I can't believe this... I feel bad for the guy but the Blazers need to find a solution now. A lot of the team's hopes were on Oden this year, if I am not mistaken.

At least GO will be off the books at seasons end.  This could've been far worse.  One less asset with which to work with in attempting to make this team better for Cho...and in that respect, more than any other, truly a sad day in Rip City.  I think we can all agree now...expectations this year just took a big step back.

i mean could this get any worse????  can the blazers really be this unlucky??  i just cant help but think what we could do if we were able to have a full roster of 'fit and healthy' players.  but if we produce, and make a run this year like we did last year, then watch out.  RIP CITY is coming for your crown Lakers!!  best of luck to oden in his ongoing recovery.  no hard feelings and wish you the best in the future

Has he played his last game for the Blazers?  We didn't extend his contract recently and will we just waive him?  I'm not sure if we'd be giving up on him or just making a good business decision by waiving him.  We waived Pendergraph, right?  I'd say waive him...it sucks but I would understand.

damn.  Oden over Durant was the worst decision this franchise has ever made.  I can really see why kevin Pritchard got fired since he was the one who liked Oden enough to choose him over the best scorer in the world.  Oden is a solid player when he is actually playing, but he has been just a total waste of money since he cant even play more than one seasons worth of games in 4 seasons.  We shouldnt even re sighn him since he is just going to end up getting injured again and will be a huge waste of money.  Even though it's been like 4 years I still cannot believe that we chose Oden over Durant.

I cried a little after hearing the news about Greg Oden this will be his second Micro fracture surgery in three years one for each knee it is hard to think his career isn't over after ONE micro fracture surgery took out the likes of Chris Weber and Alvin Williams i really thought he would come out his year and prove people somewhat wrong over the Durant thing but i digress what should Portland do now waive him and cut your losses or sign him in the off season since he is a restricted free agent and give him a shot in LATE 2011?

So many people out there are hecklers, and naysayers.

this sucks. lets be real. but come on, there is NOTHING that oden could have wanted more than to play, to prove himself, to earn his good name back.

i hear so many making statements on how we wasted the pick, and what a waste of space he is...but the guy was a good pick. no one could have foreseen this.

bottom line, we did need him.

but remember that he isnt just number 52, he is a person, who is probably feeling pretty crummy right about now. can you imagine the hurt he feels? the big lug only wanted to be better and back on the court. I bet his head is messed up and we dont have to support him, but this is our team. just like the true fans dont just support when we win, but also win we lose...sometimes by a huge margin even. As long as oden is a blazer, he has my support, as do the bigwigs who chose him over durant because they make up our team.

At this point, given everything that's taken place since Batum's shoulder surgery last October, I've become numb to the whole thing. Nothing honestly shocks me anymore when it comes to the Trail Blazers and bad news. Like Krizzikinz, I'm at a loss for words. I feel 100X worse for Oden, the person, the basketball player, than I do for my vested interest in the Trail Blazers. No person should have to endure this much adversity. Maybe he has another calling in life? I just hope he can find peace and happiness in whichever path he chooses.

As fans, I ask you to not point your anger or disappointment over this situation at Greg. No one is more heartbroken over this news than he is and it is not his fault he keeps getting bit by the injury bug.  I hope to see #52 back on the court next season with the Trail Blazers or whomever signs him, because he deserves to be able to just play ball. Chin up and get well soon Big Fella!

Well, let's see what happens with this. Hopefully, the surgery will go well and Greg can come back from this latest setback. As a huge Blazer fan, I am very disappointed at this latest turn of events, but at the time, Greg was still the right choice. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we shouldn't cast stones at Greg. Be supportive, Blazer fans. He is still only 22 years old. He may have a wonderful future, but this is very disappointing.

Ugh. Poor GO. This day hurts extra for myself as I'm one of Oden's biggest fans and always knew he'd prove the haters wrong, but this...this just came out of left field and smacked me. It just feels like the Trail Blazers can never get anything going for them..always facing an uphill battle. Greg was the key to our championship dreams and now I feel like those dreams are gone in the bat of an eye. Best of luck on the path back to recovery Greg!

I want Oden to come back strong even if it isn't for this team, but anybody thinking he is going to come back late this season don't get your hopes up.  If he doesn't play this year his salary is not taken from the blazers so finacially they have more to gain with him sitting than playing 10 games

Sam Bowie over MJ, easily out ranks that as the WORST decision ever made.

But i dont think drafting Oden over Durant was a bad idea. Because, fist off,  ALL OF YOU PRAISE BATUM AS POTENTIALLY BETTER THAN DURANT.
SO make up your mind on that. You dont want to give Batum credit when it comes to this topic, but on the Topic of Durant being supergood, thats when Batum gets the Credit.
Second, this team needed a Big man, one to go with Aldridge, because as all of you know the west is all about Big men. So good decision.
I mean Oden came out like the BLue guy from the Monstars in Space Jam.Ohio State Oden.
Oden didnt have previous injuries, not like some of the other guys this team has fiddled with.

    To address this.
but remember that he isnt just number 52, he is a person, who is probably feeling pretty crummy right about now. can you imagine the hurt he feels? the big lug only wanted to be better and back on the court. Greg Oden got Injured all by himself, and you know what? He is going to heal, all by himself. It is up to him. This guy knew as soon as his knee split, that he was going to have to take it easy, which we dont know if he did. Him gettting up to make a sandwich, getting water, repeately getting up to pee at night, this guy should of been taken care of properly, whether that task was up to Blazer trainers or Oden himself.
Dejuan Blair has been brought up a couple of times recently about knee injuries, Blair had them in College, never missed a game nor practice, and still works hard for SA.

And so you want to leave the duties of the team up to a Guy who is only in his 2nd year in the NBA, a guy who was let go by Utah, he must of really been crucial to their stratagy for the BLazers to pick him up as late as they did as a free agent. (sarcasm)

And a true fan would not be okay with his/her team losing by a huge margin, and if they are, they shouldnt ask why portland is never mentioned in the media or in the finals.
    and thats the trUfe.

I'm sorry, but why are expectations lowered because of Oden ? How do you miss what you never had ? At least this is the last year we have to hear it.  Everyone feeling sorry for Greg, he got paid pretty well for 4 years, go check out his part time athlete, full time player shirt on Blazers edge today. Giving too much credit imo, he's a quarter time athlete.

TomL, imo, the worst pick was Oden over Horford if were  going to keep feeling sorry for ourselves. How good would we be with Horford on this current team?  Hindsight is 20/20 going on 4 years now.

I feel so sorry for him, this has got to shake him to the core.  It might not be the doctors, but maybe the practice floor, the equipment?  It is well known that we have the best training staff, doctors, rehab, etc in the NBA, but there is got to be a reason that these things are happening.  Somebody tell Kobe and LeBron to put down the Blazer voodoo dolls and let us heal!

Best luck to you GO, keep your head up, don't let this get you down!

The team will be fine, we have an extremely deep bench that will step up and carry us through this, they did it last year and they will do it again this year.

Listening to Jay Jensen talk, man, he sounds like he is going to cry.  I feel so bad for the players right now.

Oden's career is pretty much gone (no wonder they didn't extend him)

WE have two tough matchups against denver and utah without our star guy.

Really tough week for blazer fans.

Damn man wtf, it's like oden knee's are made of wood man. I just don't understand how this guy is just so fragile and injury proned it's just scary, he probably needs to retire for his own good...honestly.

Just got the news on my drive home from class...I feel bad for the guy, and no one is to blame at all...just freakish things that can't yet be explained.

Going to get my headphones ready so I can tune out the "I KNEW WE SHOULD OF PICKED DURANT OVER ODEN!"

I am a fan of B-Roy and LaMonster!

Does anyone know if when they say "out for the season" they are including the playoffs?  Because it would not even be that devastating of a blow to the orginazation if we were able to get him back for the playoffs since that is when he would be most usefull since we will need his size against teams like the Spurs, Lakers and Mavs.
I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that

I think it's time to move on from our training staff. When does Phoenix's training staff become free agents? Maybe a few of the injuries couldn't have been prevented at all, but with this number, it's made me worried. And they took a guy just as injury prone (Grant Hill) and made him a steady contributer very late in his career.

I still think we're obligated to sign Oden to a small contract for next season. After all, he's good when he plays. What if next year's the year that he comes back and dominates? It wouldn't be fair to us given what we've endured. We should reap any benefits he gives.

    Lost this year:
    Pendergraph
    Williams
    Oberto
    Oden

Let's hope that list doesn't grow any larger.

I'm just stunned. When I saw the headline on ESPN just before coming on here, I thought I had gone back in time - the little clip from Sportscenter and Nate's statement, it was as if it was just a segment looking back on something that had happened a year or so ago as the show sometimes does from time to time.

Yes, I feel horrible for GO, I can't imagine what he must be going through. To be honest, I do hope we see him on the court, but my gut reaction was that maybe this isn't for him, but I don't really know much about all this and what one would think after having to go through this surgery twice in such short time.

Gosh . . . .sad, frustrating, shocking, amazing, unbelievable . . so many tings going through my head. I really just can't believe it to be honest, even though I/we are used to not seeing GO on the court in an overall sense.

    Just so sad . . .. *sigh*

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
