I said it, Dwight Howard would be STUPID not to consider a sign and trade to Portland!  Dwight Howards best season was in 08-09, when Orlando went to the finals (losing to the Lakers), why because he had shooters around him, that offense stretched the floor. Dwight Howard would get the ball in the paint, demanded a double, no, triple team and he would simply pass the ball out to a Rashard Lewis, JJ Redick, Hedo Turkoglu, Ryan Anderson, or Jameer Nelson. Easiest offense EVER! The only thing that team lacked was defense, all those shooters can't play a lick of defense in this league, and made it to the NBA finals. Portland has shooters Matthews, Batum, Lillard, and LA can shoot the rock, and the most exciting part is our shooters can play defense, our perimeter defense was the 3rd best in the league last year! Our defensive problems was caused in the paint, why, we didn't have a decent shoot blocker and Dwight Howard isn't a decent shoot blocker, the kid is a BEAST! Dwight Howard has never been apart of a team with the defensive studs we got, and they're getting better (Lillard working with GP)! I think if anybody can sell this huge opportunity to Dwight Howard its our Neil Olshey. Neil can simply gather LA, Lillard, Batum, Matthews, and Paul Allen himself to Dwights house to show him we are committed to winning, and bringing a NBA championship to Portland.  Easier said then done, NO! Easier DONE, then said! And if anybody can afford the luxury tax for the next 5-6 years, its Paul Allen!

The Lakers would also be STUPID for not trying to sell him on a deal with the Blazers! Blazers could offer the best package for the Lakers, the offer would include Meyers Leonard 22 yrs old, Joel Freeland 26 yrs old, Victor Claver 24 yrs old, JJ Hickson 24 yrs old (sign/trade), Trevor Ariza 27 yrs old or another wing player (sign/trade), 2013 1st RD pick, 2015 1st RD pick, rights to Papa-something 22 yrs old (kid from Greece).  Thats six young talented players, plus two future 1st rd draft picks, all for the price of a 28 year old center who doesn't fit Coach D'Antoni's system. All but Freeland would be perfect for his system, and it make the old Lakers young and exciting, like the show time of old.

2013-14 Lakers - younger and more athletic team that tailors Mike D'Antoni's style

    J.Hill / M.Leonard / R.Sacre

    P.Gasol / J.Hickson / E.Clark

    T.Ariza (another wing in sign/trade deal) / V.Claver / D.Ebanks / Papa-something (Greece kid)

    K.Bryant / 10th pick in draft / FA

    S.Nash / S.Blake / C.Duhon

If that doesn't please Kobe, then they have some good trade assets.

    2013-14 Portland Trail Blazers

    Dwight Howard 28yrs old / (FA) J.Przybilla 33yrs old (8-10 minutes a game)

LaMarcus Aldridge 28yrs old / (45th pick) Ryan Kelly (senior from Duke, coached by a living legend)

Nicolas Batum 25yrs old / (39th pick) James Southerland (senior from Syracuse, coached by another legend)

Wesley Matthews 26yrs old / Will Barton 22yrs old

Damian Lillard 23yrs old / (40th pick) Peyton Siva (senior from Louisville, coached by another legend)

That wouldn't be the whole team we would get some Free Agents who would want to join the team and contribute to our NBA championship.  Paul Allen get it done, if you have to pay half the players under the table to do so, then get to it! Neil Olshey, NO BALLS!!!

Howard would be fine if he was the same player he was in Orlando, but his back has really slowed him down and he is no longer the most dominant center in the league. His offense was always trying to dunk on people and getting fouled he has not improved in that area.

We cannot sign and trade a player on another team so Ariza is not an option. Also since we owe a pick to the Bobcats we cannot trade future picks so 2015 first is out as well. Also for you trade to work out financially the Lakers would need to pay JJ 8 million a season not sure they are excited about that. Especially when trading him to the Rockets could land Omer Asik who is 10 times better than anyone we would be offering. The Rockets could offer Asik, Lin and a pick for Howard, then they could use their cap space to sign CP3 and they are now title contenders. So yah Howard would be stupid to consider a trade here when he could be in that situation.

Dwight Howard is a cancer to his team and a coach killer and I love Terry Stotts! Howard would be the worst thing ever to happen to the Blazers (And that's saying allot considering what we've been through!) Friends don't let friend's pick up Dwight Howard's contract. Just say no! if d12 can't win with kobe, gasol, blake, world peace, and sometimes nash i dont see him winning here. besides him being injured he is a diva. i dont like the fact he threw his coach under the bus and publicly embarrassed orlando. same reason why i wouldn't want melo. players that force trades to specific teams are pretty low in the loyalty column. the least they could've done was keep it out of the media, they should've gone straight to the gm requested a trade, and gave them time and be patient.

Nah man. I don't normally disagree with you guys (Sug and Siccolo), but Dwight would ruin everything that Rip City is. Dwight wants to be the number one guy. LMA is our number one, maybe even Lillard now. D12 won't take that.

And DoubleDz, your roster, has no real backup centre. Joel P is a 3rd String and that's being generous. They are both huge liabilities late in close games. And all your backups are second rounders. Once again, we would have only good starters, no real second unit, mostly rookies, and would be with another 30 win season. I'm not even going to bother looking at the salary situation. And the Lakers could just sign JJ or Ariza themselves.

Imagine Dwight in the post and having Nic, Wes, Damian beyond the 3 and having Aldridge doing his thang

Dwight and Damian pick and rolls

    Nic lobbing it to Dwight

Wes hitting 3s and ish lol

WTF do you call Tim Duncan. The dude is arguably the best PF in NBA history, I guess I did not realize that all this time he was making first team all NBA ballots that he was not a superstar.

Memphis is an exception because they play elite defense. Three players on the NBA all-defensive team including the DPOY and Prince has only been named on that team 4 times in the past. Portland had zero people on that list, which is why they need help.

Dwight is talker, not a do'er. Olshey had the right idea. Hibbert and L.A. would have been a force down low. Joakim and L.A. would also be dangerous. DeMarcus Cousins, provided he stays on his meds would make us really formidable in the post too. We'll see how it plays out though.

No offense double dz, but that line up looks horrible to me. JJ Hickson averaged better numbers than Dwight Howard did. What was the Blazers problem this year?....OUR BENCH. If the Blazers added Howard they would have no money to sign what this team needs. A bench. The blazers had one of the best starting 5s in the league, and still lost 12 straight to close out the season. A bunch of rookies on the bench again for another year. NO THANK YOU. The blazers need depth, not a center who is going to eat up all the blazers money. I'm disappointed in reading some of these posts. The blazers are 4 bench players away from making the playoffs.

We wont get 4 great bench players even if we tried. But if we got Dwight Howard, we wouldn't need them. We would lead the league in rebounding and he would fit our offense perfectly. LA could step out and finally put up those 16-23 ft jumpers at will because D12 would be there to command attention in the post. And we would have the rim protector and help defender that we need. D12 and LA are great offensive rebounders too. And Dwight takes good high percentage shots so we would have good balance on offense.

With Dwight on our squad, we would get 50-55 wins a year without breaking a sweat. Besides, LA is more of a team guy anyway and he would make room for a legitimate SUPERSTAR at the 5 if he had to. Olshey!!! GO GET HOWARD!!!!

@sicolo ...way better stats? they averaged the same amount of rebounds and only 5 more points. I know Howard was hurt most of the year but I'm just saying Hickson had a solid year. I know howard is twice as good but come on guys saying hes going to solve all of our problems is ridiculous. If they brought Howard in they would have a bunch of no names on their bench again. Do you think no names on the bench and a starting 5 with Howard can carry us to 50 + games? I highly doubt it.

Big men go get there shots. Big men take there shots. They dont need plays drawn up for them unless there is a clear mismatch. Hence the mouse in the house phrase. Howard is a punk and once his athleticsm is gone, so is he. He is thee worst cerebral big in the game today.
