The deal is not done yet...but NBA.com says the obvious that LA's last 2 rings would be non existent if he wasn't there. It will make things easier on LaMarcus possibly. And if for whatever reason the Paul gets hurt, or something goes wrong, it will make the Lakers just an above mediocre team.

That could be good news for the rest of the league unless, they get Howard as well.

I apologize.I am referring to how the loss of Pau Gasol of the Lakers will help the Blazers. Sorry somehow I deleted half of my post and now it makes less sense. AArrgh!

I think it is good news.  Pau and Odom hurt us when they played, but CP3 was hit or miss.  We will  see which big men they will sign.  I think that will really make it clear if this trade hurts us or helps us.

In a sense, yes, this trade helps us, because it hurts the Lakers! So this trade helps every team (except maybe New Orleans.....hehe). Odom and Pau led the Lakers down the stretch in close games last season, and they're gone. Their only interior presence is Andrew Bynum who is a solid player, but has never impressed me. Yes, LA now unquestionably has the best backcourt in the NBA, but their former interior presence is gone, and I think overall this hurts them more.

I think the chemistry between Kobe and CP3 would be turbulent, so at least early in the season it will be good for the Blazers. I also like our chances because whenever we played N.O. Nic was pretty effective in checking CP3. Also we now have a point who can keep up with someone like Chris Paul, maybe opening Nic up to guard Kobe. I think we're better at defending backcourt players than post players, so for LA to focus on talented guards gives us an edge defensively.

Looks like the deal go voided! I thought it was a pretty awful deal for the Lakers so I'm torn on how this all played out.

Darn, I am always down to see LA break up a dynasty. Kobe is a hall of famer but it was Gasol that put the team over the top, much like Shaq in his younger days. Well, we know LaMarcus can take Pau any old day anyways lol

The commissioner must be a Laker or Rocket fan because I think this trade is bad for all but the Hornets. Paul is a great player but 1 injury and their season is over.

CP3 is an incredible basketball player. He beats on us regularly. But him going to the Lakers ain't nearly as freaky as big Dwight Howard going there to.

It's like Laker fans gave their Christmas wish list to David Stern, and of course Santa doesn't ever want to dissappoint his spoiled rotten brat.

lol. And this theme reoccurs every how many years? Between free agency and then all the lopsided trades they get. How many teams got that many front court players. And it's not just 1 superstar, it's 2 there trying to get. I like how all the superstars in league want to just keep giving LA rings and no one really cares about small market teams. Chris Paul, Howard, ANthony, Stoudamire, LeBron etc... they only care about themselves and their money, they have no idea how much other teams and fans would love to see them play. Jordan didn't need 2-3 other superstars, the Spurs didn't, look at Dallas. This kind of lopsidedness doesn't make things competitive enough. When you see Lakers vs Bucks you don't even watch the game because you already know who is going to win.

i am not putting anyone down about being greedy but not a single one of any high profile free agent has ever expressed any interest in coming here and they know we have a good fan base. They'll sell more jerseys in New York or they don't like rain so no offense to anyone but it's totally bogus

Well, the latest thing I read on the subject has CP3 going to the Clippers, Howard going to the Nets and I don't have a clue where Gasol and Odom are headed.

The Blazers can't afford to lose anybody else either by trade or by injury.

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
