Even if one day Lamarcus Aldridge isn't a Blazer (I certainly hope not), I will still treat him like one. He is my favourite player ever, in my opinion, the best PF right now (Excluding Timmy), and a great person. He gives everything he has to the team. I don't remember once any drama or nonsense about being unhappy. What happened in this offseason was not true. There is no one who could even come close to replacing Lamarcus on this team. Damian Lillard may be our newest star, and I do love Dame as well, but Lamarcus always was, and always will be, the greatest Blazer ever. Yes, greater than Bill Walton, and Scottie Pippen, and I know many guys will hate on me for this, but better than Clyde Drexler.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

idk I'll support the guy if he leaves but he's in his prime and honestly I fear he's in that win now mode instead of wanting to go through endless rebuilding periods we've been in rebuild mode since he entered the league pretty much

To be fair, the setbacks in the rebuild up till now have been outside anyone's control and have NOTHING to do with the current roster, coaching staff, and front office.

But yes, I wouldn't blame Aldridge for wanting to win now. I think that's what every Blazer player and fan wants as well. But I guarantee if we make the playoffs (even a first round exit) there will be more chance of a contract extension than a trade.

@ commontongue, yeah I saw that earlier 2day :(  I wonder how long he'd been doing it; if it was from the beginning of SL (which would make the most sense), no wonder why he looked decent.  Harris looked like a man from the start of SL that was focused & trying to prove that he deserved to b a Blazer; I'm pretty sure he thought that he "didn't want to take any chances" when it came to any doubts about IF he could have done more, looks like he did too much :(  Also, w/ that said, his previous teams let him go probably because w/o doping, he probably just couldn't do enough to compete @ this level; IF he had became a Blazer, he would've either needed to cont. to dope to even c the floor sometimes OR he would've stopped doping & played badly & then every would wonder why the PERFORMANCE drop off?

So this all this is sort of a blessing in disguise for us; NOW we KNOW & I NOW would b shocked IF he made the team.  We CAN NOW leave the 15th spot open (which we ALL know by now Neil likes to do ;) OR we can get 1 last guy, my vote is for either Cole Aldrich or E. Will!  I WISH we had 2 spots open to b able to bring in both Cole AND E. Will but there's only 1 :(  On the practical side, we bring in Cole because Meyers is farther from ready than I had expected.  On the awesome side, I would LOVE to bring back E. Will!  E. Will's got a lot to prove to himself/NBA & no1 knows yet what his ceiling is yet & bringing him bak can b on a cheap contract that's worth the "gamble (I DON'T c this as 1 ;)".  Whateva Neil decides to do, it's going to b 1 of the following:  1. bring in Cole 2. bring back E. Will 3. keep the 15th open

It's not a PED violation, Simpson. It's most likely marijuana or some kind of recreational drug like that. They would hand out WAY more than a 5-game suspension for PEDs.

@ D_pickett, ah, I hope u r right; the initial report (probably too hasty) on NBA.com was that it was doping; I was wondering why they changed the story on NBA.com & were much more vague ;)  Thx man, IF this is true (which it SEEMS is most likely the case now ;)... I take back all that I said in the comment ^ & I'm STILL for bringing Harris on board :)

I read it was his 3rd pot bust and he's been to rehab for the 2nd one before. We have another Beasley situation here. I thought he'd be shopped to the Stampede anyway. I"m really impressed with how the front office keeps these things close to the chest. Olshey seems to run a tight ship when it comes to player, team relationships.

This is an idea  no one has really touched on- what about the idea of  LA for p gasaul? Before I am shot down there are multiple things we can do here

1-lakers draft pick.   2 Jordan hill. 3.5 mil  - 3 Steve Blake 4 mil.  4- Nash     We add players  to Mach salaries- the trade would do multiple things- LA is notorious for quick rebuilding and La is the type of piece they like 14 mil a yr Allstar is a good asset to a quick fix team- and with this coming FA class there are many options - lebron- wade- bosh-Kobe-melo-pierce- granger-Irving-Faried zbo dirk- the best FA class. Lakers will have there share, of choice lebrn#1 melo#2- anyone else is any order - which comes to the long conclusion of this- with new salary cap rules.

If Miami wants to keep the big 3 together then they will have to pay 100 mil in penalties and salary-  someone will be moved- because p gasaul has expiring contracts- Portland will have the right combo this coming season (around 20mil for any given player)  and a team to surround  that player with (lillard/mo Matthews/cj. Batum/Clavar trob/freeland. Lopez/leanard) to snatch up a player. For example-> if Miami tells wade they can't pay him (opting Lebron bosh and allen in) and lakers decide on person Irving (most likely failing) or melo (hmm) wade had choices of Dallas

choices of Dallas (not most appeasing) charrlot (yuck) clevland(most appealing because assuming LA resign Kobe they don't need another sg) mil (entertaining next to b knight) det (next to Monroe and Jennings) ny (with no melo) lakers (with no Kobe an additional free agent but sounds unlikely) Orlando (ew) 76ers (yuck)phx (yuck) sac (maybe what moved they make) tor (with no gay)Utah (potential and has money to work with) wiz (with John wall) so looking at this from wade standpoint- the most appealing situations would be #1 clevland #2 Washington #3 Portland #4 Utah  being the best choices- now imagine 5 people ( wade/bosh or Lebron- melo-gay (if opt out)- granger- Paul George(indi with money constraints)) one will chose Portland because we can afford the amount of money the player wants and still contend that ur and yrs going foward

It's got to be a felony crime to send a Portland 2 time allstar in his prime to the Lakers. Really, really bad idea. Steve Blake? c'mon! All Blake ever did was pass the ball  to BRoy and get out of the way.

I for one think we should quit bringing up trades for LMA and assume he stays with Portland until the next trade deadline.  If our team shows progress he may not want to move at all.  I know all these trades are speculative but I feel a lot of the trades are trades just to trade.

Olshey said LaMarcus is thrilled to have Mo Williams on the team now. Winning stops a lot of these speculations and I think that's all it takes.

First of all, I didn't start this thread as a place to bring up more LA trade scenarios...

I definitely think the Mo Williams signing was a partial proof that were in it to win NOW. That along with a sustainable future is exactly what Aldridge should be looking for in a team. Like I said before, I'm sure the guy wants to win like every competitor. But if he can win with the Blazers, why not stick around for another 5-6 years?

From what Mo said/the way he carried himself in his press conference, u CAN tell he's a guy that is serious about winning for the rest of his playing career (~5-6 years).  Mo wants to b in "it (aka Portland)" AND  win it, not just groom guys for the future so that they can go on to win a championship w/o him.  Mo wouldn't have come here if he didn't think that we were/r so close to being champions; he knows it & soon the rest of the league will c/know it!  The dark horse Blazers r gonna scare teams this yr. (I don't think we'll win the championship this yr.; all OUR guys NEED to @ least feel what it's like to b in the playoffs b4 we can advance ;) & then next yr... we're gonna REALLY get the Blazer beat down on!

paul allen is loaded he doesnt care about the cap if it guarantees wins, aldridge will get his max contract. aldridge isnt stupid, he saw how quickly roy fell from portlands good graces, this fan base is rabid, you diss us you're done. LA and lillard are blazers for life.

i think everyone is treating neil's moves like hits of crack, you are just itching for the next fix that you wont show our man aldridge some loyalty. he's been a blazer his whole career, give him some love so he'll be inclined to stay that way.

I really hate the dis-function trade talks cause and the affect some of them have on some players but from what I saw last year I don't see much improvement really because we still have a coach that just plays his 5 best players until there is no hope then hey lets throw in the guys that have been polishing the bench with their butts all year and see if they can do anything if they do get some playing time. Oh and hey lets make our expectations higher then they should be for these guys. A team is not a team with everyone still looking at "we have to have one super star" top put the back of the team on". Really frustrating for me because if you look back at the NBA this used to be team ball. We cant even seem to find guys with the team spirit anymore, they all seem to be all about the $ anymore. Sure we have depth now but I will believe we have a chance when I see we have some kind of defense this year and that we can have guys coming off the bench that can produce like rice last year. What I see is we had 5 guys last year that could beat the pants off teams when they were all healthy and "wanted" to play that night and a coach that only wanted to play those 5 guys until someone got hurt then oh well we can always try this guy in his place. With the $ these guys are making "which I can only make in my dreams" you would think they would come with 200% every time they got on the floor every time!!. We have tons of offence I agree but we also need defense to go along with it and we need a coach that has enough confidence to play 10 or 11 guys every night not just at the end of a season when there is no hope anymore to be a contender. Rumors are just that rumors and noone knows just exactly what the players have in mind for their futures so I put little more then a meh on them until I see something being done. Over the past 2 years I have seen some increadible plays by LA and Batum but when I see one or both standing at the 34 point line instead of hitting the boards on both ends that makes me sad. You can only score if you want the rock in your hand and fight for it on both ends. Loosing JJ who in my opinion brought it pretty much every night but a few could hurt us more then people know if we didnt get a few guys that are willing to go after the rock like he did. I can see one maybe two guys running out but we need at least 3 blazer jerseys on those boards every time not just 5 opponents waiting for the easy uncontested rebound. Games take above all HEART and team play. These guys seem to get the idea that if we have one superstar "brandon Roy" ect. thats all we need or we can do it all from the 3 point line (as long as they are hitting) btw I hate that 3 point line with a passion!! it completely changed the game but we hanvent had consistant play from that position from any of our 3 point shooters other then Mathews who I think is a very important player for portland and isnt really talked about much. Look at Larry Bird, the guy wanted to be so good that he would take at least 200 shots from every position when he practiced because HE wanted himself to become the great player he was. Now a days you have guys just saying meh im good enough. Good enough doesnt cut it and never has, it takes heart and practice and watching for that open man to dish off to without turning it over. When Lillard gets used to finding the open guy when he draws 3 defenders to himself he is going to be way better then Jourdan ever was in my opinion. He already makes Jourdan moves and looks more graceful doing it then Jourdan himself ever did and he does it with only 2 steps and not the 3 steps they always let Jourdan get away with. One of my biggest pet peaves is the NBA referee's now a days. They seem to get in a rut with liking a team and calling one sided games of which I have seen the Portland starters over come when they dont let the calls bother them. Portland needs to get faster with their ball movement and stop standing around hoping someone will move so they are open to get a pass and someone needs to teach them some defense before this year starts up. Dont get me wrong I think we have a very tallented set of guys for the coming year but what happened to the quality players like Jourdan, Bird, Jabar, Magic Johnson and the increadible passing and MOVEMENT. So many times you just see them run down the court and standing around instead of moving to get open or watching the ball but not going after it. Its almost like they say oh that shot missed lets run to the defensive end now and noone goes after the ball. IMO Leonard could have been great last year but he doesnt seem to go after the rebound even though he is a taller guy and an actual center "learn to jump Meyers" wow he just does this little hop thinking its automatically his rebound. Hopefully he learns from our actual center this year. 45 years of being a dedicated Blazer fan but its getting hard to even watch the NBA anymore, it makes me sad and frustrated that its all concidered a "buisness" more then a TEAM anymore. Its always been a business but the players evidently didnt look at it the same way they do now.

GO BLAZERS!!! prove me wrong please

I am a fan of the NBA fining referee's for obvious stupid calls and HARD AGRESSIVE DEFENCE FROM START TO FINISH NOT WAITING TO DIG A 10-30 POINT HOLE

Longtime, I get your frustration but Leonard as a rookie without 4 years in college was not going to be better last year. We all know what the problems have been in the past but this organization has shown me it's commited to the process. I think Stotts did an incredible job given his injuries and lack of bench not to mention the rookies stacked up on the team. I don't think our defensive coordinator did a good enough job, they let him go. Tibbets is the guy now. I don't think our training staff made the right decisions with injured players. They let him go. The new guys is supposed to be a wizard of modern technique. This team has a lot of resiliance and as far as next season. It's not going to be anything like last season. We've filled a lot of holes from last year and Stotts has way more to work with. I'm optimistic. Sure if you sell enough product like Jordan or James, you stay on the court. That was true going way back. Jordan could scream at a ref and never get ejected. Sheed couldn't. That's life. I'm excited about the up coming season and if Stotts isn't winning with this roster, I'll take another look at his system. I don't think money is all these guys care about. Mo Williams turned down more money and a starting position to join a team he felt he could help get to the next level. LaMarcus has help in the paint. I haven't been this excited about a season since we drafted Oden at #1. As far as business over team. The Celtics, Pistons and Mavs won recent championships with team work. I hope the Blazers follow suit. Go Blazers!!

Aaaah! Longtime, they're called paragraphs... I'll be honest, I can't read your post because I'm unable to breathe when doing so. But I noticed you said Stotts only plays his 5 favorite guys. You do realize we had a historically bad bench last year, right? Now, we have Williams and Wright who could both be starting for another team. We have CJ, T-Rob, and Meyers who are all people that will be starter quality with a little development.

I had that same complaint about Nate McMillan. He ACTUALLY never played his young guys and as a result they couldn't develop. Stotts will be playing at least 10-deep this season, trust me.

LA has brought much of the talk upon himself.  With his contract approaching expiration, and coming off a summer in which he sold his home in Portland, broke his lease on his condo in Portland, and bought a house in Dallas...I would have appreciated the man getting out in front of the speculation and in front of the camera and a mic to extinguish any and all fear this team's stockholders...you and I...may have.  Olshey's uncharacteristic off balance and extremely defensive reaction(s) to media questions Monday involving Portland's all-star power forward and his long term whereabouts don't help the cause.

This certainly does seem like the make or break season for LA. We either need to keep him happy and compete all year or we will have to trade him. I can totally see him getting dealt this summer if things do not work out especially with as much talent as there is supposed to be in this years draft.

"Oh dear God, would you guys get over it? How many -- asked and answered. Thank you [Chris Haynes], by the way. What else, guys? Show me a media report where LaMarcus Aldridge has said anything other than, 'I hope the team improves, I'm excited about what we did, I want to get better and I want to win.' Then we can have a conversation. Until then, let's move on. OK? Is that possible?

"It's not breaking news, dude. We covered it in July. Guys, let's talk about something, someone has got to have a better question than that."

Neil Olshey taking the first question regarding "LA trade rumors."

And to that I say, "Bravo!  Well played!" and "Good day Sirs."

    "I SAID GOOD DAY!"

Thank you BF for posting the transcript.

For me however, Olshey's reaction reads much differently than it sounded and appeared.  If anyone can find a link and post, I would appreciate it.  Actions have always outspoken words with me.  Selling his Portland home, breaking his condo lease, and buying a home in a competitor's market...and one that has expressed interest in securing his services?  All this amidst rumors Aldridge's time as a Blazer may be coming to an end...right or wrong...speaks volumes and merits attention.  I haven't yet seen LA take a mic in front of a camera and say specifically, that he wants to retire in Portland, as a Blazer.  Wouldn't that end all discussion and debate?
