Chloe is right. We have no one worth mentioning right now. I think Leonard will get better this offseason. If he adds some good weight and develops a jump hook to use in the post he will definitely have an improved season. I still think we need a veteran to come in and tutor him. Maybe bully him a little at practice so that he gets tougher both physically and mentally.

The question is how important money is too Dalembert right now. The Knicks, Nets, Lakers, and Heat all need a back up center and Dalembert would have a much better chance to win a ring with one of those teams. If he wants cash then coming to Portland or staying in Milwaukee is important.

McGee would probably be my top 1 to get but I don't really like his 10 mil a year asik would be the next guy I'd like great rebounder and good defense maby try and get him and Thomas Robinson for jj 1st rounder and something else that would be great...

    Lillard/maynor

    Wesley/ fa/Barton

    Batum/claver

    La/robinson

    Asik/Leonard

And for the fa 2 gaurd I'd like to get a scoring 6th man preferably someone with driving ability jr smith would be great with us he'd be our starter with Wes comin off the bench or the other way with jr comin of the bench we would be a playoff team and hopfully  make it past the first round since I can remember

Meese is right, I have to agree. Dalembert could go to a contender immediately for less than we would offer him. So that leaves us with Jermaine O'Neal, Mozgov, Koufos and JJ Hickson as our next options. McGee is too expensive and Al Jefferson isn't the type of player we want because he can't really defend in the low post.

So what now? In my opinion, trading for Kendrick Perkins might just be the shrewd move we need to get the player we are looking for. In addition to that, we could pull off a move for Ronnie Brewer to add defensive depth on the wing. Perkins is a great low post defender and will bring championship experience to our locker room. He is a vocal guy but I think we need someone tough like him. A guy to hold our young guys accountable and be there to protect them on the floor. He doesn't need sets run for him and will live off second chance buckets and one or two layups in the paint. It's just an idea. The Thunder don't seem too pleased with him right now and maybe their recent failure to win the West will cause them to go after a younger more athletic guy in the middle with Ibaka and Collison filling in.

Not sure what you guys think...

Perkins is GARBAGE! He makes dumb plays on offense. He is a bad rebounder. And his contract is TERRIBLE!! I like his toughness and his low post D but thats it. No way I want him on the Blazers. I would mind bringing in Al Jefferson. It that now Centers are becoming a real necessity right now. If you want to beat Miami then you need to hurt them inside. Jump shooting teams never win unless you got LeBron. Jefferson will grab 9-11 rebounds every game. Grabbing KCP, Ronnie Brewer and Jefferson would be a solid offseason. I think Deandre Jordon/Javal Mcgee will be targeted by Olshley.

DeAndre Jordan would be my first choice to go after. He and L.A. as our frontcourt would be formidable against anyone. DJ knows his role. Block shots, run the floor, grab boards and set P/R screens and roll off of them. Definitely athletic enough to give Meyers the business in practice. The fact that he and Olshey are cool is just icing. Having the Rookie of the Year gives us a little leverage in the way of convincing a few cats to come here. CP3 is nice, but he's not going to be at the top of his game for much longer.

Larry Sanders is a name I have put out there multiple times. Portland needs to do whatever it takes to get him. I also suggested Jimmy Butler, Tobias Harris and Tyreke Evans.

Batum for sanders would be good ...I kinda want to keep Batum cause u seen him before his injurys beginning of the year he was great mabey do Hickson sign trade and Wes then pick up kcp from the draft then  sign a 2 gaurd and power forward and 1 more bench piece and we would be solid

    Lilliard / maynor

    Fa / kcp

    Batum/ claver

    Lamarcus / fa

    Larry sanders/ Leonard fa

Wouldnt be bad to get a lotto pick next year .... Maby tank :).

If defense is so overrated then explain to me where the phrase "Defense wins championships" came from? You must play defense to win games!!!!! We've been crying out for a defensive Center to protect the rim and bang down in the post. Perkins may not be any value offensively, but when games are close we need stops and offensively we can put the ball in Lillards hands or run plays for Batum and LA.

Perkins brings toughness!! We need a man down low who will fight for position and make it tough for the Howard's and Cousins out there. We need someone who will bring a winning mentality to this locker room. He wasn't afraid to call out his coach after game 3 of last years finals because he thought Brooks made a mistake taking his starters out before they had sealed the win. He's a determined guy who has won a championship and played under a good defensive coach and with some of the best players in the league. He can get you by with 6rebounds a night and 1 or 2 blocks. LA, Lillard, Batum and whoever we get to start at SG will take care of the scoring.

Cailin, I'm sorry, but that is just crazy. Perkins is completely horrible. he actually had a negative PER in the playoffs. NEGATIVE, PER. He can't actually play Defence, not fit and is horrible of offence, and can't really rebound well. I don't know why people think he is so good. Look at the stats.

Deandre just blocks shots and dunks and is a decent rebounder for his size. I do not like the guy or his style of play, but frankly that may be what we need right now. If we can't get a good defender, we need a good shot blocker, and DJ or Javale is the way to go. Still, Asik, Splitter, Dalembert, and Gortat are my preferred options, in that order.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

And Batum if he keeps getting injurys start to build around lillard and wiggins :) ? Prob won't happen tho but I can dream cant I..

Cailin I never said defense is overrated but Perkins is just a terrible fit. First his contract is massive, which will prevent the Blazers for filling additional holes via free agency. His offense is virtually non existent and inefficient when he does provide some shooting under 46% from the floor this last season. His rebounding has always been average at best.

If you look at his production per 48 compared to his opponents he gets crushed. He is an okay fit on the Thunder because Durant and Westbrook typically dominate their match ups and Ibaka will typically win or draw even on his. Add in solid bench production and they can afford to lose the center match up. Portland does not have that luxury. If you are going to get a Blazer who is defense only they have to be a dominant force on that side of the ball. Someone like Ben Wallace.

Jordan is a better fit with the team, as he is a better rebounder than Perkins, his help defense is better than Perkins even if his low post defense is not. He is a far more athletic than Perkins. However, his offense while efficient consists of dunks and put backs only. This is compounded by an abysmal FT% that keeps him off the floor during close games. If he was a free agent I would not love this pick up nor hate it; however, he is not a free agent meaning we have to trade for him and to get him would likely cost the team Matthews, #10 pick and a sign and trade for Hickson at minimum.

Now you got to replace your starting SG and you have lost your best asset to find a cheap starter in the #10 pick. In addition, Portland loses some 3 million in cap space. Leaving them with around 10 million assuming the cap rises to 60 million as predicted. In that 10 million Portland must find a starting SG, a back up PG, a back SF and a back up PF.  Add in a back up SG if you are not comfortable with Will Barton getting significant minutes. That is why going after Deandre Jordan is a terrible idea.

The Cap will be 58.5 million Cmeese

I think if we end up with 8.5 million after getting Jordon we wouldnt be in such a bad position. We try to sign Oj Mayo or JJ Redick for 6 million.

Sign Ronnie Brewer with what ever left we have

Use our Bi Annual Exception to re-sign Maynor... Then use our second rounders to try to find someone good. Trevor Mbakwe is a nice prospect.

    Lillard/Maynor

    Mayo or Redick/Brewer/Barton

    Batum/Brewer

    Lamarcus/Mbakwe/Freeland

    Jordon/Leonard

The salary cap is set on July 1 so you have no idea what the cap will be but by all indications the league revenue was higher than projections which would cause the salary cap to rise.

Cmeese, you are completely right about DJ and Perkins. He isn't good enough for us to court. If he was a FA, maybe. Not really worth the trouble. If you want to talk about good starts, bad finishes, Mayo was worse than Batum. Reddick got traded and the Bucks completely misused him, but the guys is a lights out shooter, and a very good passer at the two. He wil also be expensive. I would say Asik, Splitter, Dalembert or Gortat.

Ok, having seen the stats and looked at some of the footage of the Thunder during the playoffs, I must admit that getting Perkins would be a bad idea for us. He was a stud in Boston because he fitted the way they play. And having considered that coach Stotts prefers to spread the floor on offense, neither Perk nor Jordan would fit into our scheme. So that leaves us with the problem of finding a big who can defend the Center position and shoot a 12-16 foot jumper. Hawes, Cousins and Barnagni. Andrea Barnagni can shoot but is injury prone and can't really defend bigs in the post.

So, that leads me to this suggestion. We could sign Dalembert as a starting center to fill the role that Haslem does in Miami where he fills minutes and let Meyers be our legitimate center. He brings offense to the table and at his size should really be a better rebounder. If he improves enough in the off season it could work. Brendan Haywood from Charlotte may also be a viable backup center. Not sure what he earns though.

Basically Dalembert is a fine pick up but if he is in ring seek mode then he will be going to the Lakers, Nets, Knicks or Heat who all need another back up center.

That pretty much leaves Zaza Pachulia as the best option via free agency. I really like Asik but do not believe Houston will let him go.

Houston won't unless they have a handshake on Dwight. Splitter would be great but he is a restricted FA and Pop loves him because he is such a great defender. Like you said Cmeese, if Dalembert wants a ring, he's not coming to Portland. That leaves Gortat. A good all round player. He could be good for us IF, we get a defensive minded back up. Someone like Taj Gibson.

Chris Wilcox is a free agent this offseason and earned less than 1mil last year. He could be a backup at the PF and C. A lot like what we had in Jeffries. Just a guy to fill a few front court minutes and be a good old hand for our young guys at practice. Wilcox will likely be a rental for next season and thereafter we can decide who we want to go after. By then we should have more clarity on the Lamarcus Aldridge situation.

Splitter will want to stay in San Antonio. I doubt he would want to leave them after this season. I still maintain that Pekovic is gettable if we structure his deal correctly. Minny have Kevin Love in the front court and if he can be healthy then they might just be open to letting Pek go. Love and Rubio are solid building blocks.

If Love wants out of Minny then we should put together the best package we can to get him. Love can play Center because he is an awesome rebounder!! Hickson in a sign and trade plus whoever it takes (excluding LMA and Lillard) to get him.

Love is a terrific all round player and would immediately add value to our team.

But that's just me wishing and dreaming. That's allowed in the offseason I'm sure.

Lakers got Howard without giving up Gasol last year. If there's a move to be made for Love, I'd pull the trigger immediately. The injuries are most likely a result of the load he has been taking on in Minny the past few seasons. If he was here in Portland he wouldnt have the same load on the offensive end. A legit 20/10 guy who can shoot the 3.

It may be unlikely to happen, but I'd really love to have Kevin Love in Rip City!!

Yeah if you take the beard out of Kevin Love, he seems like a deuche. Like the fat kid in school that used to bully you. He can't play Defence to save his life, and like I said, he and Lamarcus got problems. Remember when Stoudamire 'bowed LMA a couple times, LMA got in his face. Kendrick Perkins, scared the sh*t out of him. He isn't always the calm guy, he is pretty aggressive.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

A #3 pick can be garbage, martell webster was a #3 pick, this idea of trading for picks never works, yes our team sucks, yes we aren't gonna be good again till like 2016 hopefully, but this draft is week aldridge for ANY pick straight up is dumb.is he a free agent after this year? Cause that's the only way

Yo Cmeese, how would you propose about getting him (Larry Sanders). I like the idea of him in Portland. A good up and coming, young, defensive minded centre.

I am a fan of Damian Lillard!!

Landfill Sanders would take either the #1 pick or LMA it would not be cheap but could potentially happen with some creative dealing.

I am a fan of Getting Defensive Players This Summer.

naw he's a free agent in 2 years I believe but from some recent statements he's hinted towards win now or trade out of town

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

P.S. Would anybody happen to have a...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Thank God they are 19 games over 500.  Mayb...

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
