I would say any big body is gonna help at this point but he's too similar to Howard bigger upshot on defense but just not as cool/funny a person. He could split time with Howard to lower his minutes not sure if these are the kinds of players were settling for at this point instead of going after a bigger name. I wouldn't be opposed if we got him and didn't lose a big piece.

If Thomas was any type of a real contributor, then I might say Yes, but otherwise, it doesn't look like this trade would benefit us in any real way.

My question, first off, is who would we be coughing up in exchange for Thomas? Anything beyond KP's cash is too much in my opinion.

Second, in regards to his stats, Thomas on average is putting up anywhere between 4 and 6 points, at most, a game, not to mention 4 rebounds total. In saying this, I have to ask, what is our coaching staff's ability to help struggling players to put serious points together? Much less serious defense? What has Thomas done on defense to really be a threat out there? Since he's been in the league, he's been a minor contributor with San Antonio, and even less of one with Milwaukie.

Third, and finally, L-Train is already holdin' it down with his playing abilities as a Forward-Center crossover. Do we really need another L-Train, or another Oden/Przybilla? I think we need another pure Center more than we need a crossover, unless Thomas has hops like Jordan, the hand skills of Derek Fisher, and the mid-air gliding of Drexler, which is highly unlikely.

No offense to Thomas, but this trade would not benefit Portland. Any rebuttals?

I think KP is looking at pieces that we can get that will help with depth without sacrificing big major pieces of the team. I trust KP in his personel choices, his intrest in Thomas means he feels that Howard, LMA, DC, and Jeff can hold the front court for the end of the season and that another vet with experience will be enough. It may also mean that no one will give us a reasonable trade offer for a center that doesn't involve players KP doesn't want to trade.

I would trade Blake for Thomas, just to open up minutes at guard for Rudy and Bayless, otherwise Blake will continue to take the minutes of our younger players in a season that should be focused on player development.

I agree with ClydeFrog, with Miller, Bayless, Rudy and Blake Portland should get some center for blake but I don't think Kurt Thomas is best option maybe another Thomas , Tyrus from Chicago I red on Yahoo that they want to trade him, What do You think ? But Bulls have problems with his charakter ! But You never know how he would play for Blazers ?  Maybe we should try ?

Chicago values Tyrus the way we value Rudy. It would take much more than Blake to get Thomas.
Tyrus is Outlaw without the jump shot. Ok, he does have some sick blocks but we have Travis as the backup 4 and I don't think Tyrus can play the center at all.
I'd love to go after Dalembert as it looks like Philly is in full re-build mode!

Dalembert would help us so much if we could get him. He would give us exactly what we need a big body that will grab some boards.

Chris Sheridan of ESPN.Com reported in his chat today that the Wiz could go for Blake/Outlaw for Haywood at the last minute..yay or nay?
Outlaw is my fv. player so it would be a tough pill to swallow, but definitely a good deal talent/needs wise.

I would pull the trigger on that. I'm not a huge fan of Outlaw mainly because he hasen't developed into the player I know he can be with all of his athletic ability. Give him the green light and 35+ minutes and he will do some damage on the score board no question about that.

Yes, I think it over, Dalembert fit in our team with his good rebounding and blocking and plus 10 points per game is exactly what we need. Maybe it is possible to get him to Portland !

Kurt Thomas definitely would add to this current team if the price was right.
I am a proponent though of not just looking for someone for this season, but making a trade for someone that can help longterm at the PF/C position.  Invest in a higher caliber player than can back up both positions.

Yeah, he was tripping with that Scottie Pippen reference. Nowhere as good as him, BUUUTTT, I think he can be, if he plays like a man. In Euroleague, you are taught more about finesse, and the fundamentals. He needs to put a little more muscle on, ...
