1979-80: Overall record: 38-44 (13th in league, 6th in conference, 4th in division) New faces came on the scene, among them Calvin Natt, Kermit Washington, Kevin Kunnert, Jim Paxson and Billy Ray Bates. Gone were three players who had big roles in the 1977 championship run---Bill Walton, Maurice Lucas and Lionel Hollins. CONTINUE READING/Become of fan of this team

1971-72: Overall record: 18-64 (17th in league, 9th in conference, 5th in division) Under new head coach Jack McCloskey, the Blazers struggled to a 21-61 finish and won just 13 times at home. But Portland, with two of the league's top-10 scorers (Geoff Petrie, 24.9 ppg, and Sidney Wicks, 23.8 ppg) providing the punch, played an upbeat, fastbreak brand of basketball that helped boost home attendance by more than 1,000 a game over the previous season. Got to go with 79-80. They won 20 more games, had Paxon and Billy Ray Bates..I think their athleticism would have been too much for the 71-72 squad who still had a lot of the expansion players on the roster.

Billy Ray Bates puts them over the top. Plus, the 1971 team won 18 games. Sorry, but there is NO way they deserve to get into the second round.

The only good thing about that 71-72 was that I could sit anywhere I wanted in the memorial coliseum! LOL Seriously though, the downfall was having Petrie and Wicks on the same team. Even though both were great, it was just those two providing our offence and nobody else getting involved...and when they had a bad night (Wicks or Petrie) it was usually a blowout by our opposition. It was evident to me even at an early age that one of them would have to go soon and get a few well rounded players in exchange. This team definatley lose's to the 79-80 boys.

Time will tell. As it is well known round these parts, I do not have much hope for athletic big men. (JJ Hickson doesn''t count).

Okay, I''ll admit it, I like Asik better. I definitely think they will both have very good careers. And finally, someone who agrees, that Ibaka is a  shot blocker, not really a great defender.

Magic have a center and tons of young talent, extra picks and a future with a lot of cap space so yah the MAGIC.

Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.

Here''s my best Mock Draft scenario for the Blazers:

Trade every pick we can to get a starting defensive Center.

We have enough young guys, we need to wi...
