to see Felton have his best game of the season.  Imagine that game if Crawford and Batum were clicking as well!  Nobody can play with the Blazers in that scenario.
