Trail Blazers (28-31) At Grizzlies (39-19)

    What To Watch For

    Throw The Record Book Out
The Trail Blazers came away with a 86-84 victory the last time these two teams met back on January 4th in Memphis, but a lot of new faces will be on the court Wednesday night. For Portland, Eric Maynor has been a blessing. And the second-unit is starting to round into shape. Since Maynor's arrival, bench production has been raised to 21.75 points per game, but more importantly, the reserves have kept the score close, not letting things get out of hand while the starters rest. For Memphis, they were without Zach Randolph during the first meeting and they sure missed his 16 points and 12 rebounds as they were only able to muster 84 points on sub-40% field-goal shooting. Gone from that contest two months ago are Rudy Gay, Marreese Speights, Wayne Ellington, and Hamed Haddadi and inserted will be Tayshaun Prince and Ed Davis. Memphis has played well since the major changes and are 9-1 in their last 10 outings.

    Grit And Grind
For the Trail Blazers to walk out of Memphis with another win, they'll have to take a page from the Grizzlies' playbook and grind it out. There will be no first to 100 tonight as the Memphis D is tops in the NBA , as they allow a league-low 89.5 points per game. Not many thought the Trail Blazers could win playing Memphis' style of game, but they did so earlier this season. This means that points will be at a premium so free-throw shooting will be key. The Grizz shot a perfect 18-17 from the charity stripe compared to Portland's 10-15. Also, quality shots will play a role. The Blazers shot just 10-27 from downtown last meeting and will need to work inside out to get the good looks they'll need to pull out the W. Finally, every possession matters when the score is in the 80's, so whichever team can take care of the ball will have a distinct advantage in this one.

Looking forward to see how Leonard does against Z-Bo and Gasol this will definitely be a true test to see where he stands with his recent development and will he have that same aggressiveness when Memphis gets physical with him.

I think this game comes down to guard play for both teams whoever wins the guard battle wins the game, our front court can hold it's own against theirs if we can loosen up their interior D we have a better shot to win this game.

    Time to grind Go Blazers.

We will have to contain either Z Bo or Gasol once you take one of those two out AND find ways to get points on the board we can win..

We can win this game if we keep the doing what we did on the last games, our bench  finally helps the starters, good to see Maynor, Claver and Leonard, ond the last 3/4 games, hope they keep it going.

i heard that Zac Randolph isnt playing tonight, if its true, good news for us....

I'd check the basket on that side of the court. Memphis couldn't hit anything on that rim, and neither could the Blazers. Make sure it's legit dimensions.

LA was terrible from the field tonight and the team could not rebound you are professionals learn to box out. Also I think it is time to have the whole team shooting free throws. 17-28 is pathetic.

Very disappointing loss..we had this game in the bag and both LA and Wesley were shooting bricks when it counted. All we needed were layups, the jumpshot has killed us so many times at the end of games.

When you're up 17.. Nvm, I don't even know what to say. This is the worst loss I've felt of the season. Sour doesn't even begin to describe how this feels.

Next time, try defending their guards a little better. Gasol isn't easy to defend, but that was ridiculous watching Conley, Wroten, & Bayless do whatever they wanted out there.

Not to mention we had no answer when it counted we just kept trying to beat them 1 on 1. Dame trying to dribble on Bayless, Wesley trying to post up and pump fake. LA trying to post up. Saw no semblence of a team in the final 13 minutes of the game.

I hate to say it but, I knew that first half was a little fools gold Memphis wasn't gonna play the D it played the first half the whole game not while you have Tony Allen to rise up the troops. I knew this game was gonna come down to guard play while Dame and Maynor didn't play bad Conley, Bayless and Wroten made plays to get Memphis back and take the lead and Allen made life tough for our perimeter players it just showed how great Memphis D is and also we forgot what got us the lead in the first half we move the ball and made open shots when Memphis turn up the D we weren't mentally tough enough to stay the course and keep doing what worked we played hero ball like Knorton mention, this was just another game to dash this team playoff hopes this team can believe all they want but, if you don't take care of business you can forget it and get use to that 10th spot.

Shabazz or Saric. We need bench scoring.
