Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.

Ok this is my first post so bear with me.

To start im gonna state the obvious that we have all already said in terms of both position need and role needs. Firstly a starting centre to defend the paint, block, rebound and hopefully add a low block presence of offense and teach leonard a thing or two. Secondly backups that can score, defend and the ability to  get to the rim at BOTH wings(because we all know batum and wesley dont) . And finally a backup PG and PF to fill out the roster.

I'm gonna try and do this without losing any young players before we have given them a chance to develop (Leonard, Barton and claver...kinda) and keep our first rounders because we have all seen the OKC plan and wish in angst that our drafted big 3 weren't ravaged by injury.

    So....without any further ado.

    PG: Lillard, Maynor, Worters/Jackson/Brown

    SG: Matthews, McCullum/KCP, Barton

    SF: Batum, Rice/Leslie , Claver

    PF: Aldridge, O'Neal , Freeland

    C: Mozgov, Leonard, O'Neal

Ok Firstly i know we all hate freeland but his guaranteed for two more years so unless we can move him we are stuck with him. Secondly im not gonna even speculate on trades coz im not Olshley and have no clue what going on in that head. But i do NOT like the talk of LA and ten for 1, Noel is injured and has had two knee injuries and Mclemore doesnt interest me. And i know ive only added 14 man roster but that leaves space available for injury or FA pickup throughout the start of summer league or even regular season.

Also some players like Batum (sf-sg) Aldridge and O'Neal (PF-C) can play more than one position so adds some flexibilty.

Let me announce how i'd grab everyone (pretty straightforward really).

Worters/jackson/Brown are all second rounder picks atm (we currently hold 39,40,45 atm). and all three are going in the price range of 35-45 in most mocks but who knows maybe we could grab an Isiah Cannan or something.

McCullum or KC-Pope get my first round pick. I prefer KCP for the fact his 6'6 can shoot and DEFENDS. His handle isnt great yet and he isnt good at getting to the rim YET, but thats why they are rookies right? Mcullom is a valuable combo guard who could handle along with Lillard in that front court but is a volume shooter which could add problems if playing with batum, aldridge and lillard who all need the ball in their hands to score.

The second of our second round picks goes to a SF something around the Glen Rice (which people see dropping), or C.J Leslie. This pick and 45 could be conveyed for an established wing or cash.

    Ok now for Free agency;

The nba list active free agents as follows (note im only naming ones that i think should be interested in)

UFA: Bynum (not gonna happen but i had to add him), Blair, O'neal, Dalembert

    RFA: Mozgov, Splitter, Pekovic

O'neal gets my nod because he will come cheap, can play the four and will bring a veteren presence and can score off the bench. Sign him to one year with a team option or two years, this enable Myers time to develop. 2 years at 4-6 mill

Mozgiv is the other because it won't take much to grab him off the nuggets who are in disaray and already have mcgee and koufus and the Centre postion. 3 years at 12-15mil

There we go keep some cash and with a couple of inexperienced vets and rookies we could develop some good chemistry and hang out for free agency and the much better draft of 2014.

naw freeland just never got enough run on the court I think he'll be better this year he just didn't get a chance to really show his worth

I think trading Freeland and freeing up that 3 million in Cap Space shuold be a priority for the Blazers

I don't get why ppl think we can jut trade players that didnt even really showcase what they could do very much it's rediculous to think teams would take him unless he was packaged in a deal that involved a star player

Exactly. If he's so bad, why would anyone else want him? Only realistic way in which we end up doing good, is trading #10 and Freeland for some centre.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

I think the biggest reason he ddnt look good was he didn't get very may minutes at all how are you gonna develop a player/get him used to the nba/assess him if he doesn't get any real run time?

We would have to send 3 million in cash and some second rounders if we want someone to take him. I bet some people want Kostas Papanikolau even though he never stepped on a NBA court... So someone might see talent in Freeland still. They would have to have not seen any Blazer games this year because he was soo bad..

I was so excited for him and I loved his game but he couldn't throw a ball into the ocean this season. You can't be 25 and have years for the olympics and in England and not be able to Shoot, rebound, defend, or be any use to the team

He couldnt beat out Victor Claver and Luke Babbit for backup PF minutes.

he really wasnt that bad he got close to no minutes and played less games than babbit and babbit played worse stats say if he got as many minutes as leonard he would of outplayed him

I doubt Freeland would have outplayed him. He shot 40% from the field the season. His defense was just as worse as Meyers. He was Meyers without the nice offensive game. Freeland could have grabbed a couple more rebounds but thats pretty much it.

One big move with some small ones- LA and a second rd pick for Asik Lin and a first rd pick next yr. followed by signing al Jeff and tony allen. The depth chart looks like this -lillard/Lin Mathews/cj batum/allen Al Jeff/freeland  Asik/leanard.     We could make a decent run with that team

    you mean this jkmurray21,

    lillard/mccollum

    wesley/barton/lin

    batum/allen/crabbe

    al jeff/t-rob/freeland

    asik/leonard/withey

we can sent lin to the development league every once in while to be dunk on by a smaller guy

I am a fan of Damian Lilard leading us to a title and MVP to him, LA and MEYERS

Murray, no one here wants Al Jefferson. LMA is better than him, even if Big Al is a slightly better rebounder. Big Al doesn't play D. Also he would be hella expensive.

But I'd rather have  al Jeff and Asik than LA (best case scenario) kaman- I forget if milsap p is a free agent or not but Asik and millsap would be a good combo as well  - I like Asik

One thing I'd also explore a little  if I was the gm is the nets- it's a rolled up jumbled mess not but I completely thing pierce and joe Johnson will never exist- the most attractive piece there to me is Lopez but a strait across trade isn't enough to me- so a trade of guards as well might make sense- joe Johnson (ugly contract but he will bring some needed offense) and Lopez (addresses need for a big)  for LA and  Wesley may clear things up a little bit for both sides
