    Here's your chance!

There have been ALOT of names posted on this site as to who should be our PGOTF.  If and when Cho and company decide to pull the trigger on a change at the starting PG spot, the decision will not be made without first having considered A NUMBER of variables.  Here I have listed 10 such criteria.

Your challenge:  itemize each of these factors, in order of importance to you, starting with the single most important consideration...in your opinion, and finishing with what you feel to be the least important.  Be cerebral in your responses!

    In no particular order...
    1) Size (Ht, Wt?)
    2)Age (relative to existing core)
3)Perimeter game offensively (ability to shoot)
    4)Chemistry (cohesiveness with teammates)
5)Penetration (ability to collapse opposing defenses by getting to the rim)
6)Health (history of injury, drug, or alcohol abuse?)
    7)Character
8)Ability to run Nate's offense (floor general, clock management, basketball IQ, etc)
9)Overall scoring ability (respect demanded from opposition's defensive schemes)
    10)Defense

I am very interested to see where the priorities of the most rabid fan base in the league rest, where it comes to adding a major piece to an already promising roster...HAVE FUN WITH THIS!

Unfortunately Dawg, i can only think of a select few, who in fact arent all of select staure , you feel me. The pg you described, and stop me if im wrong, is a minimum of a sinewy 6'4 , wearing 215, is 23, ambidextrous as Roy, has selective spot explosiveness, dribbles with his head up,masters the pick roll, pop or split, and pressures the rock full court?  I'll get flack, but, id have to say, wait for it.... Arenas. I know, i know, gun play. But up until that point ,Gilbert had only been guilty of being a little quirky and bit to adolescent. I think he deserves a second chance, but thats just me. In Portland he would have an opportunity to redeem himself. Afterall, what better place to wash away your sins than in the Liquid Sunshine State. Odens pic, Brandons video, although not as stained, but blemishes nonetheless. Real talk, the boy can play, and Nate likes big guards. It'll never happen, but cannot i dream?  Deron Williams, all day. Rondo, yep. Mayo, perhaps.
I am a fan of our new roster playing with and for eachother.

Arenas does deserve a second chance in my honest opinion, but lets face it .. This Portland team has been constructed pourposfully to be a GOOD group of guys not gangsta or thuggish or anything of that nature ..

Thats exactly what we have right now .. and were actually doing exceedingly well as the time rolls by Portland is getting better and better in each year ..

Arenas has been shown (due to his recent troubles with the whole gun situation) that he is two faced one a always smiling always joking type of guy (public face) and the other being this thuggish gangsta who whips out guns when he gets ticked on of all places .. TEAM JETS !!

    Sorry but as I've stated Arenas does deserve a second shot .. Just not with my beloved Blazers .. P L E A S E ! ! ! !

    1. DEFENSE !!  I'd like to see pressure on the ball before it gets into the paint ,  half court if not full court press, we have the young legs to do it ;)
    2. ability to run Nates offense
    3. size / height / wingspan
    4. chemistry
    5. scoring ability. whether its penetration or shooting, point are points :)

I'm not willing to give up half the current roster to land Rose or Rondo.
So my $ is still on Johnson and Williams. This may actually be the year Nate plays a rookie without someone being injured.
I REALLY wish I could see training camp , I want to see Rex go up against the rookies with my own eyes before I can make a decision of who will win pg musical chairs this season.  Since that isnt going to happen, I can only hope Nate gets the final call on that decision.

I'll be a rebel and stay on topic...
    1) Chemistry (...because, without this, nothing else would matter)
    2) Ability to run the offense
    3) Overall scoring ability (another target is needed for opposing defenses and for the extension of Roy's career and window of opportunity for title)
    4) Age (preferrably mid 20's.  Would like to see this group stay together for SEVERAL title runs and end the musical chairs routine...)
    5) Health (because we're talking about the Portland Trailblazers)
    6) Size (history shows bigger PG's win titles and are more successful in general in the postseason)
    7) Perimeter game (don't think explanation needed here)
    8) Penetration (ability to collapse a defense with the draw-and-dish with guys like Oden, Camby, Priz, and Matthews waiting from point blank...INSANE)
    9) Character (not NEARLY as important upon arrival as is after)
    10) Defense (anything better than Euro-D will be "adequate" with the current roster as is)

Well BDawg,  Nic completely blows the Euro's cant play D out the window. How about, they cant play with a cape ? Imo, you can never have enough good defenders.
Things 6-10 above are things I'm not that I'm not that concerned about.

I really hope we are not having this conversation again next year with insert new pg's name here.......

There is an exception to every rule (or generalization...:), in this case its obviously Nico.  I rated the defense as low as I did ONLY because OF Nico, Wesley, our shot blockers, AND...the flexibility of having a guy like Armon waiting at the scorer's table AT THAT POSITION if need be.  This team needs someone who can help in the scoring department now IMO.  I only accept critique from those willing to justify their "ends" with "means"...lol (that would only be you to this point).  For everyone else, put up or shut up.

Personally as far as giving someone a second chance I am all for it but when you bring a gun into the locker room and point it at someone you used 3 chances up. The only sport Gilbert should be playing is pick up that bar of soap game in Walla Walla. Sorry off topic a bit.
    1. ability to run the offense
    2. Passing ability
    3. Chemistry (should come easy with the players we have)
    4. Defense
    5. Scoring ability. Dont have to be a 3 shooter but he should be able to take it to the hoop
    6. Small is not necesseraly a bad thing but bigger would be better.
    7. Health/Age is a factor but if your young enough it should work out.
    8. Character. What you do when you get here matters. Tired of gangsta's dont want them dont need them.

    1.  Passing ability
    2. 3 point shooting(a good three point shooter would be the perfect compliment to brandon and oden because when they are doubled they could kick it out to the pg)
    3. defense
    4. chemistry
    5. age
6.scoring ability( we already have a lot of good offensive weapons and don't necesarily need our pg to be able to do much other than hit the trey and pass offensively
    7. size
    8. character(we already have enough nice guys on our team so one jerk on a roster of 15 shouldnt disrupt chemistry that much)
    9. health
    10. pennetration( we already have b-roy, oden, bayless, miller and johnson for that)
I am a fan of the Blazers draft selections. Feels good to finally be able to say that
