I have been hearing all kinds of hype about Portlands future with Lamarcus Aldridge. The majority of what I am hearing involves trading Aldridge while he is valuable to POR. It sounds like a Howard-like scenario scare will be forcing POR's hand...

I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to FA and trade markets... will POR really put LA on the table?

I don't think we see L.A. get traded this offseason/draft night/season. With the young core, I think we at least keep him another year or two before things get serious. But hey, I'm not in the front office, so I could be wrong. Just my 2 cents. I think we NEED LA for a couple more years. A guy like that will still be valuable to any team for years to come.

I agree, Portland needs Aldridge for a few more years at least. I am hoping for some aggressive moves from the front office as far as Trades/FA goes, but to get as aggressive as moving Lamarcus Aldridge would be devastating in my opinion. So much of Portland's offense has been revolving around the option LA provides with his offensive arsenal that losing that option would literally change everything.

I had heard that the Mavericks may be making some aggressive moves of their own to get Aldridge in Dallas. The incentive of playing at home I imagine would be enough motivation to request a Trade personally. Which I couldn't blame him. With Dirk wearing down, Aldridge's offensive would be a perfect fit in Dallas. LA is the last Blazer I want to see leave. This off-season could get interesting.

Aldridge said the team will be a legit playoff contender in two years (First rounder in one), and that he is 'here now'. Basically if we don't rebuild, he's out. Can't blame him. Guy gave his heart and his best years to us. He's got to take care of himself as well. Don't ever want him to leave.

Lot of talk about trading him to Cleveland, and now even more talk started.

Ah, yes... Cleveland. Anderson Varejao, Alonzo Gee, Luke Walton, and a 1st overall Pick. I would love to see a center like Varejao come to Portland. And with Cleveland's style, playing Aldridge at Center would work mightily. What kind of trade would be worth the Heart and Soul of Portland though...

IF we're going after guys that look like Sideshow Bob, let's go w/ Robin Lopez (he's the Lopez that hasn't been injured).  Lopez would work well w/ LMA AND he wouldn't stunt Meyers; when Meyers is ready for heavy minutes & to step forward as our starter, Lopez will b a good backup off the bench that defends AND scores decently :)

Varejao is pretty goofy looking... I dig Robin Lopez. I just want to see a Center with the work ethic, defense, and inspiration that a player like Camby brought to the table. It was never about offense with Marcus Camby but when he was on the court for Portland work was done. I see a lot of that in Meyers Leonard, but he just isn't developing right with the limited minutes and no Veteran instruction.

But Leonards development aside, Keeping LA is whats best for Portland... And I don't see dangling any of our roster helping in acquiring a work horse center.

Robin Lopez is horrible. Varejao is solid everywhere and his rebounding is amazing, but he is one of the worst defenders in the league. Right up there with David Lee. And Portland just rejected Cleveland's offer of #1 and #19 picks for LMA.

I don't think I would mind trading Batum for some veteran depth. I like Batum, but right now POR needs to find a way to do right with Aldridge. He has earned his way and deserves a legitimate run. To get there POR needs depth and Veteran assistance.

U take cavs # 1 and waiters and hopefully Thompson I'd love it 3 top 5 picks in the past 3 years way better for our future and a great young core then trade Batum Wes and jj to kings for cousins and some spendy contracts idk if at all if that's possible but that would be a dream situation and draft mclemore or olidipo not gonna happen most likely but I love the la trade

Not sure any of that is worth LA. I have commonly heard that POR has put too much stock into an overrated player that is LA. I honestly think that POR has put in enough. That being said... I would take a combo for Aldridge if it had to come to that. Like Griffin, and Jordan.

To be clear, that scenario where being forced to Trade LA, can only be justified by acquiring at least two heavy caliber players (Even though that would not be enough). But saying Griffin is just as good as LA is ridiculous. The only thing Griffin brings to the table is rebounds and dunks. He has no where near the offensive arsenal that LaMarcus Aldridge contains. Believing otherwise is simply following ESPN produced media hype that doesn't actually truly compare the two players, just Marketability.

We should be getting SO much more for Lamarcus! We should get Thompson, Waiters, and some picks! We  should get the #1 pick for 2013, and Memphis's 2015 first rounder in addition to TT, and DW

I can't believe Cleveland offered the #1 and #19 for LA. That package is terrible for a 2 time all star in his prime. This makes me think we won't get a great package.

I don't think trading a big part of our roster will be any help to us. We tore the roster up in 2011/12 and that got us to where we are now. Why undo all that by trading our franchise player and our utility guy in Batum? If anything we should try to sign a Center who is more accomplished than Robin Lopez and draft a scoring wing. CJ McCollum and Micheal Carter Williams are my picks.

We cannot trade LA and expect to win. A young roster needs someone like LA to help that in the clutch and carry the load on both ends. We can not pick up more young players and lose the leadership that LA brings to our locker room. But he needs a running buddy in the front court to help him. Someone who he can lean on from time to time. Jermaine Oneal, Spencer Hawes, Jason Thompson... A guy who isnt a star but will do his share and more when needed.

I doubt Lamarcus gives much leadership in the locker room. He leads by example in game which he dosent always do a good job in. But he still gives you 20 and 8 consistently.

I hate the idea of adding Robin Lopez, Oneal, Hawes or any other miedorcre center being our only offseason move. We either need to grab another elite player via trade or FA

    OR

Find another young great player. Via Draft

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised at this point if one or two of our core players are moved. Hopefully not LA this soon, but I could see Batum and the 10th pick moved for a deal like Michael Kidd Gilchrist and Charlottes 4th pick since MKG is on the block right now.. At 4 you have Oladipo, McLemore, Porter, or Noel falling in your lap

Anybody else here hear about the blazers offering lamarcus to the bulls? They wanted deng and Noah. Bulls only want to offer deng and the bobcats 2016 unprotected pick for him. Do you think if we throw in mathews we could get Noah deng and the draft pick?

@ commontongue, VERY much agreed on all that ^ ;)  THAT is 1 of the FEW deals that I would even consider & I would only consider this Cle. deal ^ because it would solve/future proof (for quite a while) our squad in 1 shot PLUS allows us to use ALL our $ to make a final move.  How many times through the life of a franchise r u even given the opportunity to make such powerful changes w/ just 1 move?

@Dj48, what about Meyers then IF u brought in Noah?  I like Noah but I don't want him here because I believe in Meyers; I take it you've given up on him already?  Also, Deng is crap, he's overrated; I don't want him here period.  I do like Jimmy Butler BUT unfortunately so does Chi. ;)  I promise u & every1 else out there, we WON'T deal BOTH Batum AND Wes; I'd actually b surprised if 1 isn't dealt (I'd love 2 keep them both but I don't c this happening); of the 2, I think Wes is most likely to leave us :(

Yeah, DJ48 that is probably one of the only deals I'd do for LA. So, Simpson you wouldn't take one of the best centers in league who is a complete warrior because you believe in a rookie(I guess not anymore) center who won't be ready for another few years anyway? And Luol Deng is one of the best wing defenders in the entire league, he also plays crazy amounts of minutes every night. If this were to happen we could be a darkhorse in the playoffs.

@ sug81, no I would not take 1 of the best centers in in the league (aka Noah ;) BECAUSE I believe in Meyers AND because that means we give up LMA AND Wes (I'd rather have him v. Deng).  Also, I believe in loyalty; the ONLY time I want to trade a Portland player is when we have to; I don't believe we have to trade away LMA AND Wes to a championship; however, sadly, I feel like a trade will b made w/ either Wes or Nico to get us to the elite level though :(  Thing is, I want to get the trophy w/ as many of OUR guys as possible.  I will admit, IF we follow through w/ what u propose ^ AND sign Toney Allen + a good PF i.e. Paul Millsap... THAT'S championship time! ;)

Haha trust me I'm all about loyalty myself, seeing the LA wants out rumors got me super upset. I hope they're not true. But getting Noah doesn't giving up on Leonard, because when he would hit his prim Joakim could serve as a veteran backup in his older age.

I like what LA said a few years ago when he said his "easiest" season when Andre Miller was running the point because his veteran savvy and skill made the game easier for him. Clearly he needs a veteran around him to help him and to take some of the leadership load off him.

So I'm guessing we need to get a similar player now to help him again. A guy who can help him. Trading for more young players who aren't named James Harden or Kyrie Irving (Franchise changers) is totally out of the question in my mind. We need an established presence next to our core. A low maintenance guy to contribute on both ends. I've said before, Tyson Chandler is my guy.

With McCollum now drafted, we can go after a genuine big in FA. I think a trade involving Freeland could be on the cards. I think we will sign Jermaine O'neal because he has some unfinished business in Portland. That means we need to go big on another Center. We could try pull off a trade for Marcin Gortat. He gives a good solid presence on the block and is a nightly double-double threat. Not sure what the dynamics of the trade would be though.

They better not trade LA. Hearing all sorts of noise about trading to the bulls for Noah.  LA can do it all hit the 17 footer to expand the defense, drive, post up, plays excellent D. Noah can't do any of that.  This kind of talk makes me question the blazers management team do they really want the blazers to win a title?  They have made so many questionable decisions in the past.  With OUR team we could move LA to the center, bring that young PF we got from the rockets and just try to run every team out of the gym.

Thats just it, L.A. doesnt want to play center. If he did, we'd be cool. He isnt built to take the pounding night in and night out against bigger stronger players. The man knows his limitations. What needs to happen is for Paul Allen to go over the cap and pay for what he wants and what we desperately need. A BIG man. Hell,id be willing to take a chance on Bynum, providing we throw a few realistic provisions in his contract.
