Any ideas what might interest the front office in pulling the trigger on a trade with the Celtics?

Personally i think that Glen Baby Davis would be a great backup behind LMA, or a first round pick.

    Thoughts?

Personally I don't think Portland will pull the trigger on a fernandez trade till after FIBA....unless its an offer they cannot possibly refuse. As far as the what we would want for rudy....I'm not necessarily sure just a first round pick would get it done unless it was a high enough pic, and Rudy continues to do nothing at FIBA, considering Boston already offered us a first rounder. If Big Baby was an option, we would need to throw in another player or two (perhaps an expiring and one young talent?) I'm not sure what Boston could do for us as far as a player swap without us giving up another 2 player at least.

The only thing I got against Baby Davis is he is a Cettic. So leaving value out our need for Davis is much bigger then our need for Rudy (in his present state of mind)

I think the reason the front office would want to trade for a future first round pick in the draft is because that would free up a roster spot for Pauls pick "Mills". I like Mills out side shooting and his ball movement, other then that I do not know that much about him. To us every day fans, he may not be that important as a player, but when the owner wants him then you damn well better make him important too.

I don't think the Blazers are going to be in a rush to do anything, Rudy is still under contract, Rudy has just said he didn't wamt to play for us anymore, plus the Blazers has to honor their end of the contract also. In doing so the next step is actually Rudy's; he can hold up on his threat not to show up to training camp In which case Portland can make the decision then. Opposed to taking the first offer or as said above one that they don't want just to please Rudy.

Back to the Original question, to me, Davis would be good because I am ticked off at Rudy.

Give me the other Northwest product to run alongside Roy, Nate Robinson. I've been witing for an opportunity for Roy to play with either J. Crawford, Nate, Stuckey, or even the fossil of a sixth man a few years back, Jason the Jet Terry. What kind of package would that take to make it happen. As far as i know, Nate hasnt had any character issues. Brings that game changing energy off the bench like a civilized JR Smith.

A future 1st round pick would be a great investment for Portland. Boston has about 1-2 more playoff runs left in them and after that, they could be lottery bound for a while. Take advantage of them now and get a lightly protected 1st in 2012 or 2013. It could pay huge dividends down the road.

At this point, as long as Rudy goes for something, I'll be good. (Yes, I understand the office is looking to get the best deal possible; then again, how long can they wait 'til the best offer is off the table.) Would he work well with the celtics? I believe so. If Glen Davis could be worked out, I might take him. KryptoNate, nah, we don't need a guard like that who's not gonna be more than a backup [who can dunk]. Psh! We could get SHAQ for Rudy! (oozing sarcasm.)
In all honesty, you would have to give up more than Rudy for almost any of the players in reach. Of course a dream (for me, at least) would be to have Ray Allen, but forget about that happening.
Also keep in mind the two gunners for that final roster spot on the C's are Rudy and Larry Hughes. If I'm the C's, I'm probly taking Hughes, but we'll see. (I hope I'm wrong.)

Anyone else sick and tired of the Rudy rumors? Seriously, they are like cockroaches, they just don't die or go away. Either report a completed trade or talk about something else media! It's like every other week he's rumored to be going to a different team, the the cycle repeats itself all over again.

Just please get him out of Rip City!

If I were gm, I would trade Rudy for a big man. I see no point at all in adding to the guard jam.
Big baby earned his name when KG made him cry. I don't want him here.
I would take Scalabrine and his expiring contract though.

Can free agents be traded ? Or would Boston have to sign him , then trade him ?
IDK, thats why I'm not the gm. :)

    @Kim~
They (free agents) have to be signed to be traded. There's a move called sign-and-trade. This way, the team that originally owned the free agent can get something in return instead of losing the player for nothing.

Problem is is that any resigned player or player signed out of free agency can't be traded for 3 months orDec. 15th (whichever comes first).  With the Celtics, only 3 or 4 players can be traded.  (KG, Big Baby, and a couple rookies).  I'd trade for Glen Davis and a pick.  And going along with what Hawes said, i'd rather have one in 2013 then now.

I have no problem waiting until the trade deadline to move Rudy.  Let him stay in Spain, he is only damaging his own reputation in the nba.
By February,  we can see what shakes loose around the league, and the coaching staff will have a better idea of how AJ and EW fit.  If the fit is right, package Rudy and JBay for a big.   The right player for the Blazers may not be available any time soon.  Just because Rudy is in a hurry, doesnt mean the Blazers don't have to be.

I think one of the whole points of a forum is to speculate and share news of the Blazer rumors. I know that everyone is tired of hearing about Rudy, but articles such as these provide people with a topic of discussion and can share their opinion on the rumor. I think its good to hear what fans would want from different teams. I don't think half the discussion topics would exist if it weren't for speculation and rumor, because that's what most of these topics start off as.

honestly i believe the celtics concider glen davis to be more valueable than they do rudy. i seriously doubt they'd trade straight across. now throw in a couple other pieces? maybe... but the celtics arn't looking to rebuild... they're looking to Win now. so in doing so they're not going to make a trade that is going to hurt that.

i believe if they were to trade one of their bigs it would be after perkins is back... but even then.. i dont think they will... especially with big baby. if KG gets hurt and they trade away big baby.. where are they at the PF posistion?

also dont believe they'll trade nate robinson. they  traded eddie house for him to get someone that could come off the bench and create his own shot... after his post season he had where him and baby davis won games against orlando for them...

so honestly? no to the celtics.. unless its a 2012 or 2013 1st rounder.

So, IF Rudy does get traded, does Nic change his number to 5? That's the number he wears for France.

Well said.  Ditto.  Portland is now rumored to be interested in signing Mills, but to do that, would need to clear a roster spot.  Getting a valuable future 1st rounder from Boston looks likely.
