Most people wouldnt look upon a case such as this and feel bad for this guy at all,I mean he basically did it to hmself, how do you blow 150 million dollars.Alot of people respond with"if I had 150 million" and blah blah blah. Alot of people dont realize that the phrase"more money more problems" is very true. As a person who has had it all,I know that money doesnt necissarily answers all our problems,I know that just a few mistakes in this unforgiving society can bring you crashing down no matter how high you climb,I know that we are only human and we make mistakes, especially when it comes to substance abuse. Substance abuse will ruin lives and make ANY amount of money dissapear. I feel bad for him because he really is a good person who is misunderstood, and his mistakes have cost him dearly. He does have a nice backup fund of 30 million coming his way,but thats not untill 2030,so will he make it the next 17 years at this rate? When you have money alot of people can suck you dry,its amazing how many people in this world have absolutley no shame when it comes to doing whatever they can to get their hands on the green, and like I said i feel bad for People like Iverson who get taken advantage of and now have to suffer. Going form riches to rags is the worst feeling in the world take it from someone who knows all about it

His mansion in Atlanta probably cost more than that and he's losing it. Iverson had a huge entourage wherever he went, didn't pay his taxes, got divorced, on and on and on. He lived like a rock star and that doesn't last long. Myself I could retire on a rookie minimum contract salary for one year and live well. It's hard to understand but that's life. Nicholas Cage lost more money than Iverson.

Yeah, what people dont get though is that we always say what WE could do in that situation,I dont know what the rookie minimum is but if its less then a million I doubt it. crazy stuff happens in life, people, mistakes when you've got that amount of money your life changes, your brain changes, thinks happens, substance abuse is something that really takes over, belive me

There are plenty of examples where players keep a level head. I think it was Gordon Hayward of the Jazz bought a Honda Civic or something of that nature when he got his first pay check and still drives that around. The bare minimum salary a rookie can make is just under $500,000, which is a good amount. But then again, most make at least $1 mil, which if used correctly could easily be invested and/or saved for retirement.

substance abuse often times has to do with depression been there done that nothing to do with money I mean dudes don't wake up and be like "hey I got money today I think I'm gonna smoke a big fat rock for the hell of it" he was probably battling substance abuse long before he got into the nba I mean if you really break it down addiction is an uncureable disease doesn't matter if you've been sober for a year or more it'll always be there

Prenups are essential to keep your money, also not knocking up 10 greedy women helps too, avoiding gambling and not paying a massive entourage is important too. Lots of ways to lose money even 150 million.

Very true, addiction will always be there, but if you've go the money to drop on the drugs you want it just makes it that easier to keep going. I used to say ' I used to have a drug problem, now I make enough money'

We had a sports agent come in and talk to our school earlier this year. Talked about his time with Jermaine O'neal when he was first drafted and also talked about LeBron. Says these guys waste their money on their  "friends", pretty much a hype guy, and end up going broke for it. Luckily LeBron cut those guys off pretty early in his career. I feel like the mentality and looks have changed greatly now from the early 2000's which could play into the fact AI went broke.

Also all of Klay Thompson's money is given to his parents and they give him an allowance which I think is pretty smart although I would rather get a real financial advisor

He blew it plain and simple from wreckless spending to bad investments to divorce... either way, if a little planning goes into it, anyone can have money... from an NBA star to a Drive Thru order taker at McDonalds. Its just about how you treat it.
