portland, now 3-1, ends it's road trip against the milwaukie bucks nov. 2.

the bucks have several notable players, the most notable of which just may be center Andrew Bout, who is injured and won't play. so who will milwaukee rely upon ... Michael Redd? Drew Gooden? Corey Maggette? John Salmons?

can the blazers come back from the loss to chicage where they shot under 40 percent from the field. will it be more than just LaMarcus stepping up?

    Any thoughts?

I think Bogut is going. Redd is still out. Jennings is a guy they need to stop he just had a 20/10/10 game.

Same keys to the game like yesterdays. Rebounding and keeping Jennings contained. Bogut is pretty underrated but the man is a beast inside on defense. Attack him early and often.

Andrew Bogut has played in the Bucks first three games thus far -- averaging 12.3pts and 11rbs -- and if i'm not mistaken, should be playing against the Blazers.  Michael Redd on the other hand, who knows when and if he'll ever return to the NBA again.

A notable player that the Blazers will have to shift their focus on is Brandon Jennings.  He had his first career triple-double against the Bobcats.  So containing him is key.  The Blazers will also need to defend the 3-point shot, as Jennings and Delfino (twelve 3-pointers in first 3 games) can certainly light you up from down there.  The Blazers will also need to make some 3-point shots, as everyone knows, they went 0-14 against Chicago.  Other than that, they need to get Roy going early and keep feeding Aldridge inside!

The key to todays win over the Bucks is one thing, and one thing only.

Oberto. He needs to have a 20 point game and I predict he will hammer down 25 points and 15 boards.

Oberto is my key and he should be yours also.

We got to have an outside game to compete with any teams. It opens up the lane for B-Roy and LA when we can rely on Nic, Rudy, and Wes to hit from the outside. We can't play like we did last night and expect to win many games as I think we played very poorly. Nic also needs to play better D. What Luol Deng did to us yesterday was ridiculous, but we can't act like he's a star. He was hot, but almost every NBA SF will be able to hit an open mid-range jumper. I think we rebound greatly though, and beat the Bucks by 10-15. I'm a little worried about how we will stop Jennings, but I think Camby will hold his own with Bogut.

    Keys to the Game:
    • Hit the outside shot
    • Play tough D
    • Free Throws! (Armon Johnson)
    • Get B-Roy back on track
    • Slow Down Jennings

The key to winning is being there mentally. I don't blame them one bit for last night's game, because you could tell the team was emotionally down, but we need to bring it tonight to beat the Bucks in a rowdy environment.

Just need to get back emotionally and mentally didn't look all there last night.

Let's hope Jennings and/or Bogut don't go off with a Deng-like career game tonight.

Tonight's game will be much better. As Dave stated, how can you not be a little down when the Blazers lose Maurice Lucas on Sunday who was such a valubable part to the organization? There are little reminders all over the place. If we had shot just a tad better against the Bull's we would have been in the game or should I say had we shot like our first 3 games! There is no way the Blazers go that cold again tonight. Now they need to lift their heads up and go get a big W for Luke and make him proud. The key's are obviously shooting better tonight and controlling the boards and getting Batum involved...

    peace out,

We need to step up our D. Yesterday was a little upsetting to watch how the Bulls could score at will... what else?... O ya, make some shots... Yesterday was rough because everyone was having an off day except LA, but I don't see that happening again.

We need this. Good teams get splits on the road. Great teams come back 3-1. With OKC coming in on Thursday, I'd rather not be on a 2 game losing streak with the high probability of it being a 3 game streak once Friday rolls around.

We must find a way to contain Maggette. Do whatever we can to keep him off of the foul line. Make Jennings shoot jump shots. And for the life of me, GTE BACK ON DEFENSE! We simply can not allow the Bucks to have their way on the fast break like Chicago did last night.

As I've said.  Grown men.  No excuses.  Get it done.  Play the way Mo played (and would have wanted ya'll to play)...hard and with pride.  How many of the Blazers even had a relationship with Maurice?  Again, as I stated earlier on the Chicago thread, the Blazer with the most time in and therefore likely a closer relationship to the late champion, was the only one who showed up.  LA didn't need a hanky.  The offense has needed re-tooling for the past three years.  Please...  There are a great many things wrong with this team right now that have absolutely NOTHING to do with our fallen hero, may he rest in peace.  Make Mo proud.  Joel, where are ya??

I didn't see the first half (thank goodness!) but so far I'm liking what I'm seeing from Lamarcus in the second half!! He's going after rebounds and driving to the hoop and drawing fouls!!! Dre is playing real good to, a couple of really nice passes in the 3rd so far. The Bucks announcers saying he is one of the few who can pass like that since Magic. That is a huge compliment!

I really gave my post some thought after submitting, and I just didn't remember hearing much last season about Luke.  He was hospitalized and/or away from the team for the better part of the season I think.  His condition, for good reason, was always kept real private.  Not sure, if that was in fact the case, how much Miller would have been around him...Rudy as well.  As a competitor, I just don't like excuses...and I'm fairly sure Mo was the same way.  I acknowledge how harsh that may sound, and it's not meant to.  LA though, especially as a front court player, has had ALOT of contact with Lucas I'm sure...and that was more my point.  HE came out the way The Enforcer would have wanted, aggressive...and he is doing the same tonight.  LA looking every bit like an all-star candidate thus far.

Yes but sometimes you've got to give em a break. I think they really played last night like they had something else on their mind. The first quarter of this game as well. But they seemed to have snapped out of it.

Bench stepped up HUGE tonight and the team played some inspired basketball. Started really rough in first quarter and it looked like a repeat of last night but they got it back together and got the win.

Nice, solid back-to-back efforts from Aldridge on both sides of the court. bunch of blocks (5) and steals (4) to go with his 14 pts. and 8 boards.

43 total points off the bench, led by Matthews 18. Mr. Johnson's perfect 4-4 (2-2 from 3) 10pts. 5 assist capped off a good outing for our reserves.

A little concerned with the off night from Batum, maybe its the early 4 game road trip.

Well I'm getting sick of Nate treating Batum like a rookie. How is he going to learn to deal with these things if he doesn't play through?!?!

But real happy with Lamarcus again tonight! And happy with AJ again, but don't want to get too excited just yet with him. He's gonna have his ups and downs, and tonight was definitely a big up. I really am not liking Wes Matthews as a ball handler. He has way too many unforced turnovers. I like that he is aggressive in driving to the hoop (I wish Brandon would do that more) but he needs to work on his handles way more. Also it's weird how he turns it over but Nate yanks Batum for missing shots that we want him to take and not Wes.

first: my bad in the original post. yes, it was Redd who was inactive; not Bogut.

i had a meeting and didn't get home until halftime, but i got a full briefing from my dormmate. she told me how the first quarter was horrible for us, but how the bench came back and put us back into the game. julie was very excited; i've trained her well!

it was a complete game, pure and simple. six guys in double figures with the highest total of 18. you could pretty much single out any of the guys and they made a contribution. great win tonight!

Very inspired effort from the second quarter on.  I saw alot of aggression out there, particularly in that 3rd quarter.  If you are able to watch this game again, whether from a recording or replay on Comcast, watch for Aldridge attacking in the paint at the 3:20 mark of the third, and Dre :20 later going after the ball at the offensive end.  Those two plays will say it all.  I don't know that I have EVER seen either player THAT aggressive.  Those two plays won't make any highlight reels on Sportscenter, but more importantly, are indicative of a mindset necessary for long-term success.  I want to see more of that, and from every player.  This team, with the bigs back and playing collectively like that, all on the same page, cannot be stopped.

I have to temper my enthusiasm tonight however by reminding myself that the Bucks might not even be a playoff team in the West.  That said though, this was by far the Blazers best outing to date...only 5 games in.  Let's build from this.  A complete game with a team effort like we all saw after the first tonight, will be good enough to beat anyone on any given night and in any local, but the Blazers have to be able to do it for the full 48.

Kim, Armon continues to impress.  Even those of us that saw greatness in the kid I don't think expected quite this level of contribution, nor quite so early in this 2010/11 campaign.  AJ is a special player.

Haven't seen the game yet but from what I can see in the stat sheet, defense won it. 5 steals from B-Roy and 5 blocks from Aldridge? Awesome.

Wow. Watched the replay of the game twice. Our bench came up big, they came with so much energy that really hasn't been there this road trip. Let's hope our bench can stay consistent, our starters looked tired and needed a blow. They got it tonight.

That was so awesome, shows the kid is earning a lot of respect and trust from his team mates. I don't think a lot of vets would of pulled that move.

I did love the yell Johnson gave after the sweet lob to DC on that fast break, dude was jacked up to 11!
