Does Portland get to the second round now that we made a move?

I think the Wallace deal is better than great. I think it's huge. No question we got better. Before, I had little faith (maybe 10% chance) that we were going to get out of the first round again. I still don't think we'll catch OKC and get a top 4 seed - but I'm starting to think we could get past a 3 or 4 seed in the first round - yes... even if it's LA. I think if we're reasonably healthy by playoff time, our record will not be as good as the talent we show up with. What do you think? Does the Wallace deal change your mind about our chances in the playoffs? Did the Blazers just take another step forward?
... or are the Blazers chances worse now? about the same?

We had a chance for second round even before. Really it all depends on who we get matched up against. I really honestly think we make it to second round. I think "herr" made a post talking about if we will get 50 wins and if we could get home court. Before I was pretty sure we would get 50. Now I am certain. Before I was thinking we had a small chance of 4th spot. Now I think we have  a big chance. We just gotta do some running. We have a tough end of the season.

    *fingers crossed*

Success in the postseason is largely dependant upon individual match-ups.  Without knowing a probable opponent, tough to say.  I WILL say that this teams chances of advancing have increased substantially, adding defense AND another threat at the offensive end, with the same player.  Wallace can score in a variety of ways, something the Blazers were in desperate need of, as we all witnessed recently late in the Laker game.

There is no comparison between the talent we received compared to what we gave.  Gerald Wallace is every bit the Blazers 2.0 version of Jerome Kersey.  He hasn't proved to be better than Jerome (yet) just that he "brings it" every game with great athleticism and tenacity Just like jerome.  He is much better than Dante at this stage of his development. This talent addition absolutely opens the door to the thought that B-Roy could help make a run at a Championship before his knees retire him prematurely. Remember we are trading a stop-gap starter (Joel) with absolutely no lift in his legs and a serviceable backup for a starter one year removed from the All-Star game and recently selected to the All-defense team. He is only 28 years old if I am not mistaken.

His recent drop in production doesn't concern me too much either since anyone playing on the Bobcats this year is likely to take a hit in their stats. Why else would they be blowing up the team again so soon after rebuilding the last time?  We kept Andre "oop-meister", Batum, Matthews and still have a huge lift coming early next year from Oden. Gerald will also take some of the pressure off LMA with his excellent interior and outside defense and his rebounding.  Several times in the Lakers game, Joel had perfect rebounding position but could not secure the defensive board simply because he couldn't jump.  I absolutely respect Joel and hope we can re-sign him but we clearly needed interior help.

So welcome to Portland, Gerald Wallace.  If you bring the same level of energy you obviously displayed in your previous teams, you will be quickly embraced by the fine Blazers fans.
I am a fan of cheering our hardworking Blazer team to a championship!

I guess Batum would be a good fit since Ilysavoa plays 4 more than the 3, which I didnt know lol

I think this would be a really good deal for Bucks then. They can draft Dieng with the 10 and maybe Franklin with their pick.

You''re right. They should dump Monta though. I was thinking maybe the Rockets could use the number 1 pick to get the lakers to do a sign and trade for D12.

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
