    Post-Game Thoughts
In what looked like "Memphis 2.0", the Blazers fought their way back from a 54-43 halftime deficit behind absolutely amazing nights from Roy and Aldridge, Joel on the glass, and timely scoring from Jerryd Bayless. Although it was far from a drubbing, the game should not have been as close as it was. I give Coach Nate all the credit in the world for making halftime adjustments, but we really need to start out games by working Aldridge in the post. We did this to start the 2nd half, and their 11 point lead was evaporated in less than a few minutes, making it a competitive again. By visiting the plethora of Blazer message boards, the fan opinion on Aldridge really differs between All-Star or elite forward. Personally, I believe he can and will be the top power forward in 2-3 years once Dirk, Duncan, and KG all start to decline. He possesses every move in the post from the fade away to the up and under. It is true he needs to work on his face up game, but this kid is a scoring machine and not many players have the skill to defend against his offensive repertoire. Outside of his 25 points and 5 assists, I was most impressed with his 8 2nd half rebounds. We were getting out played and out worked in the 1st half and I noticed he only had 1 board through 2 quarters. Whatever got into him in the 2nd half, we need more of that. With his length and athleticism, 8-10 boards a night should be a walk in the park

Brandon looked like he was back tonight. He shot 50% from the field (10-20), handed out 10 assists, pulled down 5 rebounds, and scored 25 points. With our record being not so illustrious this season, he'll have to put up these type of numbers to be recognized as an All-Star for the 3rd consecutive season. I really don't buy the fact that Roy plays his best when he is out there with Blake as he looked extremely comfortable with both Andre and Jerryd playing alongside of him. If we want to make a serious push for the playoffs, we need to Roy and LaMarcus to be our Shaq and Kobe. Regardless of whether they are as talented as those two, the Blazers need those two to take the majority of the shots, lead by example, and make others around them better.

Outside of our dynamic duo, each and every game looks like it will hinder on two things. Joel Przybilla being able to stay on the court and getting a consistent 15 points a night from one player as our 3rd scoring option. When the Thrilla was on the court, his +/- was +27, +15 higher than any other Trail Blazer. It was no coincidence when Joel got hampered by 3 fouls in the first two quarters, the Kings were able to score at will in the paint and extend their lead. Without Greg and even Pendergraph, our interior defense becomes very spotty without him on the floor, so he could be the most valuable Trail Blazer.

"Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty, Jerryd was freed at last." A lot of people, including myself, have been hoping for Bayless to get significant playing time with all of these injuries and it happened last night when he tallied a season-high 24 minutes and played nearly the entire 4th quarter. Huge kudos must be given to Coach McMillan for sticking with Jerryd through his rough 1st half which saw him get posted up twice by Ime Udoka and send an outlet pass into the 5th row of center court, way above the outstretched hand of Steve Blake. Coach believed in Jerryd and he delivered with some timely, timely buckets down the stretch. With the game close and the shot clock winding down, Jerryd got the ball on a few occasions and just let instinct take over as he darted to the hoop. He didn't make the bucket, but got to the foul line, which is something this team needs from players other than Brandon. Bayless is a scoring point guard, but that is perfectly fine, because Roy loves to handle the ball. Also, with Rudy and Travis out, we desperately need a consistent 3rd scorer, so if he is able to get us 15 a night, it would really help soften up the defense on Roy and LA.

this is the reason i like bayless the most. 8- 10 from the free point line last night. he has the ability to get inside and draw a foul, and we need more of that. bayless this year is 46 - 60 from the charity stripe and 35 - 68 for FG. he was getting limited minutes and putting up good numbers and im glad he is going to see more minutes now.

I agree Bayless came through when Blake wasn't. Yes, Blake did score once from downtown, but didn't provide much of anything else offensively by going only 2-4. Defensively, he was a non-issue providing 1 Rebound and 1 Steal (according to ESPN Mobile; I'll give him the benefit of the doubt on that 1 steal).

One thing that caught my attention, as I'm sure y'all have heard of, is the fact that the NBA has granted the Trailblazers a Hardship Extension, allowing us to sign an additional person due to the injuries.

My question: Do y'all think we need another Center to replace Pryz and Howard, or another Point Guard to replace Blake? Personally, I think we need another Center, provided that Bayless can keep up the pressure offensively long enough for us to get Patty Mills back (so that we can see what the heck he can do, aside from what he did at St. Mary's).

At this rate, it would make more sense to develop Bayless's perimeter game, so that he can step into Blake's until-now, current role at PG, thereby allowing us the ability to scoop up another Center and eventually dump Blake at the end of his contract. Webster is still doing good, despite his "supposed slump" from downtown, so there's no need to worry there.

    What do y'all think?

Not only did we sign Anthony Tolliver with our hardship exception, but now Patty Mills will be allowed to travel with the team? Is this just to get him accustomed to life on the road or is he further along than we thought?

Back to Bayless. I really think he could be the spark that gets us through this rough patch of time until Rudy gets back. He is just so relentless and fearless when attacking the hoop and the referees reward aggressiveness.

How about this for the future? A 3 guard rotation of Roy, Bayless, and Rudy? Everyone is happy with minutes and we have shooting, driving, and court vision mixed into all 3 of those 3 guys.

Anyone else worried Joel may be the next one to go down? That guy puts it ALL out on the court and just takes a beating. How many charges did he take last night..3..maybe 4? He is the epitome of a warrior and really hope JP comes back soon, because the big man in the middle needs someone to take the burden off of him.

I checked ESPN Mobile earlier today, and just found out (as of about noon or so) about the whole Anthony Tolliver signing. Anybody know what kind of numbers or skills he brings from the Idaho Stampede? BTW, the Stampede is their development team. I personally think we still should've signed another Center from Free Agency (don't remember if there was one available out there or not), and went without another Guard. Don't get me wrong, I like L.A, but L-Train's not a natural Center. He's a good Band-Aid in an emergency situation, just like Juwon Howard, but he's just not a true defensively-inclined Center, and Howard is (as it's been said numerous times by numerous people) no spring chicken. I think we can do without another guard for the time being...

And speaking about Guards, how about Jerryd Bayless? Mr. Eyebrows, aka the prettiest man in basketball?  (lol  j/p) Those were some pretty numbers against Phoenix! 2 for 3 from outside? Awesome stuff there. (Not counting the other 23 points, most of which came in the second half.) I'm curious to see if he can be groomed into another B-Roy, or into the next Michael Cooper, ala The Lake Show from back in the early 1990s... Hell, I'll even go for the next Joe Dumars.    =)~

As for other players, I'm not sure about Patrick Mills, in so far as what he can consistently bring to this team... But I'm curious to see all the same what he has to offer. Personally, I don't think Pendegraph has much to offer that isn't already being supplied by other key players. I think if the coaching staff continues to work with Cunningham, he should be able to step in as a threat down the road and really show us something....

But that's my take on things.
