Poor Greg Oden. What a blow to come during his phenomenal early season. Even if the pessimists are right and he never plays again, right now none of that even matters. As a human being, he must be seriously hurting emotionally right now, and all of my heart aches for the big guy. I am very happy as a Blazers fan that I got to see Greg from a firsthand perspective, something we wouldn't have seen had we made a different choice in the draft (cue KD fanboys here.) I love the big guy for all his effort, determination and heart, and particularly his big, goofy, wrinkly smiling face (the footage of him running down the court smiling after he and LA ran the fast break is one of my favorite Blazers moments in years.) As a basketball fan, I hope we get to see all that on the court again sometime, but as a human being, man to man, I wish Greg Oden all the best and my heart goes out to him in a big, big way.

Pretty much a great post. As much as we feel bad for our basketball team, we all feel worse for Greg, the person. I really don't know how he is going to find the strength to rehab this one, but I know he will. I'm really at a loss for words right now. It seems like this franchise is snake bitten and poor Greg just can't buy a vowel if you know what I mean.
I was at the game tonight and as soon as I saw him go down, I knew it was season ending serious. It bummed me out so bad I didn't cheer at all tonight. no, not even Brandon Roy heroics can save the day on this night. If the team wants to make the playoffs, it will come on the basis of HEART! With only 9 healthy guys right now, that's all we got.
I'll be back cheering when the next home game rolls around, but tonight is a night to mourn.
My thoughts and prayers are out to Greg. You will come back buddy..the whole city of Portland and Blazer fans worldwide are behind you 110%!

Wishing you a fast recovery Greg.  It sounds like your surgery went well today.  I was surprised to see the surgery happened so quickly.  You are a great young man with a lot of heart.  You will be back big fella.  Understand you are in my thoughts and prayers.  Ruth

I have full confidence that Greg will be able to recover just fine and be as strong as he ever was by the start of next season. Hopefully, he'll never have to deal with this type of injury ever again.

I was reading a website that talks about this injury and the treatment of it. They say that there is a good chance that the joint will heal fully and never experience the same problem if there is no soft-tissue damage. From the news release earlier today, it looks like that is the situation. I'm looking forward to Greg's return to dominate the boards and expand his offensive game next season!
I am a fan of Miller's pin-point passes, Brandon Roy's ability to put the ball in the hoop from all angles, Oden, Rudy's flair and Bayless' tenacity.

Hey everyone, it really upsets me how GO's season ended, after he was just starting to show how dominant he can be. What better way to show our respect and love, than to vote him onto the All Star Team. He wont play, but it will show how much we care. Here is the facebook group I created, please join and help the cause. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=220695410151

VERY good point about continuing to vote for him for ALL STAR.  I have been voting for him EVERY SINGLE DAY and thought it was just another twist of the knife in his heart-breaking injury.  I'll check out your FB group and pass it along.

I to felt bad for Oden. We were running late to our friends house to watch the game and we heard a loud "NO!" come from the house and when we looked in, we saw Oden on the ground. Greg busted his butt to get back from his last injury and i have no reason to believe he won't this time. I got chills seeing Pritchard's face when we had is press conference, and yet felt hope, when he said how Greg kept asking what the score was. That to me means that Greg is gonna pull through, get in shape, maybe drink a bit more milk and get back on the court.

As I went into the JustSports store in Lloyd Center, I noticed all Oden merchandise is half off. If you are like me, and believe he will be back with a vengeance, go and stock up! I know he is hurt, but to see people writing him off already don't know the type of person he is. This injury knocked him down, but not out.
I look forward to seeing him play next fall!

That's awesome, I'm getting an Oden Jersey for sure!!! He'll be back next season and he's gonna be even better than he was this season. KNOW WHY? Cuz as soon as he gets better in a couple months he's gonna go to Columbus, Ohio for the summer with development coach Bayno(???? i think his name is) and he's gonna work on every aspect of his game. That's what he did last summer. And I'd say we got a new and improved Oden this season until the injury.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
