JJ was a flat out beast defensively and 21 boards says a lot against the Bulls.

yea he looked good on the defensive end but I'm not gonna get all excited about gaurding a former star power forward thats on the down side of his career cause that should be expected of him every time if he draws an al horford match up tonight dude will go off on him I almost gaurentee it but it looks like the bigs latley have been moving over to gaurd aldridge instead

wow,you really got it in for JJ but yet your Fan status says otherwise. Like most men,I cant figure you out. Hickson had 15 points and 10 boards against horford is pretty good. but you've probably got a reason why those numbers are hollow too. Boozer is Averaging 15.6 points and 9.2 boards a game and hes still playing well he had 18 points and 10 boards the other night against indiana,so he's no slouch. Not only that but Hickson gives strippers a shout out on his twitter so I've got to love him for respecting our hustle, cause its now how people think.lol.  We need him next year or were gonna be worse not better. He averages 13 and 10 thats right below a former all-star like boozer and a guy like Al horford who we passed up to draft Greg Oden.Alot of people forget that cause of durant but we couldve had horford as well

he also just got destroyed tonight and leonard had more boards then he did and played less minutes then hickson too and I never said I didn't like hickson just said he isn't a starting center going forward does that all of a sudden mean I hate him? no just means he's not cut out to play defense @ the c spot to make us a legit contender and I'm a fan/support the franchise and if trading a player like hickson will move the needle then I'm all for it

Most teams have a 12th man.  Portland's problem all season long, is that they have 4-5 of them.  No depth.  When Hickson doen't bring that energy level he has rightfully become known for, his value becomes that of a player beside that (or those) 12th men.

Trading a player like hickson wont move the needle though is the problem. you have valid points, but think about it like this,he may not be perfect, but can you replace him with someone better? if you can't then what? so untill we have a better option we should probably stick with him cause its nice to win some games, unless you want a 20 win team.

true I think we deff need to attempt another hibbert like deal in the offseason but have a back up plan instead of another hibbert or bust move lol

Even if we keep Hickson or get someone better still doesn't change the fact that this team needs to get better with effort and defense and if that doesn't change with or without Hickson we will be a lottery bound team that will always be the difference between us and the playoff teams and that's the thing I'm most concerned above all else.

I haven't posted in a while after site issue kept me from bloggin.  And I haven't read any comments in this thread yet, but will eventually.

My contribution to any question regarding JJ Hickson will defer to the the past several games, starting with Aldridge playing on one leg after spaining his ankle in the 1at quarter versus brooklyn.  How many games has Portland won?  zero

The fundimental problem I see posters struggling with has to do with the disconnect between stats, actual results, and salary (bang for you buck).  Give me a number that JJ is worth and explain how the Blazers can afford to keep him.  Show me how your plan to keep JJ still affords Portland to fill the screaming deficiencies that currently exist.

The emotional attachment to JJ, rational or not, has not a GD thing to do with reality, next year, or winning an NBA championship. ; )

Unfortunatley you've got to go over the salary cap to compete. Look at Denver, they pay javel mcgee 8 million? maybe more, andre miller makes 5 million as a backup. Clippers pay deandre jordan 11 million, lamar odom makes 8 million. Unfortunatley you've gotta go over to compete. Or maybe there is something Im missing cause when looking at those teams salaries they are much, much higher then our teams,so maybe paul allen is just more invested in the seahawks these days

I am tired of hearing what we can and cannot do with JJ.  I agree with Curvychloe, Paul Allen is more interested int he Seahawks right now.

Blazer Fanatic seems to think she is the only one that knows how to build a NBA Championship only focusing on the Salary Cap. Curcychloe is correct you got to spend money to win.  I do not see Paul Allen doing that.  Prime example, he is raising ticket prices next season after the season they have had this year.  Who the heck does that?

They are raising ticket prices? wow, just wow. The depressing thing is this is a team that USED TOO try and compete. Look at the years the blazers competed for a title. 1989-1993,1999-2003. Those teams were well over the cap.Unfortunatley now with the way the economy is and a increasing # of dollars to be made on endorsements alot of players dont really consider Portland a prime destination when they are free agents, which means to compete we are gonna have to spend more. We had built a great team through that draft and should be competing for a title now, with Greg Oden,Brandon Roy and Aldridge, but injuries took our team out. Its almost like we've got a curse, there are so many "what if's" with this franchise. But the bottom line is in the NBA you gotta spend to win,a team that wanted to compete wouldnt be so wishy washy when it comes to signing their starting center who averages a double double. I could see if there were others out there to take his place, but I dont see any replacements out there so?

2.5 Percent is still 2.5%.  They have to bay for Batum's bloated contract some how.

Yeah and now Blazers have zero interest in Bynum. I really thought he was worth the small risk. If anything he would be at the end of our bench and we use him as a sub. Hopefully we do make some type of trade for a quality back up center. Right no...
