Trail Blazers (31-35) At Bucks (33-32)

    What To Watch For

    Backcourt Battle
Since Milwaukee acquired Monte Ellis last season, the Trail Blazers have faced off against the Bucks three times and have yet to solve their small, dynamic backcourt. Back on January 19th Portland fell at home to the visitors from Wisconsin, but that game was decided during a three-minute stretch to begin the second quarter when Nolan Smith subbed in for Damian Lillard and the Bucks pressured Smith into three, quick turnovers en route to a 17-0 run which the Blazers, try as they might, could never dig themselves all the way out of the hole, eventually losing 110-104. That run aside, the Trail Blazers still need to win the backcourt battle if they want to pick up win No. 1 on this road trip, but slowing down Ellis and Brandon Jennings is easier said then done. Over their last 10 games, Ellis is averaging 26.5 points, on 51.3% shooting, 7 assists, and 4.1 rebounds while his running mate, Jennings is putting up 15.2 points, 10.7 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 steal of his own. Wesley Matthews will be assigned to Ellis while Lillard will draw Jennings. Ellis loves to score off the curl so it's important for Wesley to fight through the screens and deny Monte the ball at all opportunities. For Lillard, the best defense is a great offense. Attack Jennings early and force him to exert more energy on the defensive side of the floor.

    Continue To Ride The L-Train
In defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers, LaMarcus Aldridge became the first player this season in the NBA to post back-to-back 30/10 (points, rebounds) games as he went off for 32 points and 14 rebounds. LA was recently named player of the week for the Western Conference and he's showing no signs of cooling down. Portland was down by as many as 14 in the second half in Philly, but behind Aldridge, they rallied. He's an unstoppable player when he's fed in the post, which is where Portland needs to look each and every time down the floor. Also, look for Lillard and Aldridge to work the two-man game in a variety of ways (pick-n-roll, pick-n-pop) to keep Milwaukee's defense on their heels.

We got to beat these Bucks. I'm sick of losing to them. They keep whoopin' us. Play with pride and passion, and lets put a road win in our wallet.

At least the Blazers pulled it together and finished with some positives moving forward. A 38 point 4th quarter will usually win you a lot of games. Just play hard and help each other on the court, good things will happen. Don't rely on outside jumpers so much. Get aggressive and go hard at the other team. It's OK to foul people. There should be no easy baskets in the NBA, not if you're in hacking distance.

38 point 4th quarter great, 8 point 2nd, not so much.

I am a fan of Raymond Felton. Haha, seriously though I'm a fan of Batum's Lobs and JJ's Slams.

All season this Portland team has consistently dug early holes, then showed fight in coming back.  This game no exception.  After an 8 point 2nd quarter, our Blazers came out and scored 64 of their 95 point total in the second half.  Just not enough depth on this team right now to sustain that type of physical effort for a full 48 at this point in the season, let alone for the better part of an 82 game schedule.  Fatigue is starting to rear it's ugly head, and will be as much reason as any that the postseason will not feature Portland's pride.  Much to be proud of Blazer Nation.

I thought this was such a horrible game that I shut it off at halftime. Way too little way too late. Wes was my pick to click but our complete lack of defense led to the worst 2nd quarter I've ever seen in the NBA...we were beaten much worse than the final score showed. The Bucks got lazy at the end. Frustrating game. Said it before, WE NEED A DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT COACH! One that won't be smiling on the sidelines during a game like this.

I totally agree River, I am sick of seeing how easy the opponents penitrate the blazer lack of defense and these come from behind games just suck! I know these guys can do it when they put their minds to it but they dont seem to put their minds to it until they are down 20 points. They know how to defend they always show that in the second half when they are comming back, if they could only get their heads into the defense in the first quarter the offence will be there. I am also so frustrated with the referee staff this year, they all seem to have it out for the blazers, the obvious no calls and the 2 calls to give the ball to the bucks when it was obviously hit last by the bucks OMG! who pissed in their chereos ? I to turned this one off at half time, just wasnt worth watching anymore!! Just when I thought we had a chance at making the playoffs they prove me wrong again. I sure hop[e that Portland picks up a real defensive coach for next year!!

I am a fan of the NBA fining referee's for obvious stupid calls and HARD AGRESSIVE DEFENCE FROM START TO FINISH NOT WAITING TO DIG A 10-30 POINT HOLE

LOL River, I did the same thing, except I did it when we got down by 15 in the 2nd. I could see what was happening. We all know these types of games very well.

Wesley after the game said "Nothing was falling for us [in the second]. But they kept making shots. Usually in the NBA when one team isn't making shots the other team isn't either." Wesley, I respect you a lot, I think you're a great motivator once times do get tough. But those games you refer to in the NBA, are games in which one team is playing defense. SO we can't get a bucket to fall, you can't expect the other team is just gonna miss their shots because that's how a perfect world would work, but it doesn't. You have to make them miss.

I cannot watch awful basketball from such a highly talented team (on both sides of the floor!) but all the talent in the world can't make you see clearly, that one side of the floor is dictating the other, the wrong side.

Henson will be solid down the road but his ceiling is more like Taj Gibson. He is a great role player but not elite like Sanders and Ibaka could be if people were not so willing to shoot on him.
