HoopsHype is showing Brian T Smith tweeting that Blazers are exploring keeping Patrick Mills. He is also reporting that Portland refuses to give Rudy away for "free" but is actively seeking a trade.

The Trail Blazers are really in a bind when it comes to Rudy. There have been no secrets about his wanting out of Portland, which puts us in a disadvantage when other teams try to make an offer on him because they'll lowball us, knowing Rudy wants out.

    From John Hollinger-

"Gotta wonder if new Hornets GM Dell Demps' first order of business will be trying to trade for Rudy Fernandez. Team needs a 2 and shooters. I have no inside info on that one, just wondering out loud. Makes too much sense."

I wonder if a package surrounding Darren Collison could work out.

Yeah, but he also continues to make it difficult to trade him because he wants big minutes for a contender type team and continues to say he won't play for the potential suitors because they aren't the team he wants and so the trade stalls

Collison would be interesting, and given a fair enough trade NO could become a decent enough team to make the playoffs

maybe the NO GM would trade CP3 to the Blazer for Andre Miller, Nick Batum, Rudy Fernandez, J. Pryzbilla, and $3 million, it gives them everything they need, and gives us an amazing PG

Even with Matthews, I'm still reluctant to give up Batum, but that would be tempting. I really don't think Paul is on the market anymore. I think New Orleans is moving forward.

Well, given the trend in relation to my posts over the last 24 hours I'm going to say This will NEVER Happen. Not in a MILLION Years would Chris Paul agree to a trade to come to Portland. Never, ever, ever, ever. This would ONLY happen if Pigs learned how to fly and (you know where) were to freeze over. There that should do it.

Let's keep Mills! I have seen him play in college a few times, including the win vs Davidson (Curry). He just needs a chance to get in the game, not just in garbage time

Can't forget his college career. After all he played in the WCC which includes basketball POWER HOUSES like the University of Portland, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, San Diego, and San Francisco. Pooh Jeter and Adam Morrison were star players in the WCC too and look how well that has translated for them. I know Mills can play better, he torched the D-League last year and he's killed in international play, but I don't think his college career is something we should really fall back on.

Nate didnt even mention Mills when asked about the pg competition on courtside last night.
Like I have said all along about this years edition of Blazer pg musical chairs, I will believe in Mills when Nate does.
Rex is in for some competition with Williams and Johnson in town.

He might not have been in the best college but they did compete vs Gonzaga and don't forget that as a freshman, he beat then ranked Oregon. Besides, if he couldn't play then why is he still around and not cut by now?

Norcal, I'm with you.  Unfortunately when Patty was drafted by Portland, I beleive Portland drafted on what they thought was the best talent available at that stage in the draft - Rnd 2 number 55 pick, and not on what player would best suit the Blazers game style and position shortage.  Obviously their is a log jam at the pg position, so hey lets draft another pg.  Anyone who has followed Patty's development in basketball will know that he was a projected 1st rounder until he broke his hand in his 2nd year at St.Mary's, followed by a broken foot in summer league followed by minuscule playing time in garbage minutes on a team that has a log jam of pg's with a coach that doesn't play rookies and tactically plays a slower tempo half court game....whoa better take a breath here!

So here in lies the question-  Do you cut a kid who really hasn't had the opportunity to show how he can add to the teams value, or keep him and see how he does, now that he has had an injury free pre season- get his body right, take the reins off and maybe use him as an uptempo sub for Andre.  I'd hate to see him get moved on, only to shine at another ball club.

FYI.  Patty Mills has been  elevated to starting point guard for the Australian  team after its nominated starting pg C.J. Bruton pulled out due to injuries. Lets see how Patty does leading the team - should be a good test for him.  Australia will open the Stankovic Continental Cup with a clash against host nation and Asian powerhouse China (ranked number nine in the world - when Yao Ming plays) on Wednesday 28 July.
In Game Two, Australia will face off against powerful European team Slovenia, who are ranked 20th in the world, on Thursday 29 July.
Australia will then take on Iran (ranked 21st globally) in their last preliminary game on Friday 30 July. All three of Australia’ opponents in the event have qualified for the 2010 FIBA World Championships.

I wish Mills and Rudy both the best of luck.
But reality is reality, and Nate is not going to play either of them enough to make them happy. If they are still around when the season starts.
Let them be stars in their countries.
I dont want to hear any more playing time whinning.....

I think we should keep both Mills and Johnson, just send one to the d-league and if by mid season it's not working out, call one up and send one down. I swear Mills just needs a chance to actually play and he will do just fine. The FIBA tournament will decide who stays and who goes

i dont think you give up batum if at all possible and if you do then better get to keep someone else like a rudy or something but i dont believe the talk is over paul wants out i gurantee it because new orleans isnt any better they still have this problem. CP3 and Collison are both about 6 ft and there speed demons and play the same postion new orleans hasnt dumped any contracts and are still hurting for money i like patty mills but a move needs to happen for portland they got wesley for webster there similiar players so its tradeoff there portland isnt any better they need to get someone maybe greg oden finaly puts it together and goes injury free and batum becomes the star we thought well then alls good but you still have dilima miller only has a year or two left he is old so do you trust and hope bayless becomes the guy to control team? or do you go out and get the best point guard the league has had in a long time?
I am a fan of getting CP3 in a blazer uniform.
