    Via Racine Journal Times-
"Don't be surprised if Portland, which has the 21st pick, tries to move up, perhaps to land Colorado shooting guard Alec Burks. Milwaukee (10), Charlotte (9) and Houston (14) are also big Burks' fans. Burks, by the way, has the ideal shooting guard size, measuring 6-6 in shoes, 6-5 without."
Here is is Draft Express Profile

His best case scenario is Brandon Roy according to DX. He's 6'6" with handles and just like Roy is a shooting guard first but can bring the ball up when needed. He's only a Sophomore so there is still plenty of development left in his game.

We have plenty of holes without targeting a shooting guard, We should try to trade with Cleveland for their #1,4,31, Gibson and Sessions for Camby, Miller, Fernandez, Batum and Babbitt.  Then offer Gibson, Sessions, Roy and Wallace to Utah for their #3,12 and Derrick Favors. we then have #1,3,4,12,21,31,51 and target Kyrie Irving, Jonas Valanciunas, Jan Vesely, Alec Burks, Kenneth Faried, Lucas Nogueira, Demetri McCamey.

trade batum to cleveland for the 4th pick and pick kemba walker pgotf taken care of, tempo increased, shot creator check, consistent penetrater check, adept ball handler with speed check, clutch check.

Trade rudy fernandez, and our second round pick to the timberwolves for Anthony Randolph
back-up for LA check, atheletic pf/sf hybrid check, weakside shot blocker check, interior defense boosted, mismatch man check

With our 1st round pick pick choose either marshon brooks or Kenneth Faired

Brooks is a shot creator and instant offense player suited to take the reigns in the worst case if Roy gets hobbled again 6'6 with a 7'3 wingspan can use his length for offense and defense resembles kobe in some subtle ways in regards to his game

Faired is a beast on the glass, tremendous motor, good active defender, uber athlete, drawn comparison to dennis rodman

Sign either NeNe or Deandre Jordan to center in off season and team is set

If not convinced about armon we could sign Delonte West he can get his own shot, knock down a three and post up

    1 Kemba Walker
    2 Wesley Matthews
    3 Gerald Wallace
    4 Lamarcus Alderige
    5 Marcus Camby

    1b Delonte West/ 1c Armon Johnson
    2b Brandon Roy
    3b Anthony Randolph
    4b Kenneth Faired
    5b Deandre Jordan/NeNe

please, alert me to what dream world you live in?
i would really like to go there on vacation from.... REALITY!!!!!!!!

and a rookie PG, who is 6'1 i dont think is going to solve portlands problems....

if you take rudy away then you lack defensive hustle form the bench.
and you do not want to even think about getting delonte west.
this fool is bi polar, has threatened to commit suicide via twitter numerous times, and has been arrested for carrying a weapon/driving with concealed weapon.

not to mention the extra curricular activities he may engage with his teammates mothers..........pathetic.....

but i assume youre grand scheme includes dropping Oden, yes? because i dont see how it would all work out with a 7 foot 260 lb ball and chain dragging behind you....

Why would we ever want #1,3,4,12,21,31,51 picks in a lousy and weak draft?

Also, I think Batum is way more valuable then any pick...even the #1 pick. I would keep Nic over that any day.

According to Oregon Live, Burks has been interviewed by the Trail Blazers-
Burks said he interviewed with four teams on Wednesday night: the Bucks, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets. And he had more interviews scheduled Thursday.

Burks looks too slight of frame and lacking in post ability to justify the comparisons to BRoy.  6'6" is a stretch...literally.  Still waiting for last year's BRoy, Evan Turner to come around.  There is only one Brandon.  These kids need to become the FIRST Alec Burks', not waste time trying to become the NEXT whomever.

This team desperately needs a player that can (and does) create off the bounce, both for themselves and teammates.  I'm growing tired of waiting for Nic to become that player.  If Burks can create off the dribble and get his own, at the next level...go get him.  Whatever happened to wings being triple threats?

    From Chad Ford's Mock 3.0-
The Blazers fell in love with Faried last year before he withdrew from the draft. If they are fortunate enough to get a second chance at him this year, they'll grab him. His relentlessness on the boards is a nice complement to LaMarcus Aldridge's more offensive-minded style.
This makes me happy as Faried is my favorite prospect in the draft and I think he'd get playing time right away behind LA.

weak draft, I would not like to see us move up for anything more than money, this year's 21st pick and future draft picks. I think we could see Chris Johnson in a blazer uniform next year, so it's not absurd to think they are targeting a good backup sg, considering Roy's 68 mill contract will be waved through the amnesty clause that's heavily rumored to be a part of the upcoming CBA.

According to Discovery over at ClubBlazers, the Blazers have interviewed:
    • Alec Burks, Colorado, SG, 6'6", 193, age 19

    • Chandler Parsons, Florida, SF/PF, 6'10, 221 lbs., age 22
And will have these players in for workouts:
    • Jimmer Fredette, 6'3", 192 lbs., age 22, compared to: Mark Price/Eddie House
    • Darius Morris, Michigan, 6'5", 190 lbs., age 20, compared to: Andre Miller

I don't get why everyone is so anti-Jimmer... People need to realize what he was doing in BYU. He was the entire team. Som have said he isn't a good passer because he only averages 4 or 5 assists per game. Well guess what, you can't get an assist if your team mates won't make the shot. Then there is his defensive play. He was the entire offense every single time down the court and hardly sat on the bench to rest. It would be pretty tuff on him to play that hard on both ends of the court the entire game. What we need to realize is that unlike at BYU Jimmer is gonna have help. He will have someone to pass to and make shots for him. He won't have to play entire games where every offenseive set is through him so he should be able to use some energy on defense. I don't know how good he will be and maybe he will be a bust, but we have been praying for solid backup point guard and for someone who can destroy teams from long range. To me it seems that Jimmer is who we have been asking for all along.

Here's the problem laric33.  Jimmer doesn't possess the athleticism to free himself for that deadly jumper at the pro level, and this team, the Portland Trailblazers, don't know how to set screens or run shooters off picks.  Motion offense is a foreign language to this bunch.  Forgetting about the defensive end, these are my concerns with the kid coming to Portland.  I do believe he can be a decent back-up at the next level, just not in a Blazer uni.  Just my take.

I would have liked to see what Jimmer could do under a Sloan-led Utah team, but that just isn't possible anymore.

Pretty quiet on the Blazers front. Here's what I found digging through the HoopsHype

As for around the rest of the NBA, NBCSports says the Wizards and Suns are trying to move up for Derrick Williams.
According to Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony, the Suns and the Wizards have been “the most active teams” in trying to trade up for Williams. The teams hold the 13th and 6th picks in the upcoming draft, respectively. Minnesota is reportedly looking for a “veteran big man” in a potential trade of the #2 pick, which neither the Suns or Wizards can really offer, unless the Suns are willing to give up Robin Lopez (who isn’t even that much of a veteran), or David Kahn is a big Marcin Gortat fan.
For those who love Brandon Knight, be prepared to break the bank as he's killing it in workouts according to Chad Ford-
Chad Ford: Brandon Knight worked out alone in Sacramento today. They love him. No way he's there at 7. Kemba vs. Jimmer next week in Sacramento.

    Via Kerry Eggers-
The Trail Blazers, who own the 21st pick, are looking to move up in the June 24 draft.

According to a league source, Portland would like to get into the top seven to be in position to take Connecticut point guard Kemba Walker. That might mean packaging veteran point guard Andre Miller and the No. 21 pick for another team’s player along with a top-seven pick
Top 7 pick? I don't think the Cavs are sellers at #1/4. #2/3 (Minn/Utah) is too high for Kemba which leaves the Raptors at #5, Wizards at #6 and Kings at #7.

Looking at lengthy contracts from the above three teams, Toronto only has a few (Calderon, Bargnani, Amir Johnson, Linas Kleiza), Washington owes Rashard Lewis $45 million over 2 seasons and Sacramento has no poor contracts. I think the team we're trying to hop over if we are interested in Kemba is the Kings since they are looking to upgrade the PG position.

Are you guys cool with Kemba? What's the most you'd give up in order to draft him?

I would usually vote against picking up a short Point Guard, but I liked what I seen from Kemba during his college years.
He's quick, he can dish it out, he can score in a variety of ways, he can close out in games, and he's a GREAT leader.
His ONLY weakness is his height. Other than that he's SOLID. I'd welcome him to Rip City with open arms.

Definately not in favor of turning the ball and team over to a rookie point guard.  More often than not, disaster ensues.  I would even have reservations about Irving in that role here in Portland, particularly if no vet PG on roster.

I can't remember EVER hearing about a team's alleged interest in a draft prospect this early, then seeing those interests realized with a selection on draft day.  Posturing.  We won't likely know who Blazer brass is ACTUALLY interested in until they are drafted (nor should we).

I agree and no one talks about kemba or jimmers defense. they all rave about their shooting/clutchness/etc. but their defens is non existant. Patty mills tore up lebron, knobe, and the u.s. mens olympic team for 30 some points in the olympics but his team still lost. The reason why patty hasnt taken the next step is because he is a one way player. Great offense, no defense. That's why he struggle to find big minutes on this team. He could get away with it on a team like golden state or phoenix but not here. Jimmer and Kemba would be a similar situation. I like both guys a lot though.

I would for sure trade miller for Kemba.  esspecially if that one other player we get in the trade to make it work out financially is a pg since that way we at least have some options if kemba ends up struggling.  I think he will be good.  I think if we are going to make a trade so we have a chance to get him we need to be pretty sure we are gonna get him so I would either make a draft day trade with the team that drafts him so we are sure we get him, or just trade with the raptors since he's for sure not gonna go in the top 4 picks.  I like Miller and all and if we could keep him as a backup somehow and still get Walker that would be great, but I just think we need a quicker starting pg because of how badly jason kidd and jj barea made us look.  we need a quicker, younger starting  pg than miller so that we dont get destroyed by the opposing teams point gaurd.  Id definitely be fine with keeping miller as a backup though since he is very consistent offensively and is a good passer. I just think we need someone new as our starter and Walker could be very good.

I agree Thornton could be one of the best shooting guards in the league I would definitely do that trade if they resign Thornton otherwise we should try to sign him and trade Roy and/or Rudy with Miller in a package to get a higher pick for a point guard.

We can't get a young PG and trade Miller. Any prospective PG is going to have a lot to learn from Miller. Unless we don't take Andre's option, he retires, and replaces Nate as head coach. Then I might be OK with it.

By the way, not 100% positive on this one, but I think the last (maybe only) rookie starting PG to lead his team to a championship was Magic Johnson. That might put some things in perspective for you. Of course, we aren't looking for a PG to be the best player on the team; we have that in LaMarcus.

But I'm more fond of focusing on a big in the draft. If we want a more energetic, younger starting PG, we need to trade for him, not draft him. We can't rely on someone who's never played in this league to run our offense.

As far as Jimmer goes, No way. Maybe he can hit perimeter shots... woo hoo. But our problem is not even missing the long shots we take. It's the fact that we take them. The LAST thing we need is another guy jacking up tres.

Oregon Live is reporting that the Trail Blazers will bring in Oregon native Kyle Singler for a workout one week prior to the draft - LINK

Kyle Singler, the decorated Medford native who led Duke to a national championship in 2010, will participate in a group workout for the Blazers on June 16, according to his father, Ed Singler. The workout will take place one week before the June 23 draft.

okay, i know how like i know how a lot of portland fans care about other NBA players and what they do off the court, but somehow ignore what their own players do off the court, but any way, Kemba walker is a great player but this guy just openly admitted to finishing his first book right after they won the championship.

so maybe, just maybe, Portland has become entagnled in the Kemba Net.

Perhaps Portland has been sold discounted prices for tickets to take a ride on the Kemba Walker Train.

Or even if some of you fans have gathered up your instruments to play along with the Kemba Walker Band Wagon.

but what i am telling you is, forget it, this guy is not about to ball as hard as everyone thinks he is. go after some real players.....

Question:  What was our win percentage after Wallace came to the team?  If we use that percentage against 82 games how many wins does that equate to.  Then what do we need to improve our team.  I am not sure there is any player in this draft that would improve our team.  We need to be careful not to give away too much and in so doing we actually would be worse.  If we want to improve our team we need to acquire established players by trading draft picks for vets.  If we stay at #21 I do not like our chances of improving our team without trades.

I agree about your point, actually. I guess I just don't see anyone from this draft as a solution to any of the problems in the league (at least not among the playoff teams this year, Portland included).

A few international players draft status from Chad Ford and Draft Express Twitter Accounts-

    - Davis Bertans saying in the draft.

    - Lucas Noguiera has withdrawn from the draft. Couldn't get a first-round promise. Has been listed at 7'0", measured 6'9" (w/o shoes) at the EuroCamp. The measurements usually taken from the Nike Hoop summit are notoriously inaccurate.

    - Nikola Mirotic staying in the draft. Doesn't care if he goes in the second round. Will stay in Europe for three more years. Would have been a top-10 pick if it weren't for contract issues. A good long-term investment if you have money to burn for an additional pick.

    - Andrew Albicy (Batum's friend & fellow countrymen) has also withdrawn.

We can't get a young PG and trade Miller. Any prospective PG is going to have a lot to learn from Miller. Unless we don't take Andre's option, he retires, and replaces Nate as head coach. Then I might be OK with it.

pretty sure nate was a PG

According to DIME, the Wizards are hoping to move up to the #2 slot in order to take Derrick Williams but it looks like JaVale McGee is the asking price in return and Washington scoffed at that.
The Wiz have been enamored with a John Wall/Williams pairing for a while, but parting with a talent like McGee is a big step. Only 23 years old, McGee put up 10 points and eight rebounds a night last year while also blocking 2.4 shots a game (second in the league). To have an athlete like that at center could pay off down the road. Still, some believe Williams could develop into a franchise talent.

Faried also is on the Trail Blazers’ wish list at No. 21, but the Blazers also are said to be high on Marshon Brooks.
For those who don't know, Brooks is a shooting guard out of Providence

He also has this to say about some other teams-

The Jazz and Kentucky point guard Brandon Knight are a sensible match with the third pick, as Utah looks to replace the gaping hole left by the trade of Deron Williams to the Nets. Some execs have gotten indications that Utah also is considering Enes Kanter.
If Toronto passes on Biyombo, some execs believe he could slide as far as 14-18, and the Knicks, with the 17th pick, are known to be high on him. But the apple of the Knicks’ eye is BYU sharpshooter Jimmer Fredette, and New York officials are trying to compute how far they’d have to trade up for him and what it would cost. The Knicks also like Michigan point guard Darius Morris, and one exec said the word Monday had New York looking into trade-up options for Georgia Tech shooting guard Iman Shumpert.

A litte insight on Marshon Brooks from John Hollinger (Insider)-
Guards who don't make the cut
Probably the most suspect candidate, according to Draft Rater, is Marshon Brooks; his 7.88 rating was 27th among perimeter players. The Providence guard put up huge stats, but his average is hugely padded by two factors: First, the Friars played the fastest pace of any major Division I team; second, Brooks played nearly every minute of every game, averaging 36.5 per game -- remember, they play only 40 in college. Let all the air out and his numbers look a lot more ordinary -- his usage rate, which is his most alluring stat, ranks only ninth among prospects. Given his age (22 and five months) and his relative inefficiency, I'm not sure there's a ton to see here. Draft Rater sees him as a second rounder.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
