Shaq picked first for the Rising Stars challenge and picked Damian Lillard #1. Surprised? I am a little. More surprising that Charles went with Anthony David with his second pick, leaving Shaq to pick Kyrie Irving 3rd. Can you imagin Kyrie starting at SG for Portland? yikes

Lillard will also represent the west in the skills challenge.

That is a very scary backcourt. Shaq also picked Klay Thompson. Those three together are going to shoot the orange off the ball. Im looking forward to the Drummond vs Davis math-up. Needless to say, im rollin with whatever squad Lillard is on. Color me biased.

Ya, I'm biased too.  But seriously, Shaq got all the best three point shooters and the biggest body/best rebounder in Drummond.

I thought it was funny Barkley went with defense on an offensive exhibition

I don't think Barkley expected Shaq to take to pt guards at 1-3 leaving him without one of them. Glad to see Damian get the #1 pick though!

Barkley is dumb for taking Tristan Thompson (that early) over Kemba Walker after already having 2 PFs -__-

I dont know about Kahwi Leonard over Thompson......but Cmeese got it right that he went in a defensive team I guess....

Fear not!  The NBA commercial for advertising the Risng Stars Challenge says it will be a match-up of Irving versus Davis.  Davis has yet to win a Rookie of the month, and Irving was picked 3rd.

I wonder if Team Shaq Had our Defensive Coach, at the end of the day Team Chuck played like a team and Kenneth Faried keeps reminding us the mistake we made.

Lillard just looks so out of place in a showboat game. I wish they actually played a competitive game and tried to win. I get the lax defense but playing like you don't have teammates seems to be the new trend. Congrats to Damian for coming out strong in the 1st half and showing some ball movement. He's a class act!

^^ I totally agree and DL was one of the only ones on the court that was doing any defence some of those 3 pointers dont even have a defender within 15' of the player shooting gee I wonder why they are making so many

Damian Lillard finishes with 18 points, 5 dimes, 3 boards, and 2 steals. I would have liked to have seen him shoot better than 2-10 from downtown, but it's an All-Star game, so no big deal. I did notice that Chuck's team went on that huge run to put the game away once Dame was subbed out early on.

Dame was the only  player in the positive (+2) on Shaq's team through the end of the 4th quarter.  Miami assistant coach fail.  I posted something similar in the Irving vs Lillard thread, and it bears repeating.  I'd take Lillard over Irving because he makes everyone around him better.  Dame plays the role of PG much better in my opinion.  I see Kyrie as a SG with great ball handling skills.  I don't see him running the offense, I see him as being the offense.

It would have been nice if Lillard would have shot better.  2-10 from three was definitely disappointing.

Damian Lillard will take part in the Skills Challenge, which is the 2nd event of All-Star Saturday Night, which starts at 5:30 PM PST. Who do you think his main competition is?

Parker was really... not good.  Lost the team competition for the West.  Lillard was the man.  MVP!  Chris Paul said Bledsoe was the MVP of his West team.  How many points did Bledsoe contribute to the team's total?

Gratz to Dame for the win.  Was a little worried when he missed that first pass, but he finished strong.  That trophy isn't small.  I wonder if TSA will give him a hard time for having more than 1 carry on.

Great job Damian!! If I were drafting that rising stars challenge, and I knew Chuck took Anthony Davis with the second pick, my counter would have been Faried, not Irving lol.

Oh yeah, as always the Dunk contest was the worst event as usual. It was so bad this year. 2 guys did not even do their dunks and they still got 30 points???? how do you get points for not dunking in a DUNK contest??? Even the announcers were advising people to go watch something else lol. This competition is in dire need of a re-haul. I have an idea...how bout the contestants actually do DUNKS!! like go at each other dunk for dunk...no stupid gimmicks, no stupid props, just dunks like it used to be. This was just terrible.

LA finishes with 4 boards, 2 blocks, and 1 assists in just 11 minutes of action. He missed the only 2 shots he attempted. Personally, I'm fine with him not playing a lot of minutes as we need him for this stretch run.

Aldridge lacing 'em up for an All-Star game is about as quality a marriage as oil and water, though he was very deserving of the honor. I became too old for this weekend of commercialized "basketball" entertainment at 16. Coach Pop's expression as he and his West squad were introduced said it all for me. We will all know by the Friday morning whether there IS to be a stretch run, or whether the remainder of this season will be forgettable (among other things).

0 pts is unacceptable in a track meet like the All Star game he did get 2 blocks and 4 rebounds and only got 11 minutes so his night wasn't a complete loss.

at what point do you actually think Harden or Paul were going to pass LA the ball? He did what Damian did, played defense and very unselfishly. He got 4 boards, 2 blocks and 1 assist...how many big guys got an assist? 11 minutes playing time. I'll take it in a game that was surely setup to get Durant 30+ and Paul 20+. LaMarcus was there lobbying for Portland and trying to talk marquis players into wanting to play here. In the practice I noticed Dwight Howard was hanging out with LaMarcus more than any other vets. All in all I'm proud of LaMarcus.

The West big men were very selfish with the ball but the East's big men with the exception of Tyson Chandler all had at least 1. In fact Brook Lopez who also only played 11 minutes has 5 rebs and 3 assists to go with 3 points.

Valid point, however, we can only hope the two of them were discussing interests OFF the court and away from the game.
