I am wondering who you guys think will be on the trade block this year, I am not including any Blazers at this time but that could change quickly if the team struggles, which I hope not.

    Biggest names:

    Rajon Rondo

    Zach Randolph

    Kevin Love

    Luol Deng

    Carlos Boozer

    Omer Asik.

Lamarcus Aldridge's NAME will be on the trading block, but he won't. Reporters will just make stuff up.

    Demarcus Cousins.

    Pau Gasol.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

I would not be interested in any of the listed players. I think the list will be much bigger by the deadline. Underachieving teams will want to tank before the next offseason. Houston will probably put Asik on the block and the Heat may move Bosh. I don't think Sac will move Cousins. I don't think the Suns will move Gortat, he's their only big. Thunder may move Perkins. Toronto always trades somebody but they don't have much to offer.

Omer Asik I would be interested in but I don't think Houston will trade him because he is Dwight Howard insurance. I was interested in Rondo last year but we got Lillard no sense in putting him on the bench. when as it stands I think in 2 years he will be better than Rondo. Offensively I think Love is better than Aldridge but defensively Aldridge is better and I do not think Love has had 1 season where he has been healthy. Everyone else is a lesser version of what we have starting and they would want to start so no.

I think grabbing Cousins is the type of risk we need to take in order to have a chance of being a top 4 team in the West...

Love is no ways better than Aldridge offensively. He scores mainly due to his unmatched rebounding prowess. His three point shot is also decent, but let's see, Aldridge said he was working on his. Aldridge is a better mid range shooter and can actually play with his back to the basket.

And the two players I would be interested in are Omer Asik, and LaMarcus Aldridge.

I think Rondo would stunt Lillard's progress and CJs as well. He also is said to be a locker room cancer. I'd like to see lillard and rondo on an Olympic team together, but not the Blazers.

There are also future salary considerations as well meese.  A Lillard/Rondo backcourt would only be financially feasible during Lillard's rookie deal, with the expiration of said deal forcing the team to move one of the two.

To obtain Rondo we would probably have to deal McCollum, Meyers or Robinson, and maybe even Batum... Since Boston wants to go young.

Aldridge would probably resign if we got Rondo.

Don't know how a back court of Rondo and Lillard would work, Rondo is a great defender but I doubt he can consistently guard SG throughout a season. Also Lillard likes the ball in his hands...

I don't think Olshey goes after Rondo unless he can get him AND keep Batum. His main priority is finding a star Center or Star SG before Aldridge contract expires.

Bdawg that is not true once we have them we can pay them what we like. Just got to be willing to go over the cap or even pay the tax. I am not sure Rondo is the piece to put us in that category but I am still intrigued by him with Lillard

Rondo as a player would be excellent. He is a former champion and would be terrific for our front court because he creates a whole bunch of easy scoring opportunities. But our backcourt would suffer because we would be down to one ball handler. Rondo cannot play away from the ball and I feel that we need 2 guys on the floor who can attack off the dribble because it just creates more problems for opposition defenses.

However, coming to Rivers point. Rondo is a horrible locker room guy and ths was seen in his relationship with Ray Allen and eventually lead to the whole story about Doc Rivers not getting along with Rondo. We don't have a KG and Pierce in our locker room to handle Rondo so I wouldn't take a chance. Even with Aldridge, Matthews and Mo there, Rondo would be a more negative influence than we could deal with. He's a great player no doubt, I just think he may not be worth the risk while we have such promising young talent in our backcourt. CJ and Dame along with Mo and Wes are good enough to get us a shot in the playoffs this year and will be even better come next year.

I would be interested in getting Luol Deng though... His length and his defense are great and he was the Bulls main guy when Noah and Rose were injured. He has a great motor, a good shot, can get to the rim and can play extended minutes guarding the Durants and Kobe's. His salary, admittedly, is quite high so I think that will scare us off but he is really a good player with playoff experience on a defensive minded team that has faced plenty of adversity during the past 2 seasons. Not sure what it would take to get him though. The Bulls will want fair value but he is on his way to FA and that could mean they'll take as much as they can get even if it isn't exactly what they want for him.

Utah wouldn't trade Favours. He's the rock they're gonna build around. But I wouldn't be averse to making a move for him. He's a really good young player and is an excellent defender.

I also would love Favors but this summer was likely the last chance people had to try and deal for him cause without Milsap and Jefferson Utah is all in on Favors and Kanter.

Depends on how he handles being the full time go to guy. I see an 18-10 guy in Favors with great defense. He also could be a better fit situationally than LA because he bangs more in the post. Allowing Leonard to play more on the perimeter.

You would have to do it now if you are doing it because he might not be available after this year if he starts to take over.

I would not do this trade. If LaMarcus has an allstar year this season and wants to explore his options after his contract is up, you can get a lot more for him than Williams or Favors. They are both promising young players but LaMarcus is a superstar in my opinion. If the Blazers do any trading at the deadline I expect it to be the bottom of the bench players that get moved.

Well if that's the case then Freeland and Barton are in trouble. They are the only 2 right now in my opinion who will struggle for minutes on our stacked team. We may not have superstars right down the bench but we are legitimately 2 deep at each position.

I think Favors is the centerpiece to a good package but like I said I see him as an 18-10 guy, which does not give Utah much motivation to trade him.

If we can get Favors in a package for LA I would make that deal quick.

A Greg Monroe deal would be nice if we had to trade LA or Batum

Monroe could find himself surplus to requirements in Detroit. Drummond and Josh Smith are an imposing front court and I doubt Monroe would like a role off the bench. A move for him could be on the cards. And he could come cheap. But we already have a good defensive C in Robin Lopez. Monroe would only be a good move if he came with a good wing.

I also agree that we need to see what this bench can do but I think the intention of this thread was the deadline in February first of all. If any moves were made to improve the team, I hope it's from the bottom of the bench. Since the Stampede are now our affiliate team, I'd like to see Elliot Williams get a shot there. I'd almost trade Allen Crabbe or Earl Watson for Elliot just to see what he's got. Crabbe did not impress me in summer league. At this point, Watson, Crabbe, Freeland and Barton are all bottom of the bench unless Barton shows more control on the court or unless Freeland outplays Robinson leading into the season.

I am for any deal that makes us better but as River put it the point was to look forward to the deadline.

It is my hope that with a bench this team can compete and become buyers at the deadline. Thus putting many of the aforementioned names in play.
