"The Trail Blazers will open with 10 of their first 17 games on the road... Portland will take on 10 of 14 Western Conference opponents twice at home and twice on the road, while playing Dallas, Memphis, the Clippers and Lakers only three times apiece. Of those matchups, the Trail Blazers host Memphis and the Clippers twice, and Dallas and the Lakers once. The club will face each Eastern Conference team twice." - trailblazer.com

A few additional things of note:

This schedule is ballanced as far as home/away games played from the first 41 games played to the second.

    - 1st 41 games, 21 away, 20 home

    - 2nd 41 games, 20 away, 21 home

    Portland plays 19 back-2-back games.

    - 1 home/home

    - 3 away/home

    - 5 home/away

    - 10 away/away *

Blazer have two 5 game road trips, both in March, with only 3 back-2-backs in those 10 games. Coming of that last trip, there are 8 remaining games, of which only 2 are on the road, no back-2-backs, and only 4 of them vs playoff teams from last season (memphis, LAL, GS, LAC).

There are four 4 game road trips throughout the season.

*Given that Portland travels the most of any team in the NBA I think this schedule is pretty favorable. There's gonna be some tough games, but you have to play them at some point. Strength of schedule and how that compairs to other teams is something I want to check out but haven't yet.

Well, that explains why that GS to Orlando is inexplicable... I made a mistake.   oops   Can we get an edit button on these forums yet?

Two mistakes... it's the 2013-14 season. Lol.

But I didn't catch the home/road balance for the two halves of the season before. That's a good note, although I wonder if it's best to be balanced or if having a weighted front or back end can help a team. Those last 8 games of the season could be huge if we're hanging around the #8 spot. I personally hope we've already clinched a berth at that point, but I'm a dreamer...

It was late when I posted. : (

Maybe if I make enough blatently rediculous mistakes, someone will add a GD edit button to these forums.

I recalls in recent years having 6 and 7 game road trips, and over 20 back to backs. I think the schedule is pretty favorable considering, and it's time we see this team take the next step.  Playoffs baby!

Hi Fanatic, soooo I took the liberty to edit that for ya, you can find an asterisk for the 3 spots that I made changes.

I just took out the part about the Oakland/Orlando trip, I assumed you had just mixed up a team and was going to write in the replacement but couldn't find anything involving either team.

Nice breakdown looking at the schedule. I also hadn't thought about the balance of home/away games, and I love the way the season ends but like Pickett said I'm hoping we'll already be comfortable at that point. I need to find that remote from the Adam Sandler movie, I'm ready to fast forward to October.

Thanks hun!  : )    So, ya...  about that edit button...

The back to backs are tough on  every team, and I was lazy and waited for someone else to do the work on compairing that to other teams.  Here's the break down from a guy (Kevin Zimmerman) on SB Nation:

    Charlotte Bobcats: 22

    Cleveland Cavaliers: 20

    Detroit Pistons: 20

    Utah Jazz: 20

    Washington Wizards: 20

    Indiana Pacers: 20

    Milwaukee Bucks: 20

    Boston Celtics: 20

    Minnesota Timberwolves: 20

    Philadelphia 76ers: 20

    Atlanta Hawks: 19

    Los Angeles Lakers: 19

    Portland Trail Blazers: 19

    Sacramento Kings: 19

    San Antonio Spurs: 19

    New Orleans Pelicans: 19

    Phoenix Suns: 18

    Toronto Raptors: 18

    Houston Rockets: 18

    Orlando Magic: 18

    Memphis Grizzlies: 18

    Miami Heat: 17

    Los Angeles Clippers: 17

    Chicago Bulls: 17

    Brooklyn Nets: 16

    Dallas Mavericks: 16

    Golden State Warriors: 15

    Oklahoma City Thunder: 15

    New York Knicks: 14

    Denver Nuggets: 14

The back 2 back situation could be worse, but not much.  I guess it's farily even save for Charlotte and the 9 teams with 17 or less.  Only 14 back to backs seems insainly low to me.

It appears like the Blazers are always getting a crummy deal when they face GS.  Last season the Blazers had to fly out of Portland to play GS then next night, after that sweet win in Portland over the Heat (speaking of back2backs... remember those back2back 3s from Matthews!!!).  Then played in GS later in the year, after having played Utah the night before.  And the 3rd game vs GS was in Portland, again Portland playing a back2back while GS was not.  So Portland shoudl have 2 of the 3 games in Portland this year vs GS right?  WRONG!

Portland plays GS 3 times, with both of Portland's games in GS are being the 2nd of a back2back for the Blazers, and the one home game is only a day of rest removed from a 5 game road trip (Dallas/Houston/Memphis/San Antonio/New Orleans).

Mo Williams @ GS   25 pts (Dame Dagger?)

Nevermind, I completely withdraw my grievance with the GS schedule.

That's a guy not only taking over a game, but HANDLING the defense. I'm stoked to see him in Rip City.

Also, Dame tends to light it up in Oakland and Dorell is a former Warrior. I'm not too worried about the GS games.

Dare I say a quicker Andre Miller with a much deeper and sweeter shot?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQk9dH7efyg

    Last year Mo highlights.

I love that even though he's smaller than Dre, he still has the skill set to take guards in the post.  And yeah, I love how he punked curry in that clip vs GS.  He could start for Portland, and I'm just shaking my head in disbelief he will be our 6th man.  He's a Jamal Craford that with less of a streaky inclination, can handle the ball, and is a very capable and willing passer.  The more I think about this pick up, the more good things I have to say about it.  And it's nice to see he lost the LeBron head band.  The consumate team player.  Such an obvious great fit.

LOL  You saw that too?  That was the best part of the video, watching it and lookig at Curry the entire time.  He got wrecked. lol  Mo just walks around a fringe all-star over and over like some chump college kid at an Adam Morrison basketball mini-camp (too soon?).

Complete player! That back door cut is classic. His teardrop looks like Tony Parkers shot. His forward motion reminds me of Drexler, smooth stride, low center of gravity. Wes can learn alot from Mo..Now I'm even more stoked!
