PORTLAND, Ore. (AP)—Portland Trail Blazers coach Nate McMillan ruptured his right Achilles tendon during practice Friday and will need surgery.

McMillan will coach Saturday night’s game against Houston, but he will miss next week’s four-game road trip.

The Blazers say McMillan will have surgery on Monday.

Assistant coach Dean Demopoulos will take McMillan’s place starting Monday in New York.

man that has to hurt. get well soon. now if we go on a four game winning streak i guess it's time to think about the coaching of mcmillan. but hey he must hustle when he is coaching at practice too.

So sorry coach!  My husband ruptured his about 5 years ago, but he was up at Timberline skiing again 6 months to the day.  Best of luck to you.

Hope everything heals good coach. Perhaps in the future, you shouldn't go for the windmill dunk right outta' the gate?

Something getting swept under the rug is the fact how well Monty Williams has performed as "acting coach" while Nate has to take a seat on the bench. I really hope we can retain Coach Monty for at least one more year, but I fear he'll be a hot commodity this offseason.

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Thank God they are 19 games over 500.  Mayb...

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
