Proposed deal LA for Tristan Thompson and #1 pick likely Nelrens Noel

Here is my thoughts on the deal Thompson is a decent young player but I am not a fan of his. I also love me some Nelrens Noel but in all honesty at 206 pounds with 2 ACL injuries he does not seem like he could handle the grind on being an NBA center. He is a risk and with Portland's terrible luck with knee injuries (or bad doctors) that is not one we can afford to take.

I would ask for an increase in the offer, adding #19, Alonzo Gee or Marreese Speights or all three if they will make the deal.

There is some silver lining to all this though because moving LA would give the Blazers pieces to make more moves. Meyers Leonard, Tristan Thompson and #10 for DeMarcus Cousins could be a possibility although the prospect of Cousins being the same old head case but paying him around max money after next season is a little scary. I would focus on getting Sanders from the Bucks. A similar offer as the one for Cousins might be enough Portland could also eat Gooden's contract to get the deal done.

Portland trades Tristan Thompson, Meyers Leonard and pick #10 for Drew Gooden and Larry Sanders I would include multiple second rounders as well if needed.

You can then still move pick #1 and Nicolas Batum for extra pieces.

Not a fan of Meyers Leonard getting taken out of Portland.... IMHO the most athletic 7-footer in the NBA right now. Also, his value will keep going up and up. I like your trade, but think Meyers will be worth more.

Let that MeyersLeonard stock rise ;-) (no homo)

Exactly that is the issue with Leonard he does not use his athleticism on either side of the ball.

found a better trade than Simmons which I tweaked only a little bit to make it more fair

Cavaliers get: LaMarcus Aldridge + future picks

Pelicans get: Anderson Varejao, 10th pick in the draft (Blazers)

Warriors get: Ryan Anderson, 1st and in the draft (Cavaliers), 2nd round pick(s) (Blazers)

Blazers get: David Lee, CJ Miles, 6th pick in the draft (Pelicans)

Why each team does the deal:

Cavaliers- Aldridge is the dream for the Cavaliers, and thats no secret. Giving up the first pick is much easier in this draft, and keeping the 19th pick gives them the opportunity to still pick Rudy Gobert, who is on there radar. This leaves a gap at center, but that should be no trouble for Cleveland because they were without Varejao the majority of the season

    PG- Kyrie Irving

    SG- Dion Waiters

    SF- Alonzo Gee

    PF- LaMarcus Aldridge

    C- Tyler Zeller/ Rudy Gobert

Pelicans- The Hornets are looking for a big man, and only giving up Ryan Anderson and the 6th pick for a proven double double machine to put next to Anthony Davis plus keeping a top 10 lottery pick seems like a no brainer to me.

    PG- Grevis Vasquez

    SG- Eric Gordon

    SF- Al- Forouq Aminu

    PF- Anthony Davis

    C- Anderson Varejao

Warriors- This is arguably the hardest move for any of the teams. David Lee is one of the best at his position, along with Aldridge. Giving up their seemingly only inside offensive presence for yet another three point shooter may be tough, but having the ability to take Nerlens Noel with the first pick plus adding multiple second round picks could be a good idea when everyone stays healthy. Could also look to move the pick in a different deal

    PG- Stephen Curry

    SG- Klay Thompson

    SF- Harrison Barnes

    PF- Nerlens Noel

    C- Andrew Bogut

Blazers- As tough as it would be to see Aldridge go, this deal makes a lot of sense. Getting another top tier powerforward in David Lee is a good deal, plus adding a good bench player in CJ Miles helps. Moving up from the 10th pick to the 6th pick is also a major boost. This is a better asset for a trade for the proven center we are looking for. Packaging the 6th pick, cap relief and other assets for the defensive center is a no brainer as well. Sign Tony Allen in free agency and thats a squad.

    PG- Damian Lillard

    SG- Tony Allen, Wesley Matthews

SF- Nicolas Batum, CJ Miles, Victor Claver

    PF- David Lee, Joel Freeland

    C- ???????????, Meyers Leonard

And David Lee is just a better rebounder than LMA. He is one of the worst defenders in the entire NBA. Seriously, Lamarcus is a better defender than him.

And we shouldn't trade away our players, to make place or to sign someone else. Because if we don't sign that person, we're screwed. Dallas Mavericks.

Maybe we should just trade Damian too cause every other post is either recommending an LA or Nic trade. So, maybe just trade everyone with remote talent on the roster.

Yes, let's become completely sh*t, because the 2023 draft class in the best since 2003. This kid LeKobe Gasoldridge is the best ever. He is 8"9 with a 35" wingspan. He grew up in 5 century greece with the spartans so we know he's tough. I heard that place is like the oakland of detroit. Then, we could trade him, for 13 other shit players, because the 2769 draft is EVEN BETTER.

Or maybe just maybe half the people know on this site that Portland will end up signing some scrub like Samuel Dalembert and maybe a couple mediocre bench players and Portland improved enough to sneak into the playoffs. Then once you get beaten in 5 and sent home before May yet again at least you can say we at least we made the playoffs.

Except the only problem is now we do not have a first round pick and we spent all of our cap money so your stuck hoping whatever guy you can sign for the MLE is enough to keep the team competitive. Except someone gets injured and the team struggles and finds themselves fighting for the 7th and 8th playoff spot again. Except now you are desperate, so you either trade LA for pennies on the dollar so he does not leave during free agency or make a desperate trade for some talented but over paid players knowing if you fail to advance beyond the first round again LA will leave and you will be stuck with these ridiculous contracts.

Ask the Cavs how long it takes to recover from that, or the Pistons what it is like to be saddled with bad contracts and no hope of improving quickly, lets see how long it takes the Magic even with smart trades to recover from Howard.

The good thing about gambling on rookies is they are cheap and if they do not work out you can easily get rid of them. Good luck finding anyone to come within a country mile of Batum if he struggles or gets injured again.

    Well said Cmeese

I would not give up LA for #1 and Thompson, especially an injured Noel as the likely choice, however, If I can get Waiters or some extra picks not in this draft like one next year and one later I would do that.

What do you think of the Golden State Warriors Cmeese??

They are not loaded with draft picks, they rebuilt for a while with constant years in the lottery

They got Curry, Thompson, Barnes,  as their only real young developing players

Then they have Ezeli and Green

They have a great 4 w/David Lee, they picked up a good defensive center in Bogut then added a good bench/Vets with Jarret Jack, Carl Landry,

They made the 6th seed and got PAST the first round and really pressured The Spurs

What do you think about them? How long can they last, are they lottery bound?? Do you think WE are THAT far away from them???

I think the Warriors bench was a huge bonus for them last year. If they can afford to keep Landry and Jack then they will stay competitive. If they lose one or both I would expect some recession also Curry's ankles are a constant issue.

Portland can improve and we are a few pieces away especially if Lillard can continue to improve.

A couple months ago some GSW fan wanted to trade Barnes and Biendrins for Batum... this was before his wrist injury so I was a little hesitance. I would jump all over that today lol

The Warriors also have basically 2 head coaches with Jackson and Mike Malone. If Golden State allows anyone to talk to him this summer they are stupid.
