How long are the blazers gonna keep thinking that MacMillan is a coach? Once again, he can't find a way to coach a team to a win they should have had standing on their heads.

I think he has done an admirable job this year given the circumstances, but I do question his substitution patterns/decision making. First off, not starting Miller from day 1 was a mistake that cost us a few wins early on. You do not sign a marquee free-agent to play them with the 2nd unit, good fit or not.
Secondly, we really REALLY need to get away from playing isolation basketball. It works at times with Roy, but if a shot is missed out of this offense, our other players are in poor position to rebound.
Finally, I am very alarmed this team can't find a way to close out games like they did last year. Same situation against Memphis..up 8, 4 minutes to go..couldn't seal the deal. We do not play aggressive enough down the stretch and seem to play not to lose instead of trying to win.
My question for anyone who wants Nate gone: Who could we realistically replace him with that is available and would want to coach here?

I think we can all agree it wasn't the greatest of coaching performances, but thats the way the cookie crumbles. I'm sure Phil Jackson, Jerry Sloan, Rudy T, etc have all had difficult games. My question is: Why is everyone blaming the coach when the starters got off to such a poor start?

I saw the thread title "how long?" and thought this might have been a thread regarding Greg Oden's recent photos... hi-oooooo!! Ok, that was bad...  :P

As for Nate, I think he's doing an alright job, but you can't blame him for our players not getting it done down the stretch. It doesn't really matter how the starters do at the beginning of games, or who Nate has on the floor at the end. The bottom line is that, in tight games, WHOEVER is on the floor (be it because they should be there or because of a wacky McMillan rotation) needs to be able to grab the bull by the horns and execute! Because right now, no one is getting squat done in the final 3-4 minutes.

Nate is a terrific coach. Do you folks realize how cruddy this team was when he started workin' here? No, no, no, we're lucky to have him. He is a great mentor and understands NBA basketball. Do we need a better offensive playbook, oh there's no doubt about it. But I blame the assistants, and missing HALF OUR TEAM for that.
Back in the day, Nate's best games were when he had 2 points, 5ast, 5stls, 10 boards and a couple blocks. He's a defensive guy. And that certainly shows when the Blazers do well this season, because they play great defense. But the NBA is not like the NFL, in this league you gotta put punches in bunches up on the scoreboard. Your defense can't just shut a team down for the entire game. Unless you're playing against the Nets I guess.

I personally do not credit Nate with a lot. There is also no physical proof he has done anything. The improvement of this team can be credited to many things. We played good when everyone was gone well that made his job very easy to do. When everyone is back the stupid patterns start we play with less momentum. We sub out guys who cant miss and break groups of guys that are running. I do not like his coaching style never have never will and thats my personal preference on coaching. Him being a great coach is yet to be seen as he got schooled in the playoffs with the Blazers and at the end of the day thats is what matters. I also think are young talent could be handled better which comes to the whole staff which is his responsibility to over see.

In my opinion MacMillan still looking for players and aslo optimum tactic but it last to long ! but is there enough good free coach that could change him ? No , but I think that he can coach blazers this season and next and when the effect will be poor, Portland should find another coach !

Dont think they trade him for JJ tho, they can just sign Hickson.

I would agree LMA is a decent defender but his help defense and team defense needs a lot of work. It is in these areas that Bosh really separates himself from LMA and it is because of that he is a better player than LMA despite not putting the sam...

I was looking at some shooting stats and came across a very very alarming stat. LMA was the league leader in FGA from 16-23 feet. Not only was he the leader he was lead by a mile. His 7.3 attempts from this distance easily outpaced Demar Derozan w...

Sug I would start with him outscoring Wesley Matthews. He also needs to get his FTA up and his FG% up and cut down the turnovers.

His defense was decent last year but not that good as he is either too weak or just unwil...
