Backup at the 4 for LA?

So with the draft complete, Kenneth Faried joining the Denver Nuggets, what are our options with a backup for LA to relieve him of some minutes for some much needed rest throughout next season, do we hope GO and JP make a healthy return to back up Camby and let Chris Johnson back up LA or look into trading for a backup PF, or look into free agency for an answer?

I think we pass a perfect fit with Kenneth Faried unless we come with a miracle and get Paul Millsap because I see Utah trying to trade him because they drafted Kanter but until then thats our only hole in the roster.

Yeah I agree for the most part, I was saying his name when David Stern walked to the podium but when Nolan's name was announced I wasn't the least bit disappointed. we solidified our PG position for years to come.
but we do need to address the backup position for LA before the season starts!!! I don't wanna see our all star
playing 41 minutes per game anymore.

and ur all gunna hate me for saying this id bet money on babbit hes got the same frame a faried but he also got extra year in the league already (hes probably the reason we didnt draft faried) i dont think you guys take babbits size in to consideration when you think about him hes actualy an inch taller then faried and babit was a pretty good re bounder in college

I agree that Babbit could do it if he decided but he believes his role is as a shooter.  He could buy a lot of points (and more PT) with Nate if he would focus on the boards though.  He is 6'9"  (same as Jeff Pendergraph) and has a solid frame.  Unfortunately, last year he looked COMPLETELY LOST most of the time.  Maybe he can relax a little this year and let the game to him.

Yeah...but he is 6'9 they will turn him into a PF.He might not be able to play there...but he is 6'9 . Get it.

That's how some of these fans think.

Just look at Mills, he's 6 foot at best which means he can't play defence...obviously.

Don't get me wrong here...I loved Andre's offensive play, leadership, and resiliance,(he was the rock)but in that series J.Kidd looked like S.Nash raining 3's down on him and Barea gave him a cold every time he flew by him.

    But hey...P.Mills is short,so he obviously can't play D.

Note: Just because you repeat someting over and over  " Yeah his quick, but he is a liability in defence" ,

    DOES NOT MAKE IT TRUE.

id rather have al jefferson over paul millsap because he can play both PF-C really well. it woul help to hav someone that can play both positions in case oden inst healthy. but getting either millsap or jefferson would mean to give up someone valuable so not really worth it. rather just sign a decent PF like carl laundry, kenyon martin, or trpy murphy

Let's try to trade our #57 who was being hidden by Minnesota (an announcer said as much) plus two future second rounders for Faried.

He was hidden because they found out that he lied about his age.

I'm sure Blazers Mng know about this by now and are keeping it quite.

Instead of being 21 he is actually about to turn 27.

Which would probably not be that big of a problem if he had star qualities.

But by the time he is ready to be some kind of a supporting player he will be in his thirties.

So Portland were probably looking to trade him along with some other so called minor pieces, but know I doubt that any other team will be interested in #57 T.Ngombo.

Funny how this is not reported on this website or the Oregonion.

-Blazers aren't going to get Faried, the Nuggets aren't about to let him go. We could trade for Milsap or someone similar but that will cost us more that we will pay. Babbit could back up Aldridge, but without Barron under contract for next year, and with Patty most likely leaving, The best option seems to be to sign a couple of bigs through free agency. We could resign Jeff Pendergraph, or even try to bring back the vanilla Gorilla, or we could sign some other guys...perhaps one or two of these guys who we can get for cheap.

    Glen Davis
    Chuck Hayes
    Reggie Evans
    Chris Wilcox
    Etan Thomas

I would also through in Kurt Thomas but with the balzers going younger I doubt it.

also derrick favors could be good and maybe reasonably easily aquired since the jazz now have kanter, millsap, jefferson, okur, and fesenko at center and power forward

Trades sometime baffle me.  When I hold the first round pick it is always of lesser value than a specific player.  But, if I have the same player and I want to trade for the first pick of another team the player always has the lesser value.  Is Paul Milsap worth more than a first round pick?  If he were in the draft he would be worth his first round pick.  Smoke and mirrors he probably would not be the first pick.  Value seems to be the friend of the best negotiator.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It really depends on how high the player is valued by their team and what their current contract is set to.

I think Milsap makes too much to be traded for any pick without sending another player or a trade exeption of equal monetary value. Which for the blazers would mean Wesley Mathews + our 2.3million trade exception or Wesley + Babbit + future pick. A sign and trade of batum would probably be our best chance though since they will most likely be in the need for a SF when AK47 leaves for free agency

Millsap is worth way more than a 1st round pick, but he is not worth more than Batum.
I would keep Batum. Partially because its almost like he is never going to get his chance but i dont want him to get it somewhere else...hahaha, so mean. But i think jose nailed it with a Wes + Lucky Luke and a pick might work out......
But the other side of it is, does he want to sit on the bench anymore....he is borderline starter now...
