    What To Watch For

    Meyers Leonard's Consistency
Against the Golden State Warriors, Meyers Leonard had a breakout performance, racking up career-highs left and right as he tallied 22 points and 10 rebounds in over 40 minutes of action as he started for the injured LaMarcus Aldridge. If Aldridge doesn't travel with the team to Utah, expect Leonard to once again get the start and play heavy minutes. He was able to use both his soft touch around the rim and his athleticism to rack up those points against a solid Warrior front-line featuring Andrew Bogut, David Lee, Festus Ezeli, and Carl Landry. Now he must go up against an even better trio of poster players in Paul Millsap, Al Jefferson, and Derrick Favors. Watch for Meyers' consistency tonight. Does he look timid? Or does he come out aggressive from the jump, looking for his shot and trying to dunk everything in sight? I think we'll see the latter out of our rook tonight and if he can have the same type of offensive impact tonight as he did Saturday night, this could go a long ways in his development and boost his confidence over the final month of the season. Finally, keep an eye on him when Jefferson is in the game. Favors defends the pick and roll with much more vigor than Jefferson and Meyers made a lot of highlight-reel dunks against Golden State off the pick and roll to the bucket.

    Interior Defense
With Aldridge out against Utah last Friday, the Jazz bigs had a field-day inside, as Jefferson, Millsap, and Favors combined for 60 points, on 27-43 shooting, and 28 rebounds. Portland must hold this trio below 50 points, or at the very least force them to shoot below 50% from the field. Utah's post play is their bread and butter and if they get rolling, especially at home, it can be an uphill climb for the visiting squad. The Trail Blazers could always disguise their defenses and send doubles from different angles, but then they risk leaving the likes of Mo Williams, Gordon Hayward, and randy Foye who shot 8-9 from downtown in his last home game against Brooklyn. If I'm Portland though, I'll take my chances with the shooters and try to get the bigs out of rhythm early on. Both Wesley Matthews and Nicolas Batum are great defenders who know how to give great help-side defense without leaving their men completely open.

I just would like to see better defense.  I could care less if we score the ball or win, although that would be nice.

I knew Meyers could jam and he was athletic, but WOW. Against Golden State, his dunks were athletic for some small forwards forget centres. Want to see him be aggressive offensively. We all know what will happen if he does that defensively though (5 fouls in 15 minutes).

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

Just goes to show how LA makes the game so much easier for everyone, defense and effort is still an issue I would figure that this team will look at one of these two problem and try to address and improve on it but, I guess that's asking too much, I also seen in this game that the main players on this team know that this season over and their playoff chase is over.

    Get well soon LaMarcus.

I would agree with your observation CarlJ1.  I believe relevance is a fleeting thing in sports.  Case in point...activity on our boards is sliding almost parallel to the effort the Blazer core is giving.  Those here and still posting will enjoy this team's future successes that much more.  The bandwagoneers will flock back, trust me.  Death, taxes, and bandwagoneers.

Paul Allen said how do we get better?  I see no activity in the draft with no draft picks.  The trade possibilities are limited because of the value of our bench players.  We have no cap space.  So I think the improvement of our b...

First Game starts tonight. Houston is a tough first round opponent and they play exceptionally well at home. If we can steal a game or two at their place, I feel like we have extremely good chances.

Hawes will be a hot commodity by the trade deadline, I would think the sixers could find a better offer.

However, I do believe Mo Williams could have somewhat of  a high trade value. Olshey needs to make a deal to get a big man while we...
