Speights would have been money. Josh Selby lit it up at the summerleague games. I just threw up in my mouth at this trade. Those two would have moved the needle Olshey.

Lets not forget that with JJ's Bird Rights (forgive me if I am wrong and I am sure there are people on this board who will) come veto power on trades.  So if JJ has smart agent, and lets say for argument sake he does, JJ veto's any trade and then goes into FA and signed by another team and Blazers get zero.  Blazers only choice is to sign him to a long term contract. JJ is holding all the cards right now.

What if we try some trade with cleveland? since they are changing their team, one or two more moves would hurt...

There are some that we could really use....

    J. Pargo(PG), CJ Miles(SG/SF) and D. Gibson(SG), 1 or 2 of these would be a big upgrade to the team bench.

if we take Leonard out of the negotiation cause they already a young C needing time to develop, any other bench player we coud trade for 1 or more of those cleveland players i mentioned, would be a very good deal, and in case they dont fit here, there is no big problem, since they are on short contracts (Pargo and Gibson 1 year, and Miles 2 years)

Lamarcus has been doing great last 10 games

    20 Points 1 Reb 3 assists 1 block 1 steal

If only we were winning these games then LA could have a stronger chance to be a ALL Star. I feel he needs to take more shots! He should be shooting 15-20 shots a game, probably more!

We should run our offense through Lamarcus! We do sometimes, but should more

    Thinking of trades ha haaa

Boston gets- Samuel Dalembert, Nolan Smith

Blazers Gets- Ekpe Udoh, Leandro Barbosa

Bucks gets- Courtney Lee, Luke Babbit, Portland Second rounder

Boston gets their center they want also a expiring contract, and expiring contract lol, we get some quality bench guys, Bucks get wing defender who can hit the 3 and Babbit. Maybe throw Barton to the Bucks to help sweeten the deal.

Alan Anderson is someone I really like. He is 6'6 guard in Toronto...they have Derozan and Ross maybe they give up Anderson since he is a FA next year. He has had a lot of high scoring games this season. Very good role player.

An Idea i think some avoided is that : Would you guys be open to trading Wes Matthews in order to bring in some depth??? A lot of ppl throw Hickson out there for trades, but he probably vetos any trade.

What about Wes in a Danny Granger package??  Lets Paul George grow and they get their SG we get another great piece.

Maybe Wes and a second rounder for ZaZa and Deshawn Stevenson

or Wes, Babbit, second rounder for Nate Robinson, Beleneli, RIP Hamilton

    IDK just throwing out ideas

its true... J. Pargo(1m) was waived by cleveland. I think we could try to take him...but i think we need to waive someone in order to get him...i would do this in a second... unless other moves are being done by management...

See fred...why did you have to go and do that?! Remind me of that glorious decision...one that was made AFTER Faried was flown here to have dinner with none other than Paul Allen. Seemed like a lock. Denver also was the beneficiary of a Portland draft day war room decision to pass on Ty Lawson, another kid I had circled on my draft board. I didn't understand THAT one either. At the risk of piling on even further...um, Portland worked out the current league leader in blocks, a 6'11" center now balling out his backside for the Bucks...Sanders, and passed on him. Time to go visit my friend Jack Daniels.

Already met Jack over management of this team!

Paul Allen needs to do what he did in Seattle with Pete Carroll and John Schneider and that is to quit meddling is Basketball Talent decisions and trust his GM and Scouts to pick the right players.  Isn't that what he hires them to do?

Remember Maniac, the "he" you refer to (if Olshey) wasn't part of this organization in 2011.  If by "he" you are referring to owner Paul Allen, perhaps it's because Smith was taken instead of Faried, and POR used their #51 on household name Jon Diebler.  Hindsight 20/20, that was a garbage draft, and forgettable.  Looking forward to a new face and voice in that war room.

Don't be shocked if the Cavaliers decide to move Speights on again before the Feb. 21 deadline. The Cavs obviously aren't in the playoff hunt and word is they're already receiving interest in Speights, who possesses a $4.5 million player option for next season. The Cavs are also armed with $12 million in expiring contracts and roughly $4 million in leftover cap space for the summer, which means they've got the tools to continue to be active before this deadline. ESPN.com

Daniel Gibson and Omri Casspi, according to NBA front-office sources, are the most likely Cavs to be dealt along with Speights, who had to give his consent to be sent to Cleveland as one of the 13 players in the league this season (see Box No. 6 here for the detailed explanation) who had trade-blocking power related to his Bird rights.ESPN.com

people like you and me... leave here some sugestions...

but the reality is that i dont see even any news of rumour about any blazers possible trade... or the management planing to do it, also it was the opposite, saying we would be active in next FA for next season...

I think it would be a waste of talent and good work from our core, if we dont try to improve our bench a litle, to reach the playoffs

The magic sent out their wishlist in what they want in return for JJ Redick... They are asking for draft picks and small (rookie) contracts. We have something like 4 2nd round picks as well as contracts like Williams Babbitt and Nolan Smith along with the caproom. Orlando is trying to rebuild through free agency, so a deal like that may be reachable

Our main problem is that our bench is one of the weakest of the league, and we cannot depend on  rookies(Barton and Leonard, even Claver sometimes) to come of the bench and do the same as de starters. Jeffries and Price are useful, but if we had a decent bench, they would be 3rd options. We have some players that are really expendable, and lets face it, if the management dont want to reach the playoff this season, we wil stay the same... if they want to try they would make a move or two to improve the bench a bit... and finally if we want to do something this season we need to change/improve our bench as soon as possible. I would say we have 5 players that dont give almost anything to the teams game, and we could turn the money we spend with them, in 3 good bench players (PG/SG or SG/PF or C), signing free agents or making a few trades, we have 3 expiring contracts we could use, even a rookie( lillard, barton or leonard not included), a trade expection of about 2M, and 2M of cap space... we have the capacity to do it, lets see if the management wants to.

IT is on the team management hands, make some moves and reach the playoffs(something that wasnt expected at the beggining of the season) or just stay like this and likely miss the playoffs... as it was expected...

Siccolo lets see, we have Hickson and Leonard playing at C, and doing a good work most of the times...

We have a very good starting 5, Leonard and Barton can give something of the bench, Price, Pavlovic and Jeffries help a bit...

But we lack a couple "shooters" of the bench if you know what i mean... and i think we could get them if the management wants to, cause we have 3 expiring contracts (E. williams, l. babbit and n. smith) to use  and 2 Rookies (Claver and Freeland) with potential, but that will need time to improve (time that we cannot give them right now, cause we already are playing 3 rookies)

with this, 2m cap room, and a trade exception, we could easily make a move or two in order to get 2 or 3 players  (PG, SG/SF and  even a C) to improve the bench! am i wrong? we dont need to go after big names, we could get efficient players, with the "money" we have availabe, and without compromise next season´s plans. there are a lot of players with expiring contract that wouldnt be hard to get.

I read that. I dont how accurate Steins report is..

I doubt Olshey doesnt do annnyyythhhinng. He just said he regrets not bolstering the bench, and he talked about Surviving with a 6'9 center...

If JJ really does get HUGE offers and Olshey believes it would be a good idea to trade him.....how about this

JJ Hickson, Luke Babbit, 2013 second round pick FOR ZaZa Pachulia and John Jenkins

Yes we would rather have Hickson but now we get a serviceable center and a great piece in Jenkins. THIS IS JJs HOMETOWN. I doubt he would veto this trade. THIS now allows ATL to trade Josh Smith for other pieces and can get a HUGE piece in FA.

    Just an Idea

Why trade hickson it does not make sense to trade away the best rebounder on the team unless we get an equal rebounder in return other than that it would be a major mistake. And he is still so young! Gotta be patient it takes more than a season to really gel and there is still so much inexperience to this team just gotta give it some time and let players grow together. Personally I think this team needs some experience coming of the bench (ronnie and sasha just are not good enough). I do not know how delonte west, kenyon martin, and michael redd have not been signed to a team yet, unless they have and I was misinformed or if they retired and I had not heard.

Sounds like non-news to me.  I view those comments as genaric; appriciative that rumors are out that he will be looking forward to a big contract this off-season.  It's sad that cordial comments like these seem like news, in a word where the likes of Kevin Love seem to be constantly complaining.

Last night everyone scored at will against the Timber Wolves defense. With Batum seriously off his game with the wrist injury the bench has to produce or we lose.

100 points is usually the break even point score more than 100 you win so using that as a barometer. The Blazer starters either need to average 20 points each, or the bench needs to contribute something.

The bench typically gets around 50-70 minutes a night so in that time we need between 15-20 points from them to have a good chance each game. All season that number has been pretty hard to come by and our starters have made up the rest but with the injuries piling up it cannot continue.

I think the coach is working on that...

Nolan is starting to play... Barton and Claver are improving, although i think we still need a 6thman ( We had it, but he´s injured and he wasnt replaced...) that scores +10p´s per game, this isnt the main issue.

My main concern right now, is that Leonard alone, isnt enough to backup LA and JJ... Babbit makes a good game for every 3 or 4 he plays...

So i  think it  would hurt the team, if we make a move to get a better backup to our front court, using Babbit, Jeffries or Freeland...
