I'm very disappointed with this trade. Kevin Pritchard is out of his mind to get rid of Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw, for someone stupid who doesn't even wanna come here. I've been trying to look on the bright side...at the end of this season, all 3 players contracts expire, meaning we could GIVE back Camby, and GET back Blake and Outlaw.
I am a fan of how great these blazers did in the 2010 playoffs! i know we lost, but it was still fun to watch. we'll go farther next year!!

Where did you hear that he didn't want to come here? The only report I read from Yahoo Sports was that he was upset at the fact he has been traded again, not the fact to whom he was traded to. I mean, put yourself in shoes. You have a comfortable life in LA, made friends, and his family is settled, now everything has been uprooted.

I really don't mind seeing Blake go. He was a great person but we have Bayless and Miller, which is more than plenty at the PG spot. Outlaw on the other hand, will be missed for his clutch scoring, but I feel a little better dealing him knowing how well Dante has played lately.

ESPN MVP it clearly said he did NOT want to come to portland, and that he wanted to stay in LA, but i guess what done is done, should not have sent outlaw, but maybe we'll get him back this summer when his contract is up.
Never thought portland would actually make a trade during the middle of the season, i remember KP saying, "we want to try and keep what we have, and work everything out".
Wonder whats going to happen next year when we have three centers and 2 pgs.

i'm stilll a die hard fan though!

    GO BLAZERS!

a few things... having 3 centers and 2 PG's is no problem at all, considering a team is supposed to have a team of at least 12 players heading into the season. second, camby is an aging guy who's contract ends after this year, and there is little reason for us to re-sign him anyway...

now, my opinion is that although blake is a great glue guy, he didn't hold a spot in our rotation anymore. andre miller fits what we need in a traditional style PG, bayless is great off the bench at SG or PG... although I love outlaw (and forementioned clutch shooting) wouldn't you all prefer that he defer to brandon or LaMarcus in such situations anyway? and it frees up playing time for fernandez and webster.

I don't really think that blake and outlaw would've been re-signed anyway really.

(sidenote: what should we expect of patty mills? I seriously know nothing of his prior experience and would like to know about his skill set.)

This is a good trade because it doesn't do any permanent damage. All 3 players contracts are expiring. This way we can resign whoever was the best fit. So next year we'll most likely have our original 2 centers again unless we make a deep run in the playoffs this year. I kinda think we should be holding onto as much cash as possible so that we could make a small splash this offseason, but overall pretty happy about it. Also frees up more playing time for Jerryd and Rudy and we might even get a glimpse at Patty Mills now that he is our 3rd PG. Regardless, I bet Juwan's happy to get some more relief off the bench. Curious though, will Camby be playing tonight against the clippers?

I wish... but I'm almost positive that since the deal only became official today that camby, outlaw, and blake have to undergo a physical before they can play. I do know at least that blake won't be on the blazers tonight. he wasn't on the starting 5 thing for the site ha if that is reliable.

This trade is definitely a positive move for the Blazers. Outlaw was a great player, true but no one has made the point that Dante Cunningham has shown veteran like composure in substantial minutes and I would say has the potential to be an even better player than Outlaw, with more of a defense/ rebound mentality that compliments with BRoy or Aldridge on the floor. Camby may be a quick fix just for this season but I think he'll make an already great rebounding team in the Blazers even better and lead to more fast break and second chance points.

I have to give kudos to kevin pritchard too for making a tough call from the front office, but the call had to be made in a step toward defining roles. Outlaw has had plenty of time to live up to his "potential" but when do we face facts that Mr 4th quarter has averaged under 10 points and 3 rebounds for his carreer?

Keep an eye on Cunningham and realize when a GM has the balls to make the tough call to build a team with solidarity.

The Blazers have the Yin of young bring stars and the Yang of seasoned veterans... It's definitely a great time to be a blazer!

I agree with much that has been said already. Except the person stating that Pritchard is stupid. This trade makes perfect sense.

    A) We need another big right now. You don't throw possible playoffs seasons away. Each playoff series is important for financial and developmental reasons.
    B) Even on the slight chance that Oden does return for the playoffs this season, he won't be playing many minutes...either for foul reasons or cautionary health reasons.
    C) Blake and Outlaw can be resigned in the offseason if that makes sense to do.
    D) This trade frees up playing time for all concerned...especially further development of Bayless, Nic, Webster, Rudy (yes Rudy has a ways to go too), and Cunningham (who I think may be the biggest steal in the last 10 years).
    E) I have not heard any negatives about Canby off the court and he can provide what we need...veteran team defense and a swatter at the rim when our porous defense allows penetration.
    F) Howard has done an amazing job but his body can't take all the minutes.
    G) Who knows, if MC enjoys his short stay with us maybe he will want to play a support role next year? Lord knows that even when GO and JP are healthy they have a hard time staying out of foul trouble anyhow.

Most of us love all these guys KP has on the roster (including Blake and TO) but the bottom line is he has done such a good job drafting that we many good players of the same type, age, and experience. But we need more defense, especially interior defense.

We didn't sacrifice our future with this trade...nothing has changed. In fact we helped our future. We may have even helped our chances of resigning Blake or Outlaw if we want them, as I suspect once they get a taste of Baron Davis and the Clippers they may be eager to come back.

Good luck Marcus, Travis, and Steve. Here is hoping you will on be on our roster next year!

This trade makes perfect sense for this season. Marcus will fill a short term void and will increase his trade status for the off season. Next year, we have GO and Superman Pryz coming back.
We also have Cunningham improving every minute on the floor. Next year, we will let Marcus and Miller go, bring back Blake, and we will be competing for the West Title. Blake will always be a Blazer, even if he never gets in the red and black uni again.
Bye Steve, you will be missed, especially when everyone finds out what I alreay know, and that is the FACT that Miller and BRoy cannot play on the same team.

Camby will give us much more individually than either Blake or Travis, and that's just the simple truth. He is a great player who will provide great contributions. Besides, who else do we have at center? No one, not a "true" center anyways. Who else do we have at Blake's position? Miller, Bayless, Mills, and even Roy running things on occasion (when his hammy isn't bum, anyways.) Who else do we have at Travis's position(s)? Aldridge, Batum, Howard, Pendergraph, Cunningham, Martell...

Yeah, I think this was a good move for the team.

A poor move if you care more about the players on the team rather than the team's success on the court, but honestly, this is going to be better for Travis as he will get a lot more opportunity. If you truly love the guy, appreciate and be happy for him! As for Blake, who knows, maybe he'll get reshuffled to a team that needs an average, steady point guard (New York?)

Camby gives us Defense, rebounds, a shot blocker, and some help for Lamarcus inside.  Just as importantly this trims 1 player from each of our logjams.  I like Blake but Rudy and Bayless both have more upside and NEED more minutes.  I will miss Travis but I like Batum and Martel too and one of them had to go.

BlazerFan777, ... that is a killer post you put up on this thread, ... you have got it completely covered in points A thru G.

Watching the Lakers - Blazers game last week, many fans were asking how the Blazers would match up inside (after the trade deadline, with a trade made for a "big") with the Lakers "bigs" of Bynum, Odom, & Gasol during a post-season playoff matchup.

Could an older "big" (like Chris Webber, for example) or some other 7 footer, be lured out of semi-retirement, or retirement, to beef up the Blazer's defense (inside) against tandems like L.A's Odom / Gasol / Bynum, or Cleveland's big men of Ilgauskas / O'Neal / Hickson.

Just thinking back to the days of the dominant tandem of David Robinson / Tim Duncan with the Spurs, and whether or not the Blazers will need an inside tandem like that, ... to journey "deep" into the Playoffs, .. or at least beyond the second round.  What do you think ?

The Pistons '88, '89, '90 Championship teams had a strong inside presence with Laimbeer / Rodman / Mahorn / J. Edwards.  Maybe the Blazers won't need a strong inside presence like that ?

I agree with you Mary.  We can hope that the Blazers will be able to get them back onto the team roster for next season.  Both of them added a lot to the team's chemistry.  Wishing them both the best of success with the Clippers.

The first trade of what i call "Let's Mortgage the future to make a playoff run!". KP, Paul (No personal attacks on the owner of the franchise you cheer for in regards to his cancer treatment) and co. you ******(watch the language) up again! first you pick ODEN over DURANT! You wouldn't want a high scoring lebron type of threat on your team, that may mean a championship! Now besides my pent up anger from 2 years ago, does this years playoffs mean anything?? after the year we've had, showing some real improvment even with all the injuries, you're going to trade off two of our workhorses for camby? why can you not go 6 months without a trade? go golf or sip wine from your luxury penthouse and stop screwing with a team that needs just a couple more years to be in REAL playoff contention.
I am a fan of anything but the blazers at this point.

I think this was a bad move, two valuable players and a million and a half bucks, not a good deal !    I believe this trade will come back to bite us in the butt , look at what Frey is doing now that he has playing time, the same will happen with Outlaw and Blake.   Camby is 36, what happened to the youth factor for a big future, we are now getting old, aundre Miller, Juwan Howard, and now Camby,....   I wonder at front office wisdom, just like I did when they took Oden , look how that turned out.....

Excellent addition to the team!  His addition, Outlaw/Blake subtraction, will pay dividends in the win/loss column.  Hopefully this dating period can turn into a 2-3 year extended courtship.

Blake got his first Clipper action tonight at home against the Hawks and looked very pedestrian in doing so. Baron Davis was out with an injury, leaving the starting duties up to Steve.
    3 points, 1-6 shooting, 9 assists, and 3 turnovers

Travis was by far and away my favorite Blazer since Clyde and it really sucks seeing him leave, but the fact of the matter is that one way or another some of these guys will be leaving in the future. We simply have too much talent and a consolidation trade was much needed. I don't buy the fact we mortgaged our future as Blake was the 3rd best point guard on the roster, with Miller and Bayless holding court at the 1. Outlaw's 4th quarter scoring will be missed dearly, but Dante has been filling in nicely as the team's best mid-range jumper.
It is very difficult to not to too attached to these players, since they are awesome both on and off the court, but this is still a business and the trade had to be made to give us some size up front. I'm a fan of Camby and this trade but not a fan of giving up Outlaw. Hopefully we can find a spot for him in the offseason.

The 9 dimes from Blake was nice to see from him. I feel kinda bad for him seeing the Clippers have thrown away the season and probably won't get many wins the rest of the season and I know Blake hates losing. On a side note ATL looked so good playing that horrible Clips team, probably my favorite Eastern Conference team and mirror the Blazers in many ways.
