    What To Watch For

    Hawes Vs. Hickson
The marquee matchup takes place in the middle. JJ Hickson, who has been playing out of position all season long, has been a terror down low, racking up 37 double-doubles -- ranking him 3rd in the entire NBA -- and averaging 10.7 rebounds per game -- 10th in the league. While Spencer Hawes doesn't have Hickson's numbers (10.4 points, 6.8 rebounds), he does have four inches of height on JJ (7-1 compared to Hickson's 6-9) and is coming off of one of the great NBA performances this season against Roy Hibbert and the Indiana Pacers in which Hawes tallied 18 points, 16 rebounds, 8 assists, and 7 blocks. For the Trail Blazers to start this trip off on the right foot, JJ needs to control Hawes not only on the backboards but pressure him on the defensive end. If JJ can't guard Hawes straight up and Portland is forced to double, Spencer has shown the ability to pass well out of the double team.

    Small Ball
In their 98-91 victory over the Pacers Saturday night, the Sixers went small and started four wings and Hawes against the bigger, bulkier Pacers. This means that Thad Young will likely be defending JJ Hickson and the seven-footer, Hawes will draw LaMarcus Aldridge on the defensive end. It is important for the Trail Blazers to wear Spencer down and go into LaMarcus on the blocks early and often. But that doesn't mean the other four players on the court stand around and watch. LA is capable of making fantastic passes out of the post, so the Trail Blazers should send cutters to the basket at any given chance. Not only does Portland get easy buckets but they may even draw a few fouls and the easiest way to get it done on the road is by living at the line. If Portland can get to the line 25 times and converts at least 75% of those attempts, they'll be in great shape. And if Philly decides to go with Young on Aldridge, Portland will take that matchup in the post all game long. LA scored 16 points on 7-13 shooting back on December 29th and also possesses a pretty good size advantage down low (6-11, 240 vs. 6-8, 235).

Philly is playing really well these days, have to bring the "A" game to get a win here on their court.
I am a fan of A team that plays like Tower of Power on a big stage on a good night

Yeah, at the same time tho.. Their points are gonna have to come from somewhere. We have the clear advantage in the frontcourt. So I think it just depends on how well LA & Hickson get it going and how the Lillard- Holliday matchup turns out.

Our bench is gonna need to step it up so our guys can get some rest for tomorrow's game.

This game is listed as a tie. Hey... there's no ties in basketball.
This was a fun game to watch and we lost by 1 stinkin' point.

To go another season with so many rookies is not a good idea. We need a couple of vets and atleast one young bench scorer. If we want a Center, go after Hawes from Philly and Dorrell wright can be signed as a free agent. We can trade our 2nd round...

Thanks Ricky.   I''ll be watching @ 10.   Haven''t seen enough right hand from Shazamm.   Without the ability to take his defender either way off the bounce, let alone finish at the cup with either hand?   Second rounder at best.

Sug81 I love Iggy but this team has numerous gaping holes throughout the depth chart so signing Iggy is not the best way to spend our limited funds

That roster looks pretty good, but if we would have enough cash Corey or Ronnie brewer would be nice
