LA won't leave Portland. If we make even the first round of the playoffs next year, which we will, he won't leave.

He might not but trading him for young pieces might be our best chance at getting better. Note making the wrong trade for LA can also make us worse.

It is a gamble either way.

Dude, LA is our franchise player. There is no team without him. Not from a nostalgic sense, but seriously. Not our main player. The only starters I will even entertain the notion of trading is Wes and Nic, and I still don't want to trade them.

LA just has the most value which is why trading him or at least thinking about makes some sense the return on the deal is the important variable

If he has the most value, why do you want to trade him. There is no expiration date on him. I understand wanting to have more good players, but honestly Terry Stotts is not George Karl and can't make a teams great with a collection of good players. More specifically he needs a shooting big man. I'm sure he has other plays, but he is best with a guy like Dirk or LA.

A coaches job is to coach if you cannot adjust to the players you have you are not exactly a very good coach. Just look at Diantoni he screwed up what should have been a very good Laker team because he could not adjust.

The Lakers this year were easy to coach. Pound the ball to Howard and Gasol on the block for the first three quarters then get out of Kobe's way in the 4th. Do that and they win 50-55 games this year.

I like LA but I truly believe Stotts will ruin the guy he is slowly drifting farther and farther from the hoop and even talked about shooting the three this summer. That is all fine if you have a post scorer, LA is our post scorer, he needs to be down practicing setting up on the right side, working on his baby hook, and finishing through contact. He also should be working on his face up game and practicing taking people off the dribble from the high pick and roll. Not shooting three pointers.

He just said working on it, so in a fix, he can make them. And did you listen to why he said he takes more jumpers? He said before what he almost exclusively did was go iso on the left block. This year, he does more plays, gets open shots, and takes them. If Lillard wasn't there, LA would be averaging around 28 a game. I know his FG% is down a bit, but he's getting more good shots and taking them, and more importantly, making them. His ability to hit from the outside, frees up the lane so much for Lillard. That's overlooked.

Cmeese, what you did get absolutely right, was the he needs to work on the right block and develop that baby hook of his. The only time he can score after dribbling is either a pump fake or backing a guy down. Not many drives to the basket or anything. Nate McMillan had a one sided approach to LMA. I think what Stotts is doing is great. This is sort of LMA's year backpacking around Europe (That's a thing white people do right?). He should settle down next year and find a good rhythm. Anyone with common sense would know that LMA is best in the low post and will use that. I like Stotts a lot. I think he will do a great job here in Portland for years to come.

I hope your right but watching Aldridge take a career high in attempts from beyond 16 feet this year has me deeply concerned.

I love what both Stotts and LA said about areas of improvement. Stotts said everyone on this team has areas that need to be addressed and every player also pointed out the holes in their games they need to fill to get to the next level. This isn't Iverson refusing to practice here. These guys know what the challenges are. I hope LA becomes a lights out 3 pt shooter. Sabonis and Laimbeer were both really good 3pt shooters for big men. Scoring is scoring and 3pts beats 2 when you need them.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
