If we could get a good deal for Al Horford, a good defensive C with a lot of offense also.  I love JJ but unless he is willing to take a pay cut (not likely in the NBA, possibly in the future with this CBA but not yet) he will be too expensive to keep as has been said numerous times.  I doubt the Hawks would be willing to part ways with him outside of a miracle (More Likely to trade Smith, no thank you imo)  We could potentially say sign Hickson to 7-8 a year and trade Freeland (I would rather keep him, call me a biased fan) or Jefferies or Pavlovic so they can be under the cap and we turn into a 3-5 seed over summer...

    Thoughts and constructive criticism please

its 100% hypothetical that is why I said it would be a miracle, the only possibility is because they end up keeping smith (unlikely) and want to get under cap but that is why I made the thread, it is fun to dream and I would love to see us at least ask about his availability, no harm in the inquiry

Only way we get Horford is if we give up either Lamarcus or Nic. But like you said if that were to happen that'd be a great day... just great.

I thought we can only do sign and trades to teams that are over the cap, and ATL is way under.

I know that BKN was interersted at the Deadline, and If we dont decide to keep him we might get some assets from them.

If we do a sign and trade tho, say 4 years 28 million, will that count against our cap?? That will be more than half our spending money this off season.....

I think as far as JJ is concerned, the chips are going to fall where they may. Our number one priority is and will remain, a big. Had Nic Batum been made aware that Olshey was about to tender a fat offer to Hibbert,he might have kept more hush about his gripes. Obviously Hibbert L.A.,Batum,Wesley and The Lillard sounds like a damned good starting five. It didnt materialize we move on. Now what we concentrate on is who is the most servicable big who knows and plays his position that we can give about $7.5 to $8.5 M, draft or acquire a big 2 guard with Lillard potential. Shake some weight off our roster.

I think with our position in the draft witch will likley be about the 12th spot the only one I can see that is worth grabbing is cj mccollum who could possibly be a pretty solid 6th man his rookie year and he's a combo gaurd so he can split minutes if need be with maynor @ pg too but he's more of a sg imo

Mccollum would be a great pick but I would like to see Blazers pick up Dieng or Whitey.... Then maybe we wouldnt have to spend money on a big time center and can use our cap space else where

Roy hibbards #'s this season arent even on par with JJ's. Thats gonna be a issue on the free-agent market. There isnt a big out there better then JJ and yes ok he's undersized but its not 1994. Big men in the NBA are a thing of the past,NBA has gone small and most players who play center are actually power forwads, there are very few TRUE centers in the game now. 20 years ago you hade Olajuwon,Shaquille,Ewing,Robinson,Parish,Mutumbo,Mourning and Im probably missing someone. Duckworth was solid, and Sabonis came in the league in 96,but now there arent. Maybe Howard,Emeka Okafur(is he still around) and a few other guys. Thats why everyone made such a big deal about Oden a few years back because it was a anommaly that people thought would put the blazers over the top(instead he set our franchise back years). I mean think about it,Greg Oden will still get alot of Offers when he is finally able to play again. Hell the blazers should just think about giving him another year next year, why not? OKC,Miami both have alot of interest and they are there respective conferance champs

either we need a defensive c in our starting line up or a defensive role player that we can use in late game situations when we need stops

Chloe your displeasure for anything other than keeping Hickson is well chronicled but I don't go on your posts and be hostile so please don't come on mine.  From a #'s standpoint Horford (whom this thread was originally about not Hibbert) is beyond JJ, it is POSSIBLE to do a sign and trade for him.... Is it likely?  No, it isn't and I said that but I also said that this is a HYPOTHETICAL thread so please stay on topic

Keeping JJ would really be nice. He is a good rebounder and gives us 10-12 points a night. Great numbers for someone playing out of position out in the Western conference. But truth be told, LA is our Tim Duncan and he does a really good jobe carrying the team on the offensive end when our other guys are not knockjng down 3s.

In terms of getting a legitimate centre, I feel we need someone who offers length and a defensive presence. Look at what K.G. did for Boston. He offers less scoring tham when he was in Minnesota but gives them rebounding, shot blocking and great help defense.

We need to get rid of Freeland, Nolan and Jeffries and get a solid centre to help our second unit. Maynor will run the offense in the 2nd unit but that doesnt help anything if we arent getting stops when our starting 5 is off the floor

im not being hostile, I'd LOVE to be able to do the trade you mentioned. But its a NBA2k trade. Atlanta would never THINK of doing it,so why discuss fantasy. I was on topic, too. Why dont we talk about possibly signing Dwight Howard too? I mean its possible hypothetically right?  I think Im alittle misunderstood with hickson, If we could deal him for something better, yes do it by all means, but there is nothing out there that is a improvement. The closet thing I've heard from people is this guy peckovic in minnesota,if you wanna trade a guy or let him walk, at least get a resonable replacement, and there arent many good centers available. We arent in combat here, you dont have to be soo defensive. Im sure on your NBA2k you got Horford at center, and probably some kinda dwayne wade trade for will barton or something as well, but those are video game trades, not real life

Atlanta will not trade Horford, Smith will likely leave this summer so the Hawks will be left to build around Horford and Teague.

Hibbert is a good help defender but he is not a great one on one defender. He would have made a big impact defensively for this team but his average rebounding would have just left another hole to fill.

I would do a sign and trade for an expiring contract like Stuckey's in Detroit or Marvin Williams for the Jazz but value wise we are not going to get much in return.

What this team needs is someone like Larry Sanders to come in and play the four. LA and Sanders at the 4 and 5 would be solid defensively. With Leonards  big body available on the bench for the power 5's like a Howard or Horford we would be pretty versatile.

Of course that won't happen and we will all be here next year complaining and hoping.

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
