Trail Blazers (32-36) At Hawks (38-30)

    What To Watch For

    Hickson On The Boards
JJ Hickson is coming off of a career-high 21 rebounds against a Chicago frontcourt that features Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer. And when JJ grabs 15 or more boards, the Trail Blazers are 9-4 in those contests. One game they didn't come away victorious was against the Hawks back on November 12th where Atlanta handed Portland a 95-87 loss in front of the BlazerManiacs. In that contest, Hickson was a beast as he scored 19 points, on 8-14 shooting, and pulled down 18 rebounds, including 7 on the offensive end of the floor. Normally those numbers would have resulted in a W for the Trail Blazers, but the home team shot just 36.1% (30-83) on the night and received only 6 bench points. If the Trail Blazers can shoot like they did against Chicago (41-84, 48.8%) and get the same production out of Hickson on the glass, they'll pick up their second win on this road trip.

    Limit The ATL Frontcourt
The Trail Blazers allowed both Al Horford and Josh Smith to rack up double-doubles the last time these two teams met. Horford went off for 15 points and 10 rebounds while Smith added in 19 points and 11 rebounds. And don't look now, but Al Horford is playing his best basketball of the season right now as he's averaging 18.8 points, on 50.6% FG shooting, 12.4 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks over his last five games. One way to contain them is to force them to play both ends of the court. LaMarcus Aldridge is on some kind of roll right now and will have to keep his current hot hand going in ATL to keep the paint open for his guards to operate. LA shot just 4-13 the last time these two teams met and Horford has the bulk to make it difficult to do work inside while Smith posses the quickness and length to bother him on the perimeter. It will be interesting to see which defender checks Aldridge first and whether or not ATL switches defenders throughout the game.

Same thing, get some rhythm early. Expect contact and deliver contact. I think that was key to beating Chicago. The Bulls weren't expecting the Blazers to be the bruisers. Play hard every possession and make every shot count.

hopefully horford slides over and gaurds aldridge it seems like a trend as of late that the bigs are trying to stop aldridge who can bring him out of the paint

Can't help but feel like we're going to miss the playoffs and lose our first. Such a bad feeling.

I''m not talking about those kinda calls, but phantom calls. Kobe gets soooo many phantom calls. I like Lebron, but I know because he''s a superstar he gets certain actions overlooked. Kobe just gets random stuff called. Remember when Kobe smacked...

Oh, sorry Damian, you make so many I stopped reading them. I don''t because I don''t know much about salaries and stuff. Stephenson would be great, excellent rebounder, Tough Defender, is playing awesome in  today''s  game.

Siccolo, did you mean heavier or lighter? I don''t think Noel will do well in the league. If he stays healthy long enough, he might be a half decent starter, if not, Greg Oden.

Damian, you are completely right on that, let''s just hope it''s not a negative impact (Shout out, Ray Ray). And since when did people WANT to come to Portland? This is great.

We really do not need so many rehashes.

joint option for year three at like 8 million. Then if he works out you got him for a bargain for 2-3 years and if not it costs only 1.2 million for next year.

  8. Is Paul Allen more Concerned about Profits then Winning a Championship?

Paul Allen might sell the Blazers but the Blazers will never leave Rip City.
