I have been trying to come up with a great Center for this team to get and only 2 real options come to mind.

The first is Marc Gasol I really doubt that Memphis would be willing to let Gasol go but if they were would you trade him for Lamarcus Aldridge.

Personally, this was tough for me but I would do the trade. Gasol is such a great defender and a smart player, which when combined with the premium put on the Center position more than offsets any offensive advantage LA has.

The other man that came to mind was Andre Drummond, Portland missed the bag big not moving up to take him @9 and now his great post defense and rebounding will be shining in Detroit for years to come. If Portland could trade LA for Stuckey, Drummond and a first rounder I would make the deal. That hurt to write.

and why wouldn't you @ ripcity? finding a scoring option is so much easier then finding a defensive beast down low

No way. The idea here is to add assets to the team not subtract them. Yeah we need a center but not at the expense of our franchise player. Sign and trade JJ for a center to a team that needs a power forward but LaMarcus is untouchable in my opinion

I would argue that Gasol is also a franchise player in fact he might be better than LA is right now he is ranked higher on the ESPN player rankings for one.

marc gasol is good, they are probably on par,but aldridge is at the very least even with him or better, nobody in the league thinks gasol is better, maybe sportswriters do,but aldridge gets alot of praise from his peers, lebron considers him a top 10 player and has called him the best PF in the league,I dont know about that but it says something when your peers think that highly of you, something totally different then espn sportswriters and fans opinions

That maybe true Chloe but the question is what is easier to find a good Power Forward or a Good Center.

I would argue that by being a 7'1 defensive minded center who does everything well Gasol is more valuable than LA because of his position.

I'll take a great power forward which we have and a good center that doesn't wipe out the money it'll take to shore up the bench anyday. LaMarcus wants to be here and retire his jersey next to a championship. I feel the same. We'll get a defensive, rebounding center offseason without losing a core player and Memphis has a good power forward in ZBo right now. This trade scenario makes absolutely no sense

The question was simple would you trade LA for Marc Gasol not if Memphis would or if Portland would

I would trade LA for Gasol, LA is an all star and a great scorer but Gasol is an elite defender, an amazing passer and can rebound and score. Plus it is easier to find a PF than it is to find a C.

I like Chandler but he is much older than LA or Gasol so not worth it to me.

Lillard waiving someone does not save us money it just opens a roster spot. Plus Howard will sign for 5 years and 118 million with the Lakers if he does not he leaves 30 million on the table. Your asking him to give up 58 million and numerous endorsements and commercial opportunities that won't happen especially since we are a lottery team.

Unless its someone like Dwight howard,One dude is not gonna make alot of difference on defense you guys, seriously.defense these days is all about team defense, getting back in transition, screens and rotations. you see alot of guys defending player who are not the same posistion as them, good coaches adjust the matchups.  I dont know who all these "defensive beasts"are out there

Exactly what Chloe said. While I do agree the most one on one defence is played in the most, most of it is team defence. Blazers have decent individual defenders (save Lillard and Hickson), and I still stand by LA being a better offensive player than Gasol. I haven't seen his skill and smarts in the post in a looooong time.

HAHAHA, no way Detroit parts with Drummond. I would hoard him like a hoarder would hoard something. Kinda reminds me a bit of Oden. Except less scary looking. Looks kinda innocent really. Greg looked like he was gonna shank you at any time. I don't think the grizzlies would part with another gasol anyway.

I'm not even sure Detroit would part with Drummond for the 1st pick in the Draft. He's the hope for their franchise right now and with centers at such a premium, there's no way they're dealing  him, esp one on a rookie deal.
