    March 12th, 2013
7:00 PM | Rose Garden Arena | Portland, OR
Trail Blazers (29-33) Vs Grizzlies (42-19)

    What To Watch For

    Bench Production
Since Eric Maynor's arrival, the Trail Blazers bench has been a pleasant surprise and along with improvements from Meyers Leonard and Victor Claver, Portland had themselves a solid 8-man rotation. And against the Grizzlies, those three had 21 of the Trail Blazers' 22 bench points in a game which saw the Blazers hold a 17-point lead in the second-half. But then Meyers and Victor both went down with ankle injuries in the second quarter of Friday's game against the Spurs. Portland was able to run away with that contest but the following road game in New Orleans, the bench struggled as they only produced 11 points in a two-point loss in the Big Easy. Both Claver and Leonard's statuses are up in the air for Tuesday night. Regardless of who plays off the bench for Rip City, the Blazers will need more than 11 points of production, especially against a Grizzlies team they have taken to the wire twice already this season (Won by 2, Lost by 6).

    Aldridge Vs. Gasol
This is the key matchup. LaMarcus Aldridge vs. Marc Gasol. During last week's 85-91 loss to Memphis, LA had a line of 10 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists, but he shot just 2-13 from the field and was unable to score in the post over the much-bulkier Gasol. On the other side of the scope, Gasol was steady throughout the entire game, ending with 23 points on 10-17 shooting to go along with 12 rebounds. Although Aldridge is much more deadly when he does work in the post, if Memphis decides to roll with Gasol on that defensive matchup, LA possesses the versatility in his skill-set to take him outside of the perimeter and do his damage away from the hoop. Not only can it get LA rolling but it can also open up the paint for guys like Damian Lillard to operate. Prediction: If Aldridge outplays or plays Gasol to a standstill, the Trail Blazers will walk away victorious Tuesday night!

The last game proved how important Victor and Meyers are to this team get back soon please when your ready, the team will be up for this game since it an upper echelon team were facing it's a shame that this team can't have this focus on teams that they should beat, anyway guard play will decide the game which teams guards will have there imprint on the game.

I'd put Freeland in there. Give LA and JJ a little breather. You don't have to run the offense through him. Just give him some early minutes is all.

Yeah, CarlJ, it is kind of annoying that we can't beat those teams we shuld tho. But we olove to play the tough teams.

I'm not sure why Freeland hasn't gotten any minutes whatsoever, don't really get that. Hopefully he does tonight if Clave & Meyers stay seated.

LaMarcus, JJ and Damian cannot win games by themselves. Nic has been offensively challenged since the allstar break. What happened to mr. triple double? Why isn't Freeland getting some time on the court? These questions baffle me. No matter how we battle back, our defense is not good and we have long stretches with no ball movement. Very frustrating loss last night. My biggest complaint last night was bricked layups! aaarrrrggghhhh!

We need a new defensive assistant coach... who is that right now btw? Canales if I'm not mistaken... Well it's god-awful out there.

Not only would good defense make the opponent's ppg lower. But it would probably boost our own ppg as a team; points in transition, even the momentum that defensive stops bring. In this league, you need to play great D to win games and be in contention. Even if we have a bad offensive night like last night. A great defensive outing could hold us through games where we can't buy a bucket from 3.

Defence whats that, its pretty much non existant as far as I cant see. I keep waiting for portland to get a defensive coach that knows how to teach the players. In all my life as a blazer fan I have never seen our team with no defense like this, soooo frustrating to watch they just stand there and watch the opponent shoot and hope they miss and DONT get the rebound and put it back in. Come on guys fight for that ball for cryin out loud. I dont blame it all on the team tho those no calls last night were horrendous. Personally I would have pulled Batum out of the game after the first quarter, 3 points and all from the line omg what is wrong with our coaching staff. He did get some blocks but we need all around players on the floor! that was about as frustrating as Alreich just standing there watching his man laying in baskets. At least he was making most of his shots last night. No ball movement and too many turn overs with those passes everyone knows portland makes and just snatching them away. grrrr

I am a fan of the NBA fining referee's for obvious stupid calls and HARD AGRESSIVE DEFENCE FROM START TO FINISH NOT WAITING TO DIG A 10-30 POINT HOLE

Someone needs to tell Nic if your wrist is still bothering you then sit you a** down until it gets better because your hurting your team your a non factor right now the team is not going to the playoffs so it isn't a big deal if he's out for a while, it looks like that the trend now for this season after every road trip we drop our first game at home.

How this team improves on D will decide if this team can challenge the top teams in the future or will they be a middle of the pact team and that's the spot you don't want to be I called that the "Mediocrity Zone" because in the west that's the difference between the teams that have home court and the teams that don't they know how to get stops and play D question is will this team take that challenge to get better on D even with a possibility of a new defensive coach.

sign Iggy for 8-9M, Batum at the two, and Wesley off the bench! Draft Steven Adams (who loves contact, grew up playing rug-bee). Sounds NICE!

Im not impressed with Gortat. Everyone wants him but he seems mediorcre to me. He is the most realistic option since all it would take is the 10th pick, but I think he is old and declining.
