Trail Blazers (33-46) At Nuggets (54-25)

    What To Watch For

    The Mile High Altitude
Regardless of how good either team is, Portland has never fared well in the Mile High City. But this year, the Nuggets have been special at the Pepsi Center. Not only are they a league-best 36-3 in Denver, but they have won 21 straight home contests and are fighting for playoff positioning so they won't be taking their divisional foes from the Pacific Northwest lightly. The first 12 minutes of action are so very crucial for the Trail Blazers. Over the course of their 10-game losing streak, they have only led after the first quarter twice (at home against Utah and at home against Los Angeles). Portland has been outscored by an average score of 30.7-25.3 during this period. For a team that is banged up (Batum and Matthews may travel but as of Friday night were expected to miss Sunday's game in Denver), playing from behind is not the answer. Although they weren't able to hang on against Utah or L.A., by getting off to a hot start, they kept themselves in the game for an entire 48 minutes and had their opportunities to escape victorious. For Portland to upset Denver in their house, they must lead after the first quarter.

    Will The Thrill
Yes, the Trail Blazers lost by 16 points to the Thunder, but at halftime it was anyone's game. And that was in large part due to Will Barton's energizing play. OKC had pushed their lead to double-digits midway through the 2nd, but Will caught fire. First he took a pass on the left side of the court and dribbled right into the body of Thabo Sefolosha before unleashing an mammoth tomahawk slam down on one the NBA's best defenders. Then he jammed another one home before ending the quarter with a beautiful, reverse lay-up on the baseline that had the Rose Garden rocking. This will likely be The Thrill's third straight start so look for consistency. Against Dallas, he had the 22-13-6-3 line, but was unable to match that output the following game against Los Angeles where he shot just 4-12 from the field and didn't have much of an impact on the glass, record just 1 rebound. Will calling card coming out of Memphis was his ability rebound the basketball. So even if he's not shooting it well, he has the type of game to make an impact in all other facets. He's fantastic at playing the passing lanes, thieving the opposition 7 times over these last three games. Case and point was the Oklahoma City game. Will ended up with 18 points, but it took him 19 shots to do so, but that's not where his production ended. He went back to the basics and crashed the glass to the tune of 7 rebounds and ended up with his usual 2 steals. Will's a lot like Nic in the way they both fill up the box score. If The Thrill can get to the basket, crash the boards, and play those passing lanes against one of the hottest teams in the NBA, Trail Blazers fans will have even more reason to be happy about the future.

I like Willy B. He still strikes me as the second coming of J. Cross Crawford. Its just a matter of time before we are back to that Sabonis Pippen era. Keep the faith my people. We're on our way.Haters beware.

I am a fan of our new roster playing with and for eachother.

We had the lead against OKC for a second. We just need to keep some good flow going. We ran into some swampy play after halftime last game. Denver really likes to drive at the hoop. Keep your guy in front and D, and look for transition opportunities.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

P.S. Would anybody happen to have a...

The Blazers were winning!  That is the key word, were.  Blazers are living proof that you can live and die by the jumper.  Lately it has been dying.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
