    The Trail Blazers rattled off two eight-game winning streaks during the season then captured 10 of their last 13 contests to post a 53-29 record for the year, second only to the 58-years earlier by the 1977-78 team.     Coach P.J. Carlisemo's charges staged one of the biggest late-season turnarounds in team history to keep its string of playoff appearances intact and boost the club's final record above the .500 mark for the 17th time in 19 years. On March 5, the Blazers were eight games below the break-even point (26-34) and were mired in a streak where they had won only five of 18 games and had dropped a team-record six in a row at home.     Pretty easy choice here. The 88 team won 50+ games and was one year prior to exploding for those 3 straight conference championship runs, making the Finals twice.

    The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.
