On so many forums, I've seen blazers fans saying we need to trade Lamarcus Aldridge for a centre. Just want to know who else thinks that and why. I personally don't think the Blazers should even think about trading the second best power forward in the league.

Difficult, if not impossible to get fair value in return and Olshey would be gambling all eggs in JJ's basket, hoping that the fear of many GMs that he's just playing for a long term deal is unfounded.  In short, not practical or forseeable.

I don't want to see him gone I just don't want to see him taking anymore game winning shots.  let lillard take them so we can win the game not lose it.

Absolutely do NOT want Aldridge gone. He deserves to stay a Blazer and I hope he chooses to after his contract, because it really will be his choice.

The combination of Aldridge and Lillard, if they stay together a few years, will turn in to the absolute best 1-4 combo we've seen run a team in a long time. I have no doubt about that.

But Aldridge has to grow out of his infatuation with the jumpshot.

It's a great weapon for him, but it will never be reliable enough to be his go-to weapon, especially not to win a game, when he EASILY could have taken an easier shot to get the W. That was unacceptable, and he needs to be chastised for it. Big time.

I don't have a problem with Lamarcus taking the jumpshot in that situation. He's been hot for the past 3 or 4 games, won player of the week, and just hit a clutch 3. Flashbacks to Dallas anyone? Just a miss. It happens. But yes, he needs to go inside more. There isn't anyone in the NBA right now with his footwork and post moves. He destroyed the Pistons with that. I remember one play where he had 3 headfakes, while double teamed, under the rim and still got an open shot. At the very least he needs to take closer jumpers, 13 - 18 feet.

Yeah... Let's have the rookie attempting game winners all the time now. So now fans can target Lillard the same way they do Aldridge now

Sorry guys, the stats say he one of the best in the game. Trading him would be insanity. We should go with Meyers Leonard at center. His defense is improving every game and the offensive up side is excellent. I think we'll have to let JJ go because he won't want to play back-up to Aldrige.  We should use our cap space to load the bench.

No way. JJ is in our top 3. He's still so young and will get better, and we don't have any other rebounders, or anyone who can finish in close like him.

I hear what you are saying RipCity. It's not that I don't like JJ's game but defensively he doesn't cut it at center and I don't think he is going to want to play back-up. I believe he will get some good offers to be a starting PF when free agency opens.

I really do not see Meyers ready now, nor do I think he will be the starting center for us in the future, however I could be wrong I think he will be a good role player for us, kind of like Zaza Pachulia has been for the hawks or Nick Collison of the Thunder, but hey I could be wrong. But NO I do not want LA gone he is an all star and he is our all star. But, I also think letting JJ go would set us back and we will not improve. HE IS ONLY 24!!! That's 3 years/seasons away from his prime. I sense so much impatience it's crazy, we have 5 rookies and two other bench players just joined us this season, we gotta give everyone a chance to grow together and not trade or let go players who have been great for us. If I remember correctly the thunder was terrible when there team was first assembled, we are ahead of the curve because of Lamarcus, Nic, and Wes all having played together for a couple years. PATIENCE!

Sug81, you took the words out of my mouth. We don't HAVE to change. Just be happy, wait, and we will win. I think he could become a decent blocker. He doesn't do it much, but he has the frame for it and when he does, it just seems natural.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic Carl, but I think that we did play very well. Meyers Leonard has been solid and Claver just keeps improving. Finally saw Lillard playing defence, little too much, but it's good. Next year, we are in the playoffs for sure.

One thing you need to know about me RipCity is that being sarcastic is not my thing I call it like I see it and I know some won't see it the same way I do and I like that because I get different perspectives that way, back to my comment I not saying that no one is improving and that no one isn't good I'm say that LA makes the game easier for everyone and right now besides Lillard I don't see anyone else have that type of impact so why would you want to trade a guy who does, some teams only have one player who makes the game easier for everyone we are fortunate to have two in Lillard and LA.

Couldn't agree more.  Those wanting LA gone may want to watch as this team plays without him.  Where can you depend on consistent...CONSISTENT...offensive production from this roster beyond Aldridge?  You can't.  There isn't anybody else able to get there own, at will, save maybe the man responsible for distributing and getting everyone else involved.  Like it or not, Aldridge IS the backbone to this teams offense.  Period.

Yeah, and I don't understand why people are saying it's Lillard Team. It's been LA's team since 2009 and will be until he retires. Everyone is essentially proposing a first strike option, trading him away now because he's getting older, for someone younger. They don't understand that LA will be able to play the same game until he's around 34-35. It's not athleticism, it's pure skill. I'd like to see Blake Griffin last till 30, much less play well until then.

How can anyone say Blake is better then Aldridge. And WHY  would anyone want Aldridge gone!? We would struggle without him. ripcity, I agree that it's his team right now but it wont be when lillard is a star.

Haha, look, there's no doubt that Blake Griffin is the best Dunker in the league. His game is rather one-dimensional, but what he's good at, there's no one better. He has probably the worst footwork of any big man in the league and no mid range game. If you follow NBA's youtube channel and saw the Caron Butler tip in video, I posted a comment saying he's not LA or Dirk stop trying to do post moves and Griffin fanboys attacked me. My point is, his game is predicated on athleticism. He has already been injured before, and will probably get injured again so it's unlikely he'll be very good for very long. LA though, is the best PF in the league today, save Tim Duncan. Read this post, it's really good. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1587980-ranking-the-most-dynamic-power-forwards-in-the-nba-today

personally I thought it might have been a good move to get value out of LA. during a rebuilding year. After seeing that the Blazers can play and win without Batum for a couple of games but seeing that they cant even compete without LA I have since refined my opinion of the situation.

lol its portlands team.. team a group of people working for the same goal! they just need to learn that good defence creates easy offensive oppertunities and quit digging these stupid holes they seem to like to try and come back from

I am a fan of the NBA fining referee's for obvious stupid calls and HARD AGRESSIVE DEFENCE FROM START TO FINISH NOT WAITING TO DIG A 10-30 POINT HOLE
